Just watched them debate whether Osgood deserves to be in the HoF on TSN. The debate pissed me off of course, there was nothing but the tired defense of the good team issue. Best quote I read elsewhere said, I find it odd that every single player in the HoF played for awful teams. I digress. What pissed me off the most is they argued whether Cujo or Ozzie belonged in the hall, and the Pro Cujo guy was like, he was a great goaltender on average teams... he didn't get to play in Detroit with such a great team... :blink: Ummmmm... How the hell did you get on TV moron. He did play in Detroit, for a team with tons of HoF players. He got bounced early. Why do you ignore this?

I guess they didn't factor in unrealistic expectations... but the Wings are the easiest NHL team to love as a fan.

6 Million left if he is taking a million. I said before that I actually wanted to see Larsson play in the NHL, so I am disappointed by that. But Conklin was choice four for me. Osgood, Larsson, Volkoun, Conklin. I am by no means mad, and I am sure he will do fine as long as Howard is healthy.

It would hurt the least, everyone knows that. However I know everyone will still be rooting for him to succeed. No one here wants anyone to fail... even if they say they want to trade them. Even Hudler would be welcomed with open arms if he pulled an 80 pt season and a cup out of thin air. Yet if Commodore is the guy that takes his place, I am sure they will root for him instead. We love all our players when they are ours.

When it comes to picking your number, sometimes other factors should be considered. I know I would want that sweater...

Even worse is this is the only sentiments this guy ever has, negative troll-esk stuff. Kudos to your statement. The rest of us shouldn't have to deal with it? Is there a banhammer to be had? Even his name is offensive. Extremely offensive. This is no coincidence.

Saw this, couldn't believe it. I really think there couldn't be a worse move then bringing him back.

Great numbers.

Physical skills were great beyond average, except for size. His glove was the best I have ever seen. If he had some of the gifts other goaltenders had in addition to what he had, he would have had a hundred more wins. No doubt, I actually think that this might be the only way McCollum would possibly rebound is if he learns how to be a stone. Osgood as a zen master is about the only thing that can make some broken goaltenders whole.

At some point they will need to get creative, but that is okay.

ESPN doesn't know the name of players who are playing, let alone the prospects. We have a strong farm with a ton of players with upside, and the ability to sign big name players. I don't think there will be a huge fall. I do think ESPN is the worst sports journalism in existence. I think they are tabloids. Just saying, they make stories and run them into the ground, the definition of a tabloid. They are a tabloid.

Call me crazy, but I would put Brodeur and Osgood before Roy. Roy was not as talented as Osgood, nor did he win the big games as much. He was much bigger, and had a bigger profile in net. I am not going to hijack the thread, but I respect Osgood way more. Shocker there, huh?

I really wish I wasn't out of Positive votes for the day, because there are a ton of great sentiments being thrown around.

He really was the Ying to Osgoods Yang in that regard.

Like I said, what is the worst that can happen? LGW exploding and Eva talking isn't exactly my worst case scenario... Honestly, none of that is of consequence. I much more care what happens to the Red Wings than what happens to the forums at LetsGoWings.

I also want to say how much we will need to thank him in the future, as a new amateur goaltender development director/scout he will have a profound effect on the development of our future between the pipes. We HAVE to be excited about that. Osgood, more than anyone, knows how to be mature and cool under the highest scrutiny, and knows how to tweak your game even to the point of reinvention. He will be excellent in said position. Doesn't mean I am going to put up with it, that guy is dead to me.

I just wish the media would cut him a break and honor him like he deserves. He deserves a lot more than some hockey fans and writers would give him. Puck Daddy decided to take this opportunity to slight him and call him overrated and unworthy of HoF talk. The moment he is retiring is when he chooses to write about this. Osgood gave me many of the best moments of my life. He always acted classy, he remains the only Red Wing that signed my stuff without hassle or cost. He played his best when they needed it most, and I cannot say a single thing bad about him legitimately after his being around for 16 years. Thank you, I hope you get what you deserve in terms of Honor.

I am so pissed at the writer of Puck Daddy right now choosing to attack Osgood at this time and say he needed to go and that there is no question he is not a HoF goalie, and there is no question he doesn't belong. I mean, you can save your opinion for a bit until after he is done retiring dick. Go f*** yourself. I know I am not reading his s*** again.

Oh and this "source" stuff has been heard before. I don't buy it right now, not because it isn't possible. Because nothing seems to make sense here. Too much uncertainty, and could be just speculation at this point. I guess it is best just to figure things out as they come.

At this point, I think the only thing to do is go to bed and find out tomorrow. I can't trust anyone right now. I am trying to go to bed in the mindset I had earlier.
