Conference call seems to indicate that there is no retirement. Also not having a contract doesn't equal not playing. A relationship like that could indicate a gentleman's agreement they will have a contract in place soon. At this point in my career, I would even consider not using the agent to save some money. What negotiating has to be done for a bare bones contract with a father like figure?

I don't know... I really don't. It makes no sense for a conference call to be the way he retires. Almost a slap in the face. I just know I am PISSED. All of this anxiety about it, followed by a bit of happiness that a really great guy gets a chance at redemption and to silence his critics, only for more uncertainty and a possible let down? I just feel upset about it. Worse then feeling down about something is getting fooled about what is going to happen... and getting let down. Still a conference call.

True, but they didn't have to play those games if they didn't get the series momentum stolen from them. I don't care if it sounds like conspiracy theories or whining, I know what I saw. Bad calls that allowed an inferior team to extend a series, and ultimately win by the slimmest of margins. We don't get to call that one a championship, but I will always be satisfied knowing we were the better team and have found peace with that. Osgood unfortunately needed the actual credit more than just the victory of the soul.

I have a feeling this CBA will be really easy to accomplish. The players have grievances, the owners have grievances with each other, but overall the issues are very small and the league has stabilized considerably. There will be a scare over it, but they won't miss any time. Which is a good thing, because if the NBA misses the whole season (which I am predicting.) Then the NHL will grow rapidly in popularity around February.

Good point. Everyone's memory I guess is fuzzy. If the refs didn't hand them a game early in the series they would have won and we would have a different tone in these threads. Before anyone denies that and says he would still be encourage to retire because of injury, ask yourself if you ever thought that about Yzerman?

I want to touch on this quick. Twitter is great for getting and giving info. For players, this means only a few things. You can try and promote other things you are doing, which most fans could care less about. You can respond to what is happening in your sport, which can get you into huge trouble and make you look foolish. You can respond to fans to make them feel important, which has little payout and can get you into huge trouble and make you look foolish. You can have an account and do nothing with it, and it may eventually get hacked leading you into huge trouble and make you look foolish. Or you can not have one, and the world moves on. I am not against them having twitter, but honestly there isn't much benefit to it for players, coaches, GMs, etc. It is great for marketing, journalists, comedians, and similar types. Take Hank for example... He has a clothing line, a superstar status, a hot wife... His tweets would be boring like. Congrats to my wife for landing this gig. Oh they will command money for sure. This is why I don't think the Semin deal is a possibility. The money Hudler is getting plus the money for our other exiting UFAs could cover (barely) the raises for Stuart and Kronner. As well as short term deals with our prospects and supporting casts. Lidstrom then comes off the books and you could figure his money would go to a new number one, or the pot for everyone. If that is the case we are under the cap for two years in a row at least making sure we resign our best players over two stressful offseasons. If he doesn't use the money on rental players that is... All this means is he could possibly make a move for Weber or not. It just is reading tea leafs. I don't know if I have ever written my thoughts on the most sly concept of why the Wings want Weber this year... I believe that if Weber was acquired prior to Lidstrom deciding to hang them up, Lidstrom would stay longer. Therefore making a trade where we lose four first round picks worth of talent or more would be worth it, if you figure you might be getting TWO Norris Trophy Candidates. (One of them a prolific winner of the greatest NHL Defenesmen trophy...) That is why I would be willing to give up a bunch.

I broke them up by what hand they were. Almqvist is already one of my favs. I swear he will be Brian Rafalski jr. He just needs a ton more time to develop. lol smith and Sproul would be a disaster in real life. No defense all offense.

He does play EXACTLY like Mike Green. I mean, mirror image stuff. I am surprised he doesn't have the mohawk too. I am hoping he avoids that fate though, because I do think Mike Green is a huge reason why the Caps don't get further than they do in the playoffs.

Agree he is good, but I don't ever think of him in terms of a solution. I don't even think you can throw a very in front of good in that statement. At least I don't think you put him on your wish list before a Weber or Suter.
