Oh and how the hell is the Calder trade crappy? I think he would play the first night he is asked to.
-
With the addition of Calder Bert makes the most sense, he really does. I don't see Blake being an option, and everything else sounds too expensive. I am pissed we missed Smolinski, if we managed to get him with Calder we could have moved Lang and picked up more. Now the only way to get another center is pay out the arse for it. The options are getting smaller, and I don't think that all this sitting on the sidelines waiting for prices to come down to overpay for someone. I am confident this group can win though. So we shall see.

Dang, oh well a rest put him on this tear. Maybe he will be even better when he comes back.

Wings acquire Kyle Calder in 3-way deal
Majsheppard replied to WingsFANstuckintheSOUTH's topic in General
Tell me about it. This was a REMARKABLE trade. It is so hard to move someone with that much money still on the contract. If you do not believe me look how it was a three team trade, which is a hard in itself. It was a monumental task and they picked up somebody who has nothing but upside. Plus all we know he could be gone by tomarrow! It is absurd to complain so much over a guy who already proved he doesn't fit. I predict a top pick and one of our three stable D-men (not Jakub) getting moved for someone else. Though with the dropping costs, it might end up being a third pick for Bert. -

So will we finally not have a foward on the point in the pp? Because that would be great. -

Actually Calder is like Cleary in that he was suppost to be great when he broke in with the Hawks, and never became what people thought he would. Now maybe we shall see... besides its shaking up a worthless part of our roster which might not be a bad deal. -
Smolinski to Vancouver for 2nd-round pick in '07
Majsheppard replied to Vancouver Wings Fan's topic in General
Gah, I'm upset that we didn't get Smolinski. I am glad that costs are coming down, a second for Zednik was a good deal too. -

Link it or it never happened. I am on TSN, I see no word of this happening. -

uhh, in the last 10 minutes I have read that we have gotten Calder, Blake, and Guerin. I am not buying anything till I sees it on a major site. -
WHY am I forced to watch the Leafs play the Flyers when Buffalo Ottawa is on! If they fight again I am going to be pretty upset. This leafs game isn't even that big of deal, the Leafs are chasing a playoff spot, but a blood feud is brewing! I hate the Leafs being Canada's team, possibly more then the Cowboys or Yankees being America's team. Show me the SENS!

Wings have made an Offer for Jason Blake
Majsheppard replied to russianswede919293's topic in General
Well I am worried and anxious, but sitting around here isn't helping. I am going to watch Mystery, Alaska, the Gold medal game, and Slap shot until something happens. Anyone who wants to join me can do so. I am just glad we aren't paying the cow for some beans. -

I don't know about wonders, but it would be like picking up another Cleary. That cannot at all be bad, unless of course we overpay. I would like to see Blake on the second line with Lang and Franzen. Franzen really played more of a postive role then anyone save Holmstrom in the Nashville game. -
Couldn't disagree more, Lang needs to be on the second line or off the team, as much as I hate to say it. I see that Franzen is trying harder then anyone else right now, so he belongs on the second line, as he had as many scoring chances as anyone against Nashville. He could one day be better then Holmstrom, and his effort is enough now. I assume that Sam will round out the second line, and until then Filpula needs to be given a chance. Personally I think that Drapes and Cleary should be on the third line and get moved up to replace anyone that slacks off on the second line. This should be the case because these guys are Defensive minded first, offensive second, which is more important on that third line.

I cannot say how happy I am to see the Wings not involved in this madness. I also must say, Atlanta is one of the worst clubs IMO. They don't seem to know what the hell they are doing. They should not making such foolhearty moves. They need to just make the playoffs with what they have and build from there. I want Smolinski now provided we cannot make some other fantastic unforseen move.

I just wanted to know, what would possess the NHL to think that the trade deadline weekend should match up with the NFL scouting combine. Leave it to the NHL to figure out another way to take an exciting event and get it burried in the sports news in America. It is almost like they want no attention.
-
Thank god they going back to the 70's style. Way better then the shark c whatever lame jerseys they have. Although the fade to red wasn't that bad. I don't like the dark jerseys though because that logo is lame. This makes me wonder btw, with the end of the third jerseys which ones will be kept? I hope that the Wild keep their third jersey as their home, and that Nashville lets those baby s*** yellow things go away forever.
-
I can't wait for the day when they won't limit what you want to see by region, instead allow us to use all this technology to pick what we want to see. I know alot of the folks couldn't care less about the Leafs.
-
Yeah you must be right, I mean it's not like Nashville is going crazy hyping the Forsberg trade or anything even though their attendence has been junk. Wake up sir, what makes news is stars and stories. This is a very imporant time to make those stories and get these teams deeper in the playoffs, which is what makes a team popular in their area. That is why teams like the Avalanche survived when the Rockies failed. If you never knew anything about Bourque being moved to Colorado, you prob wouldn't have made an effort to watch those games which means less viewership, less money, less success for the NHL. This laissez-faire approach to Hockey is why it is becoming less and less popular. You have to fight for attention, because we all can agree if you give the NHL a chance you will realize its the most entertaining sport there is. If you don't think it can make a differnce you prob don't remember that little trade that sent a certain player to LA....
-
Hmmm, if you want to grow the brand you want people to pay attention. If you lived in the states, you would realize that Sportscenter is going to talk about the Combine, then Spring Training, then the NBA, then whatever other dumb stuff they got, then the NHL for a half a second. There is no good reason for moving up the deadline IMO, and this just seems to be them showing that they cannot learn a lession. OLN didn't work, and they are making the same mistake by standing in the shadow of others. You do have to adjust you schedule to insure you get press when your doing worse then cars driving in a circle. I thought they got that, I mean check the Wings schedule, no Sunday games until after the NFL season. That is smart marketing, which is what they need.

Doesn't anyone have a problem with the fact that the Blues have said, they want a first and a top prospect for Tkachuck or Guerin? That is absurd for a rental player, and I don't like Tkachuck enough to part with that much. The future is just as important as the present guys, and I think the Wings could win a cup as is. Obviously I want to improve, but not at this price. Samelsson return might be enough to wake up the second line. Only guys I would sell the farm for are Gomez and Smyth. I doubt either will happen.
-
It seems as though Tkachucks cap number is 5.7 million. With the dumping of Joey, and the possible move back of bonus money. I don't think we can afford him without moving someone else.

1270 Sports: Babcock says "players will be dealt"
Majsheppard replied to The Enforcer's topic in General
Okay I just heard from a TSN podcast, that the Blues are staying the course. Meaning that they are not making any moves unless the high price of a first and a prospect is met. This will change if they slip more. So anyone thinking that a trade between the Wings and Blues is going to happen, I wouldn't count on it until after Sunday's Game between them and the Hawks. IF they lose the price might fall. If not, then someone is going to prob pay the price for Guerin and Tkachuck. -
It has been brought up, but I still say that if he was going to be on the fourth line he would be a fine pick up provided we give up nothing. He is the type of guy you either love or hate, I love him because he is akin to Brett Hull. Got a mouth and will use it.
