To be honest, up until a year ago, you couldn't hit this guy. He was almost never in the position to be hit. I have noticed his game get worse over the past few years, and this is one of the small ways it has. He has to battle for pucks he never used to, because he doesn't get there and get the puck out with the absurd speed and precision he normally does. I want to make this clear because I know people will think I am slamming Lids. He is not playing awfully, he is playing amazing still and better than almost anyone. It just shows that instead of 99.9% of the time making the play without error or fanfare, he is doing it 95% of the time. I think the lack of hits are partially due to being completely surprised that it is there. I mean, when you go at him 100 times in your career for a puck, and don't get near him 99 times, that one time you do will be a complete surprise. I doubt you would even think at that point that a hit can be had. Like Pavel, you start playing more positionally and reactionary, and you just assume you will lose the battle but you aim to win the war. I agree that respect plays into this with some, but I honestly think his skill level is the main reason.

Honest to God, you are so right. What the hell happened to the laws against this?!?!?! I am more than willing to pay 100 bucks for this game. That is excessive and yet I would pay it gladly. The way they decided to do the ticket sales ensures that there will be no less than 20k worth of tickets sitting on stub hub going for 1k each. Now I highly doubt the majority of these folks get much more than 350 for the tickets, but still that is so wrong. I secretly am praying that some psychopath snaps and hunts down every scalper stealing their tickets and maybe more, then just throwing them off the bleachers at Comerica for all the real fans to have.

I have very little hope of getting to see this, it seems like they don't care that people scalpe these tickets. Oh America. Where if you are poor you are worthless. I was really hoping they were going to give our state the first crack. This lottery just means scalped tickets, which means I won't be able to afford this.

Thanks! Yeah, I figure they prob will not allow you to buy many. usually something like four max. I will try for the max, but will be happy with one for myself. I figure there are many like me so why not try to buy the most and give them to others at face. 100 bucks doesn't bother me, but some jerk buying it at 100 and trying to get 1k does. Yeah, by not making a move. It seems apparent that the team feels good with what they have and don't want to mess with the future. I agree with this strategy at this moment. I still would like to see Selanne or Semin added to the roster.

Game 3 (I think it was...) the refs gave them the win completely changing the series. I don't care what anyone says, the refs and by extension the league are who needs revenge on that one. We had control of that, and the NHL decided they wanted a longer series to showcase their precious Crosby and did not want an easy repeat for the Wings. I totally will admit that we could have won game 7 if we played better, and the refs stayed out of that game... I still think that if you are going to play politics in a sports series, you might as well just have a one game playoff then. Momentum is dangerous thing to toy with. BTW, why the hell hasn't Mr. Negative gotten the ban? I would have figured that with all the hate on him for being a troll and generally offensive, some mod would have removed him. His name alone is offensive enough IMO.

Yeah, but you only get so many chances in a time frame. Lids will retire eventually and then we will take a huge step back. There is no guarantee that we will be contenders after that point. Columbus has a power forward in Nash and can't do anything with him. I am not saying we will become the BJ's... I am just saying that we are going to end up having to give something to get something. I stand by thinking our European prospects being better than our North American prospects in forwards.

Well you might have to wait a long time. Also there is no telling if Howard will be here when Mrazek is ready. Howard might command more money then we will give him.

I think Semin has been forgotten. He might be the best bet to fix our offensive problems on the top two lines. I just don't think it is going to be cheap. I stand by my list of people who we should not trade. I just don't think Emmerton draft picks and maybe Sheahan will be enough.

You can't pick someone off of waivers and put them in the minors. They have to go on the main club roster, then they could be sent down and would have to go through waivers again. We would have to expose one of ours to waivers. Right now I don't think that is worth it.

Sorry but you are wrong. Bishop was named recently the best goaltender not in the NHL by some periodical... I forget which. They will not be giving him away for "anything." Halak, Elliot, or Bishop will be moved. Bishop is the likely candidate, but they will be looking for something of good value in return. I expect they will want a good prospect back. Plus, he is in division and has no playoff experience. The Wings won't be in on him.

Yeah unless someone were put on waivers, traded, or placed on IR. Now would be a good time to make a trade of roster players if he was planning on it.

I would be really happy if we decided to move Emmerton and someone else off of our roster along with the expendable prospects for Morrow right now and plugged Stewart in as well. Anthony Stewart on waviers... Honestly, I would rather pick him up for free here then go after Moen. Moen is way better, but honestly Stewart for free is a decent deal for a RW shot and some size.

You need puck hound net crashers for that. Last time I checked we don't specialize in that. There needs to be a power play specialist or a true get me the puck so I can shoot it type guy on our team. We need a top six forward through trade. I have to say the coaching staff doesn't really do a great job either getting the most out of the guys we do have right now.

The only way I want the Wings going after Dmen, is if they move Stuart first for someone like JVR.

It has been made clear again and again and again that he has control of his own destiny. If he wants to stay a Duck, he stays. If he wants to leave, he leaves. That simple. Wait and see what happens. He did come back thinking he could win a cup. There is no chance that is happening this year if he stays with the Ducks.
