Of course, but just as you don't paint a single group with one brush stroke you cannot pass blame on to another group in totality. It was clear that there were people involved that were hockey fans. Blaming anarchists for the riots is like blaming Mexicans for unemployment. While it doesn't help, it sure isn't the the only cause. What on earth would have happened if the Canadian team lost in the Olympics? I would like to point out that most of the citizens showed up and voluntarily cleaned up the mess caused by the other half of Vancouver. Good job Vancouver, one black eye and one proud teared up eye. Now if it happens a third time... you really have some explaining to do. I actually think because we had A REAL BAD RIOT in Detroit that came from a major social problem and caused a scar that still remains to this day, we have learned not to go insane for insignificant stuff. Our history has a ton of violence in it, and most of the time it is for reasons of significance. Now we have had instances in East Lansing and even Detroit in 84' but the damage is no where near this, and the violence was 1/10th of what Vancouver just experienced. At least to my knowledge no one has been killed. Though some of those people could have won a Darwin Award that night easily.

Sigh. This is a new one to keep in your pocket. Just say that the riots were started by Anarchist "disguised" as Canucks fans. What a lame excuse. When I got drunk at my cousins wedding and punched the bride, it was actually anarchists disguised as me.

Back to hockey... The only Canuck that really made their stock rise was Bieska. He played excellent in that series, and I want him more than ever. Of course it means it is less likely we get him. Boston really saw many players increase in value. I really was blown away by Ryder in this series as a potential UFA. He really never stuck me as a player who played up to his own skill level, and he changed my opinion of him even though he did not contribute as much as other Bruins.

The funny thing is, no coverage in the States at all.
-
Another reason this won't happen now.

It is starting to sound like this is a done deal. Even the Wiz himself is tweeting about possibly of going to Detroit... Assuming that this is a real account.

What have we learned from Modano?
-
Everyone here from Detroit better remember this if the Lions make it to the Super Bowl. DO NOT LET THIS HAPPEN HERE!!!

Deal. I wouldn't miss Sheahan if it meant Larsson. We need the Dman more than the center. I would offer him, our first, Hudler, and maybe another first next year to get a blue chipper right now. EDIT: Almost forgot to throw Hudler in. Which is against LGW rules to leave him out of a trade concept.

Timmy Thomas has had the best season a goaltender ever has had. If they played him instead of Miller in the Olympics, perhaps he would have joined the triple gold club too... Big IF... He might not be in the Hall of Fame when his career is over, but this season will be.

I have a strict no-douchebag policy.

If he wants to sign for league minimum... that might be a different story.

Good collection of photos. It isn't hard to notice that there is practically no one over the age of 30 taking part in this. Most of the people were in their twenties or younger.

I don't hate the Canucks, but I am really glad they lost because so many of the players whom I liked were acting without class in that series. Canucks still remain in the top half of teams I like in the league. Boston just happened to be the team in the East I liked second most this year, and one of my all time favourite teams.

Any excuse to loot. Shame.

I don't get why you wouldn't want to sign both of these guys for the league minimum. Osgood is as good as any backup in the league and would be as cheap as possible. Draper would be cheap and played better than most players in the playoffs. I don't want them to take time from our youngsters, but it doesn't seem like there is any chance of that happening anyways.

I can only hope so as well, but it doesn't look good. If I was wearing Bruins Gear I would grab a cop and ask them to get me out of there.
-
But with less cool Presidents with the middle name Mountain Dew.
-
I always feared such a thing when I wear my stuff in another city. Unconfirmed reports that someone has died in the riots...
-
Sad.

Honestly, I could only be happier if he won it for the Wings. Great finals, great guy. Not like those Vancouver fans... morons rioting now and throwing things. This whole series was about the classier people getting rewarded, and that is what I love in sports.

Fifth pick is available... at a cost. I wonder if anything could be done to secure that pick? Wanting at least a top forward to make the team better fast. I know Hudler isn't that, so no one suggest it... Yet maybe he can be part of a package? If Larsson is available at five... maybe it would be best to trade Filpulla and Hudler with the first round pick for fifth overall and get an amazing defenseman prospect? Then we would have to fix the forward group by going after someone like Richards in FA. A crazy long shot, but if the Islanders are offering. I will take it. Some are suggesting Carter will be that player traded, which could lead to secondary movements... such as trading Carle away to allow Larsson to step in. Discuss. demands.

Am I the only one that thinks Draper was one of our better forwards in the playoffs this year? He outworked half the team and certainly was a role player. Seeing that we only really have two players coming up and we should be losing two forwards... Why shouldn't we keep Draper?

Mike Gillis announced forward Mason Raymond sustained a vertebrae compression fracture. He is expected to be out 3-4 months. Via Twitter. I really hated Raymond this series and lost respect for him, but this was not something I wanted to see happen to him. Hope he gets better sooner and without any lingering effects.

"There’s lots of qualified candidates, people who have been in the industry as assistant coaches, people who have been head coaches," general manager Ken Holland said. "Mike Babcock brings names to me. I’ll sign off on whoever Mike wants on his staff." God help us all. That is not how a coaching staff should work. The GM should bring in the best guys that fit what the team philosophy is, and check to make sure the coach doesn't have a bad history. I don't like this one bit. Is this how we hired McCrimmon? This made me feel worse about our situation.
