    Scott Gomez

The owner saves money. The GM saves nothing against the cap, because the buy out money stays ON the books. If the GM banishes the player to the minors 100% of the money comes off the books, just the owner needs to keep cutting checks. I say let them rot in the minors. I remember saying I wanted Gomez... It was to be our new third line center making like 2.75 in my mind. Yeah, that is his role. Not top line center. If some random guy in Detroit knows this, the GM in Montreal should.

    Trade Deadline Approaches

I think he would be a good addition... I just don't think we are willing to pay the price for him. There is talk of him fetching the kind of price Hossa got a few years back, because there is so little out there. I liked the idea of Rutuu when he was the cheap option with a ton of upside. Another team... Carter is available. I don't think the Wings can pull him, or do I necessarily want them to... I remember last year when I said that the Kings got Richards and should have got Carter, and vice versa for the BJ's. Any chance they just straight up flip them now?

Who Could be Dealt at the Deadline?

Teamu Seleanne is the only target that I think makes sense with the "we don't want to spend a lot" mindset. If that costs us Sheahan, I would consider it.

Who Could be Dealt at the Deadline?

I covered this in the Sheahan thread... but in interest of disclosure. I have seen him play in person once. I have seen his play a few times on air... mind you mostly from last year. Nothing about him strikes me as a beast. I keep up on his stats and the scouting reports and nothing stands out either. Maybe I am missing something, but as of right now he has always been slated to be a fourth liner with potential top 9 forward ability. I have heard he has improved greatly over last year, but all the more reason to make him a trading piece. You just have to realize, to get anything good you have to give up prospects. I am in love with almost all of our prospects as evident by the list I made. Size doesn't impress me much anymore because I have seen so many amazing players without it. If he could be used to bring back something to win us a cup, I would make the deal. I however don't want to give up these great prospects we have gotten like Pulk, Calle, Smith, etc. I think this is all moot, as Holland doesn't seem to have the balls to move anything for anyone.

    Tomas Jurco

I still have my doubts about this kid, but they are based upon his unwillingness to go strong to the net 100% of the time. He reminds me of Franzen like that, but when his motor is running he is a beast. I just know we won't know if he will be consistent at playing an NHL game, until he gets to the NHL. I do suspect that will happen.

    Riley Sheahan

No, I am saying that I have watched Sheahan a few times and was not impressed, and the same goes for Ferraro. I am saying nothing more than that these guys are the only forwards that were drafted high that I would want to get rid of in a trade. Nothing was said about their value. I just would rather have almost everyone else of value stay in the system. Sheahan might be improving, but I disagree with him being anything more than a fourth liner right now. I can think of a few guys that I think might be first and second liners and they are all Europeans right now. Sorry that they are smaller, it just is the way it is. I would love to be wrong about Sheahan, but like you said Ferraro isn't worth s*** to trade right now, so if we need to give up a prospect to get someone at the deadline this year... I really hope it is Sheahan or Quellet.

    Awesome game by Zetterberg...three assists...

I don't know how they miss an assist, but did anyone notice the PA guy last night give credit for Millers goal to Howard? Goal by Howard he said on the final time. I was perplexed.

    Moen / Gill / Allen

Note how fighting has not turned the Oilers game around. What turned it around was scoring. Our problems (when we have them) has nothing to do with who is fighting, it has to do with the fact we aren't scoring. It has nothing to do with the fact that we don't have quality depth, it has to do with our top six. We need to add a good top six forward and balance out the talent. I still say Fil Dats and Franzen need to be together on the top line... but there is nothing else to make the second line really respectable. Cleary, Hudler, Bertuzzi, Homer... these guys cannot help Zetter. We are two top six forwards short honestly... Maybe Hudler and Zetter can work together if they get the right chemistry guy. Zetter needs two solid linemates, because he makes people better around him. The Wings have three guys like that right now and can only build one line because they also have three guys that make the guys around them worse!

And yet this is all Holland seems to be talking about?!?

    Trade Deadline Approaches

I know he said this, but AGAIN WHY DO WE NEED THAT?!?!?!?!?! Look at the depth chart, we have no shortage. The only thing the Wings need is a top six forward that will allow us two top lines.

2/4 GDT : Red Wings 4 at Oilers 5 (SO)

I love Drew Miller. I can't believe the other day someone said on these boards he would personally pack his bags. Cheap and effective that is how I like my depth guys.

    Scout watch.

We have a joke from NHL 10; no matter what, it is only a matter of time before Regehr is acquired for Franzen. That trade ALWAYS happens thanks to the bad AI on that... Seriously, I don't see them making that move as it might cost too much. Also do we need to put Mike and Jakub on the bench?

    Scout watch.

Just a spot to drop scout sightings... example Per the Ottawa Sun’s Chris Stevenson: JUST WONDERING: Detroit Red Wings scout Kirk Maltby has been following the Buffalo Sabres around. Could the Wings have an interest in Sabres forward Paul Gaustad? If it’s not Gaustad, Canadiens winger Travis Moen could fit the bill for added grit for the Wings“ I wonder if there is anything else the Sabres are thinking about dropping.

    NHL Investigation

I have noticed this before in many arenas... I always thought it was Fox Sports not having their clock properly aligned or something like that... This raises questions, but it prob is just some stupid adjustment.

Howard has broken finger, Joey Mac recalled

SO there is new conflicting news from the twitter verse. First Howard is practicing already. However there is, according to him, No way I miss less than 2 weeks and as much as 4-6. Pain is the issue.
