I don't know about the money situation, a big name is realistic. It doesn't mean we can't give Zetter Money down the road nor would it keep us from filling out the roster. It just needs to be a good signing more then anything. The cap could explode over the next two years. I am more worried about what it would do if someone we could use more becomes available. I would rather be agressive then bringing back everyone and hoping Bertuzzi plays better this time around. I would be fine with giving the youngsters more playing time, but I don't want to sit by and watch everyone else make waves. I think Schneids is coming back, so no souray or any other Dman. One of the youngsters is going to fill in for markov possibly. Though I think Smyth will get an offer, and Blake I think will be the one we sign.

He is an *******, who is also expensive. The worst combination in a cap world. Kipper would be a better add.

Is this all time or currently? Because In all honesty it seems like these lists have some of both involved. Right now it has to be for me Chicago- no tv contract still wins out. Boston- They seem to be making good moves and bad moves in synchro. Atlanta- That trade along with the some of their past decisions. If they got defensive help they would make the playoffs easy. Edmonton- Smyth lost over 100k? Goodbye franchise. Columbus-They are getting nowhere fast. All time is something different.

Ha, I knew I shouldn't have put that list of players up. I wanted the thread to be about will we consider the offseason a bust if we don't land one of those three. The list was just a general guys I like, not guys who fit or who I expect to be wearing Red. Just ignore that part.

I can see people putting their two cents in on who we sign and trade for, but not who we draft. They always draft people in their manner, and not according to rankings or mock drafts. With crappy picks never the less they fill the farm system every year. I have no worries, and don't feel you should even bother investing energy in predraft stuff. Let me know when the draft is on, and after I will assess. Still knowing that it will be years before we say, wow the wings did it again.

The real question is does Nashville deserve a team, and from all I can see the answer is hell no. There is no secret that Marleau fell out of favor in San Jose. This is realistic to me, provided that there is some sort of balance to it. Perhaps they will move another free agent to be to Buffalo to that would be cheaper to sign. All this goes to show is that the NHL needs to follow the NFL and make Free Agency come before the Draft, this trading players rights s*** is lame.

Without a doubt Schneids is better, but then again what are our plans? It may be better to go with Markov if Kindl is coming up. Or maybe a younger Souray to replace 23? Personally I think a tough stay at home guy like Markov is much easier to replace then a powerplay specialist with a toughside.

I hate the suggestions for our blueline they give. To me if we don't get Schneider back we need to think about Sheldon long and hard.

I think we just got screwed by the inflation this causes. I doubt that we will be able to swing much. I hope we can land someone that will help without it leading to cap jail.

I am just glad that this takes us out of the JS sweeps. I don't like him, and I have a feeling he would suck for us.

In some thread earlier in the year I pointed out that during a very un-Lidstrom streak where he was getting -3 type games his numbers slipped in a manner that took him from a sure norris winner to a toss up between him and Scott. It was at the end of the year, so that usually would be what they decide with. I thought Lids lost it at the end of the year, but overall over the whole year/career he is better then anyone else in the league today.

I hope he plays til fifty, though the last year should be in chicago.

Wiki= anyones opinion. Don't give this a grain of salt. Odds are against Lidstrom now, I hope he gets it but I don't expect it.

If I was at this press conference (the burke presser), I would just ask one question. If this happened to your player, are you saying you wouldn't be demanding a suspension? If they said no, I would respond bulls*** and walk out.

Am I the only one who this scares the s*** out of? I mean it does make it harder for them to win, but they still are on their own ice. They can win this game, especially if we play like we did late in game two where it looks like we don't want to win. Pronger will come back pissed and maybe be a huge difference maker. If we do not win this game they will bring the series back to Detroit with alot of momentum and a slim chance to win at home in game six. Game 4 just became a must win IMO. Pray people.

I got totally screwed, I set the DVR to tape Versus for the Wings game as I had to work. I get home, and the damn thing is blacked out. I guess they showed it on some other channel, and it wasn't listed where on the guide so I just got screwed out of watching my first missed wings game of the season, and it was a round clincher. I need help. Does anyone have a digital copy of the game, or an iea on how I can see it over the internet or could send me a dvd copy or anything. I am s*** out of luck right now and could use a bit of friendlyness to ease my pain.

I am worried that we won the series but lost the playoffs because of that hit on Schneider. He wasn't as good as Pronger or Scott, but him and Lidstrom fit better in the team then the Ducks top two and made the entire team better chemistry wise. We are getting thin, and this time its at the top of our teams strong suit. Not good.... That being said, I still remain optimistic that we can pull through with the interestingly solid Quincey, Lebda the unsung hero, and Lilja the X factor picking up the slack. I pray Kronner comes back fast or Schneids gets a rod put in his wrist.
