I would sit back, and laugh at Brian Burke. A successful trade deadline once again has come and passed! Serious note, I just want to move Emmerton and at least one forward in order to be better prepared for next year, allowing Mursak and IFil onto the team. If there was some way to improve the Defense by doing that... I would. However, there are no names available that are clear cut improvements. I also wouldn't want to move Kindl or Jonathan yet as I want to see how they develop a bit more. Honestly, that just leaves Salei for a minor move or one of our top four. I just can't pick one guy rumored to be available that would be a huge upgrade... If Weber was available however I would go get him at a huge cost. Including any of the prospects not on the no trade list below... which isn't enticing... Picks... and maybe a few people from the AMAZING!!! list of players that would be available. Right now though, the list of players I wouldn't trade is just too big. Teemu Tatar Jarnok Nyquist Mursak Smith Almqvist Mrazek Parkes Maybe even Ferraro and Sheahan The list of players I would consider available if I were GM from the team. Bertuzzi Hudler Miller Kindl Salei Honestly, there is practically no value there to be had, at least not enough to make a deal come together. I would add other players if the deal would be a blockbuster win... again I just don't see it. I guess if I had to pick, it would be to go after Bogosian. I know they want a dman back... So Kindl would have to go back and that is not even close to balanced trade. Maybe if they were willing to take Kindl, Emmerton and a pick... It would be like getting two first round picks both as ready to go now as ever and maybe a pick on top of that. I would even give them Meech (what a nice guy I am) I have to believe Atlanta would find a better deal than that, or just sit on Zack. That is about the only thing I would be compelled to do as the GM... Unless of course I could steal Weber. This is all in good humor too, I also expect zero significant movement.

It is puzzling... They really want to be the big sellers when they would have been able to just make a minor move or two and been contenders next year??? They must just really want to be the youngest team in the league no matter the cost.

The best thing you can say though, is he is indoctrinated. The guy knows how to play Red Wing hockey. He will always be a good teammate and give it his all. He just has never been anything more than a role player. Lucky for us that is all we need. The guy is solid and we shouldn't give him crap. It isn't like we are paying him four million or anything.

I said last year that he shouldn't even be on our team anymore, not because of his skill or quality. Just that the greatest asset he brings to our team is mucking it up in front and the league decided to neuter him on that front. I don't think we need to get rid of him because he comes so reasonably priced and his value is measured in the locker room as well. I love Homer, but I am glad to see him on the bottom lines. His skills are many but he belongs on the power play but not the top six. I think he will pick it up, but we all know the refs won't let him be as big a factor as before. His rep is just too big of a deal. Without that netfront presence, he just isn't anything more than a fourth liner now. It would be like buying an Iphone that couldn't do anything because it was on a crummy network! In this season there are too many pieces for him to be featured, but there is going to be a time when we praise the heavens and the front office when he tips in a big clutch goal for us, and the refs actually let him have it.

I think this is the correct sentiment. I want him to recover and have a normal life. I don't ever want to see him play hockey again though. I hate this guy and his lack of respect to other players. I think he is dirty and would rather he not be in the league. If this is the reason he isn't then okay. I would rather it be that he is healthy and working at a car dealership or something. I wish him the best, but I don't wish he returns to the NHL ice. I do not think anyone's lot in life should be a determining factor in whether he should get help and succeed. McCarty, Probert, Tootoo... in my mind are no different than alot of damaged convicts and low class people who have a hard lot in life and can easily fall. I am all for a safety net for everyone and a helping hand to bring them back to respectability. I don't however think anyone wants to help people get back to a spot higher than most people can ever achieve, and certainly when there are good people who can fill that role. I hope Jordan gets his act together, but wouldn't you rather someone like IFilpula, Matias Ritola, Meetch, or so on and so forth get that NHL spot then this guy? Honestly if you can root for the guy to leave the league for any reason, this one could be the best. He has support, and maybe he can make his life better than ever now. This is what I want for him. We should all want this kind of redemption for all fallen human beings. I am not saying we want people who screw up to rise to the level of president, or people like Vick to return to be MVP. I don't want that at all. I do want those people to find peace and contentment. Honestly, if they weren't looking for it, would they have started with the drugs or bad behavior in the first place?

Video Games are not a good indicator. I have won 40 Stanley Cups in a row just simming because you can fleece other teams because machines can't trade worth a damn. I would have to agree, but there is an old saying that the team who got the best player always wins the deal... That might be Dallas. Goligoski could end up being the best, but the cost they paid right now is absurd. Neal is the type of forward you covet. 30 goals are hard to come by, and if they don't sign Brad they really screwed up their team.

That is funny. The way I read it, he says it is just a fact that they can't play in that building anymore. (I don't get that because we have played in our building even longer...) Edmonton shouldn't think that the team will just continue to play in this city without a new building. I find that to be a threat, build us an arena or the team will move. Any trade would have to be for the future and not the present. I just don't see an easy way to improve this team. The future is foolish to trade for as well, because this might be Lids last year.

Why? I mean tickets alone would make more sense to sell more tickets than get a larger percentage of much fewer tickets. It would make sense by far... Why not just make a deal with Michigan and host a Michigan/Michigan State baseball game at Comerica as a double header with the Tigers and call it even. Hockey does not belong anywhere but an ice rink, unless the event makes it such a milestone to draw attention. Clearly in Chicago and Boston the ball parks made the most sense, due to history. In Michigan the history, size, and atmosphere all point to the big house. There is no way that that park in Detroit is better than the Big House. Not one way.

I am pretty sure that we don't have any need for anyone with how stacked our farm is right now, plus we keep signing our farm players to expansions. IFil Corey and Jan all have a claim to a spot next year, and there might only be one opening... On D there is Smith and Jakub fighting for maybe one spot again... Signing someone else seems unnecessary... Though if someone makes alot of sense, I doubt there will be any hesitation.

I am pretty sure that until this year he led the league in shots stopped. He has always been high in save percentage on some really bad teams. Obviously he isn't top five goalies in the league, but I think he is in the top 15.

I would still take him if I had the money and no ability to make a better move. On the short term he can be a third pairing guy that you put on the PP to fire the puck at the net. The guy has a cannon shot, so honestly if you have no one better to put as your number six, getting this guy at 2.7 wouldn't be the worst on the short term.

Yeah, that to me is no different than the coaching staff standing and applauding a player or team for reaching a milestone in game. Happens all the time. Organizations should show respect for each other. If every team wanted to do this I would be okay, because its just celebrating something that keeps hockey true to it's roots and relevant. I don't think you are overvaluing him... He has the makings of a very good defenseman, just because of one bad incident that set his career back they would trade him? Honestly he was the reason I thought the Blues were on the right path. They got quality back just it seems like they might have given up too soon. Oh well, let us wait and see who wins this deal.

I agree. I think that we should have gotten Craig if it was at all possible. Even next year when he goes UFA. The guy is nuts.
