I still would love to see him get destroyed by a hit from a Red Wing, get up make a turn over that leads to a goal, then hear the crowd chant Mar-ket Val-ue! clap clap clap-clap-clap.

Which is a great way to say be a dick because that is more profitable.

Not really... Though Pyett has shown enough that I could see him catching on with some NHL team as a 7th or 6th power play specialist. If he did, it would be for a bad team and would most likely stunt his development. His defense is not where it needs to be and I suppose that he will have to find another place to develop and learn the craft. He is much like Rafalski at that age. Still much to figure out before he can go forward. He will most likely be in the AHL for many more years then get a chance with a team like Florida and play a few seasons tops. Anderson is showing more of an NHL caliber, and at a position where there is more chance of him making a team. He has the brain to play both ways and looks like he needs fine tuning to be a depth forward. He is a good teammate and can do many things you love to see, including blocking shots. I just don't think he will ever be fast enough or tough enough to be a gritty defensive forward that he will need to be in order to have a role with the Wings. Though it is not set in stone. He projected to be a third liner, and I don't see him being better than the others we could eventually put in that role.

No reason to, but I will say there is no reason not to either. Besides slighting Draper of course... We could sign anyone we want to with this much cap left and let them battle in camp and waive the loser. At least that is how I would play a situation where I have more cap left and a set roster. I would always try to get better.

When players go to arbitration they go to get a contract. If the team rejects the contract, the player becomes UFA. If the player rejects the contract they basically don't play until they honor the contract. If they play the contract it has no affect on their UFA status. They follow the rules as normal to the best of my knowledge... I find it less likely to get Either of these Rangers than it would be to get a Weber. They are just as loved and the Rangers will pay them.

With six million likely in excess cap, odds are that if we lost all of them prior to the deadline we would make an addition via trade.

Leverage, or Phoenix changed their offer. *shrugs*

None of this affects us, they will act big and bad. They will get penalties, we will not respond and most likely we will win the same amount of games if not more. Let them continue to spend money on guys that will help them beat teams like San Jose, but not help them beat us.

Great for Grand Rapids. Great for insurance, though if we get to the point where we need Janik and Exelby we are really in trouble.

Not saying PHX will trade RFA dman Keith Yandle, but my sense is PHX will gauge his trade value as it considers all options (trade or sign). Per twitter Bob McKenzie. Can we do it? What would it cost? Would it possibly be as easy as giving a ton of picks? Hudler, could help them reach the cap floor?

Wings sign D Ian White to 2-year, $5.75m contract

To me, that kind of character is something you should always want to collect for a team... Even with teams like the Lions that were always awful, as long as they didn't collect the bad type of people for players I was generally happy. I would suffer a ton of losing for players with class. Yet when every aspect of your organization just drips with class, you never have to suffer much losing. This is why White is a great fit in our organization. -

Nothing spectacular, but he isn't a liability as a skater by any stretch. Most would consider him speedy for a defenseman. He skates better in a forward position which surprises me. Honestly, his positioning is usually conservative, and if he learned how to balance out his positional game a bit better (and Lids can help him with that...) He could end up being better than Rafalski many years down the line. He has more potential than Raf ever did, however Rafalski really learned from his experiences better than White has shown. The guy was built though to be on the power play, if he was 5 inches taller he would be top five power shots. He is active on the backend and will get power play time next to Lidstrom no doubt. I believe he should spend the whole year with him. White might be a Wing for the rest of his career, and he knows that. Which is why he took the cheap deal to get in the door. His next contract will be more expensive and longer term, but Holland Jim will gladly make it. I have him as number 4 on this team in terms of dman, but with the upside to be the top Power Play guy and log many offensive minutes. Edit: grammar. -
Fixed it for you. That will be called the whirling dervish defense.
-
Now if they can somehow trade Marleau for a good player, they might actually have a shot at the cup. They still have two huge chokers there in SJ. Yet the players around them keep getting better.

Pass. I just want to say, if Howard goes down in the playoffs... Who would you rather have start? Conklin or Osgood... Easy answer for me.

I would have loved to have Volkoun for that much....

Good signing... We are now about a push for defensive ability on the back end, but lacking in offensive skill that we had with last years core. NOW SIGN BOUGHNER AS THE COACH ALREADY SO THEY CAN FREAKING COACH THESE BOYS UP!!! -
Wasn't the best Dman on the Griffs?!?!?! He only had 12 goals 20 assists in 63 games and was plus 7 on a horrible team...
-
I wouldn't at all be afraid to throw Jurco in as well.

If this stands, we have to keep Smith in the minors and call him up every time we need a sub. I will be mad if we call him up to sit, and I will be mad if we sit Kindl. The opportunity of this disaster is that we can get the young guys in the mindset of carrying the team when Lids leaves. EXP that is the name of the game now.

I couldn't be happier we didn't get Wiz. The guy strikes me as a piece of work. The E contract pisses me off, but not to the point where I am furious. I am just disappointed because we are not better than last year. We are clearly worse.
