1270 Sports: Babcock says "players will be dealt"
Majsheppard replied to The Enforcer's topic in General
MacDonald might be related guys. I think that if Liv is the guy that is on the trading block, they would want MacDonald to clear waviers so he can go back down to Grand Rapids. If he doesn't clear waviers. Then who cares. A little more cap room for us and another roster spot we can fill with some griffin. That is funny, because St Louis is like the only place with a Higher crime rate then Detroit. Guerin is acceptable to me, but Tkachuck is not. Really neither will be worth the price they are asking. If we can get away with one of our stable Dmen for Burtuzzi or just a conditional draft pick I would prefer that over giving up a first and hudler for any rental player. -
This seems to be the primer for sure. When Joey clears waviers it will be Saturday night. We will have the games done and nothing but time before the deadline. This is going to be either explosive, or very anticlimatic. Taking all bets. Oh and one more thing, if Liv is on the block like some have suggested. This could actually be in order to drop Joey back to the Rapids if we move Liv.

1270 Sports: Babcock says "players will be dealt"

You have to give us more context then that. Are you saying that he wants to move someone on our team, or are you saying he will definately make a move for someone. I don't get what your trying to convey. -
I do know that Zetterbergs 10 GWGs are best in the League. I propose we call this line Teh FTW line because ZFTW. I am happy we drafted a guy who can be clutch in the post Yzerman era. I am happy that people are taking notice. I am happy that I am soooo smart that I bought Zetterbergs Jersey at the Joe during his first career NHL game. Zetterberg.

I wonder if we could talk Ziggy to come out of retirement.... He would fit, if he could play that is.
-
Elkund at it again. Blake and Smith are on Hollands radar? Obviously if the price is right everyone would want Smith more then Blake. Though you have to wonder if Blake wouldn't be a good addition....
-
Very good point. If we can trade Hudler for Bert straight up, and get Smyth too? Should we do it?
-
Okay, I didn't read the whole thread, but is there any thing else they want? Hudler for Bert is a great trade off if straight up. I agree that Hudler might be good in the near future, but there could be alot more demanded for Bertuzzi. A fourth liner for a second liner? Sounds good to me. At least you wouldn't be selling the farm. Plus we could always make another move to get something else possibly.
-
Alright with the possiblity of getting the right player to fill out our offense, and so many questions about what we can do for our team next year with who we can resign. Should Detroit be sellers at the deadline? I know our record says no, but our roster seems to say yes. If we cannot improve our team, I don't feel too secure about a deep run at the cup. Maybe we should look at moving Williams, Lang, Schneider, Maltby, Chelios and whoever doesn't fit into our long term plans. We could always pick these guys back up after the fact and restock our farm system. I only ask because it was the consensus that we needed a youth movement before the season started, and now that our trade options are dwindling playing for now might be counterproductive. Maybe that youth movement wasn't needed then, but right now at the trade deadline. Oh and Pavel too, cannot forget to suggest to get rid of him while we still can get something for him.
-
uhhh, no that is really really dumb.
-
I would totally take him if just for the entertainment value. That being said, I would want Lang and Willams both traded before hand and Smolinski out of reach before I would consider it. Also anything beyond a last round pick might be reaching, maybe we can get him for a dollar! I could see him being on our fourth line and being the experienced guy with two youngins. Him between Jiri and Filpula or Samuelsson might work.
-
Well considering what we paid for Lang, and the fact that he isn't horrible we can still get something. No way will it be what we paid, but I would imagine a prospect in the mid to early rounds and a middle round draft pick plus some sort of conditional pick could be involved. Best bet is Williams and a conditional pick prob around the third for Smolinski. I think that might fly, if not maybe we can convince them to take Lilja as well. Also I wish someone would take Girotinkov in one of our trades, I think that is never going to pan out.
-
Cleary is actually a huge reason we are as good as we are. Williams is just lost on our team. He doesn't belong and that is the complete thought you should have when it comes to him. I do think he could be valuable to somebody, just not us. This is what I propose, trade him to Chicago for Smolinski, and trade Lang for some prospects. Then pull the trigger on a winger at the deadline. That would balance out our lines for sure and make us a bit more formitable. Zetter Pavel Homer Cleary/Tkachuck/Roberts? Draper/Lang? Samuelsson/Bertuzzi/Guerin? Maltby Draper/Smolinski? Franzen Hudler Filppula Langfield/Samuelsson That looks like what we are looking at.
-
Schneider is too important, plus who wants to really fool around with our chemistry this much right now. I will say that he is looking slow comming back from his injury and I really hope that is temporary. I really want to see him win a cup.

Who wouldn't be unhappy with going to nashville. 1. Baby s*** yellow hockey sweaters. 2. Nothing but horrible country music non stop. 3. Fans who are more interested in watching cars drive in circles then seeing a fierce body check or a masterful one timer. 4. NON STOP COUNTRY MUSIC! 5. Sweden is some part of Russia to folks from Nashville.

Here are my rules. I think we are going to be in huge cap trouble, and our youth movement has been going great IMO. So I do not want to see anyone traded away with a future possiblity. So I think the only folks I could not be upset with being traded are; Lang Williams Lilja One of the three ready for the NHL prospect Defensemen. (obviously the worst one ) Oh, and Pavel Datsyuk. I don't think any real insane trades could come from these players with the exception of Datsyuk. More importantly I would look to deal picks because we seem to do fine without first rounders anyways so the hell with them. I really could see Hudler and Fillpula playing together on the second line in time. I do think that we need the young defensemen ready to replace Schenider and whoever else might wonder off from the team, but I do not want to see them touch the starting Defensemen right now because I think that is why we are where we are. Honestly I do not see anything on the trade market that screams prefect decision. Forsberg and Bertuzzi are Intriguing but I think the majority of people would agree they are very risky plays. I much would rather see a Guerin or such rental player come aboard for Williams and a draft pick. Something that won't hurt us now or later. All those folks who want to throw Kron away are idiots. He has skill, he just needs experience. I would say the same for Jiri as well.

me too. I am going to go boo the sieve as much as possible. -
http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/news?slug=roto...owire&type=lgns Okay I know he has a hefty contract and I know there would be more to work out beyond this, but could we make a move for a much needed right winger? I know they want a goaltender, perhaps a sign and trade with Manny? Or maybe we can unload Pavel, who is worthless in the playoffs for a right winger counterpart in St. Louis. I know they are in alot of cap trouble because of the Richards contract, so odds are we would have to sweeten the deal. Here is my concept, Pavel, Manny, and some other players for St Louis, maybe Grahame, or maybe Modin or Vinnie. Wingers for the win! Or if they don't want a center maybe we can move a Maltby or picks or something and then move a Lang and/or Pavel for something else in a seperate trade. The major goals in my mind are to dump Pavel this year, maintain the majority of our youthful players, and make the cap situation no worse. If I was around I'd think Tampa would be a a major target for a trade partner.
-
One Pavel was not even under contract the time. Two I am sure then others were also not. Third, someone would have more then likely been traded as well. Lang might very well have been traded, and maybe that is what would have happened. I am just saying we heard the rumors and I think we missed something there. Zetter and Joe as the top two centers would have made for a far better two some then Lang and Pavel . Now maybe we have a shot at Zetter and St Louis I would love to see that, if only until the trade deadline.
-
Okay we all heard that we could have traded Pavel for Joe Thorton when it looked like we couldn't sign him. We apparently passed on it, and well it looks like San Jose made off with a steal. I am saying fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. Let us not keep making mistakes.
-
I do not get why people think Datsyuk is any good. I would much rather get St Louis who is faster and can score better and has the same passing skill. He just doesn't have some of the moves. I would sacrifice that in the fact that Pavel will not be on this team next year more then likely, and Pavel will never drive us to a championship. Wouldn't you much rather see Zetter and St Louis with a quality left winger, possibly Modin? Maybe even Vinnie? Something has to be done, we need speed and Wingers. This seems like a strong step in the right direction. The 6m a year might seem like alot but if we dropped Malts and Pavels Salaries it wouldn't be a severe strain. More room for youngsters to come up, and a possible All star that could be trade worthy down the line.
-
You cannot play expecting to get injured in any sport. That is not a vaiable reason for not playing. The only reason to not play is if he thinks he can not contribute. I have a feeling he could be a huge factor for the sweedish run. They got enough star power and hard working guys to win but lack the depth of Canada. If Kron is their 6th or 7th Defensmen it could make all the difference in finshing 4th or 1st.

You simply do not know anything. I am so glad they have an ignore button. All your rumor posts are completely lacking any creditablity.
