I remember when I wrote down they were shopping him and all the trades they were looking at a few days ago, then I got laughed at. sigh
-
I can't say. They always tell me the truth so I trust them. It is how I knew alot of trades in the past. I never would get anyone in trouble, but I will say one of them is in Florida and one of them is in Detroit. Also I will never go by a video game system. Ellis can't be traded for anyone, but when you throw him at the end of a deal, it works. A team can take a look at him for the rest of the year in practice and see if they want to resign him. It really is no risk, and no one is going to suggest it will make or break a trade. I just always throw a guy like him in at the end. We needed the space, but I expected him to stay while someone else went. I thought it could have been possible for him to be a fourth liner post deadline. This in no way affects the trade propsals for Prospal or Stuart or Sundin. I do think it shows that less trades will happen then maybe some of us want.
-
According to him, it is to get him more minutes. Perhaps they want to show Hartigan off as well? I haven't seen anything wrong with Ellis. I wish him well.
-
Thanks for the confirmation, wasn't up a minute ago. Also you are right Cleary went on IR for Quincey. I was screwed up because of the IR delay on the fantasy list.
-
Cheli is making the vet minimum right now. He can't make less, in fact he may make more if they raise it.
-
They need the depth now, why do you think they would sign him and then send him down? Especally if they did clear room for him. He would have to clear waivers to do so! Burke would take him just to spite us. I wouldn't risk it.
-
No mainstream source has this listed under the transactions. It doesn't make any sense as three spots opened up, and they called up two. Waiving Ellis opens two holes in the roster then. McCarty will only take up one... My sources say McCarty has a contract offer on the table right now, so that is another contradiction with the report. I am waiting for official transactions report, just because it is Eklund. If he was waived, then a trade is going down. Otherwise if we lose him just to lose him, then no one wants him. I also do not believe this.
-
First off, link to a real website saying Ellis got wavied. I am not convinced he did. Unconfirmed..... I will tell you my sources tell me that Detroit has a one year deal on the table for McCarty right now. His agent is discussing adding incentives to this minimum contract. Holland hopes to have him on the plane and playing Saturday.

I CALL BS!!! No one else is reporting it, we just put three people on IR and only called up two. Plus Ellis could be used in a trade, so this makes no sense even if we were signing Mac right this second. Unless we are for trading forsomeone without giving up anyone, it makes no sense.
-
I call BS. Makes no sense as in the past 48 hours we put three players on IR and called up two. Why would we need another roster space unless we were trading for two players. Plus Ellis is a babcock guy.
-
No panic button for the team... My fantasy team however..... OH GOD!!!! lol. Get better Lids!
-
I am looking forward to seeing more Ericson, I think he may be another top four defensemen for us, filled with the last pick in the Draft!! Holland is good for that reason. Put Cleary on the IR and bring him up!
-
Thanks so much!! This is maybe the biggest on-ice injury since the horrible puck to Yzerman. It has a huge effect on the team, and I know from having this injury that it can take a very long time to get back from if serrious, and sometimes you never get back to 100% I am glad it isn't as serrious as that and hopefully the 3 weeks will make him 100% and rested enough to make a victory lap with a cup overhead! The knee is the hardest joint in the body to recover from injury.

If they fix this equipment problem, I demand Roy unretires so we can fix his inflated stats.
-
Guys like Cheli, Schneider, maybe even Rolston may be too old. I think they may look to have a youth movement this go around. Isn't our young Dman Smith American? I doubt he will be on the roster but he should be getting done with College around there. Perhaps he will make it.
-
Agree about the D, and Prospal is a lock IMO. Olli Jokinen prob would not fit our system... I think it would be like Lang, good for some teams but not us.
-
We are not out of the woods until the MRI comes back negative. Trust me, I had nearly the exact same thing happen and it ruined my knee.
-
Uhhh duh, I have been saying this for about a month.... He will get the deal with McCarty done as soon as he has moved a player that cannot be sent down. Either that or put Cleary on the IR. Plus when making deals you want to make people think your cupboard is bear. I see alot of crazy unbelievable trades on this board, and there are people thinking we will have a completely new roster. Hossa is not coming to Detroit folks, sorry but it is not happening. Plus it makes no sense anyways, it would take at least 6.75 million to resign him and we don't have that! Stuart may resign in LA before the deadline, which could submarine that.... Sydor would be the most likely backup plan on that front. Prospal is from my sources a done deal.... except the fact that Detroit won't finalize it until they are sure Sundin is out of the picture. The Sundin deal however is being held up by Sundin who is looking for the new contract before the deal goes through. Holland is on the phone with his agent. Holland is going to pull the trigger right after he knows the MRI results on Lidstorm. He is going to get a bigger deal going if its worse then first thought. If its serrious, Hossa will come into focus. Anyways McCarty is definately back.

I know LGW is doing a radio event for the trade deadline, there have been online webcasts all over. I was wondering if anyone knew of any particular plans. I really liked the video broadcast online TSN did last year and want to know where and who is doing simular things before they start. I am already playing hookey next week and want all the best info coming at me at the speed of light.
-
Well Stuart isn't coming to Detroit now unless he wants to, a contract is on the table and it is his call.
-
Oh and Grigs has to be traded, just because the guy is going to keep trying for the NHL. The Lighting will take him.
-
Here are the rules. Do not move too many people, our team gels really good when everyone is in. We just need a bit more depth on the top offensive end. Prospal is going to be that from my sources in Tampa say. They aren't even asking that much, but when Sundin gets moved the price is going to go up. Do not get rid of Franzen, he is one of the big guys who goes to the net and he can fill alot of roles. Do not get rid of Ericsson, Holland loves him so this is no deal. Do not get rid of Kindl, Smith, Emmerton, Howard, Logan, or Ablekerer. Fil or Hudler, if you get rid of both it's going to be hard to fix secondary scoring in the near future. Depth at D, we know now that if Ralf goes down it will be like missing the Schneid all over again. Meech should be included in any deal that gets us another Dman. He really isn't worth the space on the roster. I'd much rather put Quincey in. Feds will not help us unless his job is to be a fourth liner or cheerleader, and he costs less then a 5th round pick. McCarty is a heaven send, a free player that fills our teams need for grit, heart, depth, and trinary scoring. All in a package guarenteed to have chemistry built in with his teamates. All those people looking for Fedorov should look for DMac. The sky isn't falling and Holland is set to add a little which will do alot, but he doesn't want to sell the farm. This is why no big names will be added, sorry. Hossa and Sundin seem so unlikely, even though both have Detroit on their wishlist.

Trade Deadline prediction, write it down. Detroit gets Prospal (maybe for Grigs, Kopecky, Meech and a third rounder?) Detroit gets Stuart (Quincey, Hartigan, Ellis and a second rounder?) Detroit signs McCarty Detroit gets Sundin (for a first rounder, Hudler, Sammy, and McGrath) Detroit gets cup. Hahaha nice to dream actually though, bet on Detroit getting Prospal and Stuart. Or perhaps Cammalari and Modry.

On Coaches Corner, Don Cherry suggested the reason the Leafs were so bad was that they have practically no drafted Canadians on the team. He cited that the teams that won recently have had Canadians numbering in the high teens and said that if you want to win a cup you draft Canadians. Now we all know Don is a bit xenophobic and I think we can all agree that a better team isn't contingent on the country of origin of the players. Yet his point that Canadian kids grow up dreaming of the Stanley Cup more so then European players could have weight to it. Do Canadians play harder in the playoffs then others? Should we look to aquire Canadian players at the deadline? Personally I say more sweedes please!

Elkund says he is down to the Sharks or the Ducks leaning heavy to the Ducks. So he definately will be a Red Wing guys. It has been so long since there was a hate on Elkund thread (maybe a couple of days) so I wanted to reiterate how much I hate this man and his I'll print anything anyone says approach. Really how on Earth can the Ducks take on 6 million? Didn't they recently waive a great goaltender and make a horrible trade to save like just barely enough money to bring back Old and Dirt? I don't get how this cap thing works I guess.
