One thing I would like to know... It might be that I just don't understand or it might be that there was misreporting but... Osgood was said to have a groin tear, and then gets hernia surgery... I thought a hernia was when a stomach muscle tears and the entrails push out through the tear... So did he have a groin injury and a hernia, or just a hernia, or is somehow that one in the same or are they not doing surgery on the groin tear but they are on a hernia, or did he get the hernia in philly, or did he get a hernia from throwing that win 400 weight off his back... Oh wait I just gone crosseyed... Seriously though, anyone hear any more info on this? Edit: addition from Joesting DR. "Diagnosis and treatment of sportsman's hernia". Curr Sports Med Rep 2002;1(2):121-4. PMID 12831721 via wikipedia, "The term hernia thus is a misnomer, but has persisted, as surgical reconstructions similar to those performed for inguinal hernias are often effective for "sports hernias" as well." Thus solves the case of the missing hernia...

How can it be an All star game when you pass on the stars in order to have all the teams represented? If the NHL is going to pick these players, and the fans are going to pick players, it only makes sense for the writers to pick players to round it out. Honestly, Zetter and Ralfalski belong as do several players that are left out. I guess if you wanted to make the All star game relevant through this school yard ploy, you should make it true by bringing in the best. Why not just let all the players in the league get picked?

All I know is, the non hockey pundits over on ESPN really dig this series. I even heard them say it was the best look at sports ever, even giving it higher marks than NFL films. I don't think the extra exposure to the Wings would make me hate or love them more than I do so I am indifferent to them being involved.

I would love to never hear that guy speak again, reading his quips or an occasional blurb on HNIC is an upgrade over getting stuck with him for full games in the playoffs.

We have alot of talent on the team. I still want Hudler traded so I can be sure we have the roster space and cap to keep these youngsters on our team. Eaves might be worth something on the open market, plus we have to make room for Emmerton and Mursak. Holland could make it work but I am unsure. These injuries do make it easier to get rid of Hudler, but make it harder because we need him now more than ever. I feel like if he is going to get traded it is going to be in the off season.

When will they start handing out six game suspensions for these hits when they DON'T injure someone... They need to do that to stop these hits. And when someone with a record does a cheap hit and it injures they need to be punished far more severely. Six games for six to eight weeks is not acceptable. As a league they have to realize what they have done so far has not taken injuries down a peg, and we have to bring it up a notch.

I have never been so entertained by a thread. Seriously though, I thought Hudler was a great fourth liner for us in the playoffs and has potential. He has failed to meet it and the simple fact of the matter is his nearly three million dollars of undeserved salary is desperately needed next couple of years to help us keep players who are performing better in various roles from leaving. I don't want to lose a Helm or an Abs for Hudler. I kinda right now wonder what Mursak and Emmerton would bring to the team and wonder if we will get to see what they bring without creating space. Hudler makes the most sense to move for addition from subtraction. I hear what you are saying Eva about not giving him a chance, but as of right now he hasn't even warranted a chance in the top six because we have had 13 forwards playing better than him right now and I am not talking in statistics but in effort. It could be possible that it all changes for him, and his short term success might mark that. However, his own admission is that this doesn't mean everything is turning around. My link"It's got to be continuous now," Hudler said. "It should be. You have to stay with it. From The Detroit News: http://detnews.com/article/20101229/SPORTS0103/12290321/Jiri-Hudler-won’t-say-second-goal-means-slump-is-over#ixzz19WKKWS5y I agree with you that it is possible for him to get hot, with his abilities coupled with power play and top six responsibilities, and the fact that he is not a defensive minded player he should be putting up 80 points. I am not holding my breath though. He clearly is the Vile Leino of this season. We most likely will either hold on to him and hope he plays better come the playoffs like did a few years back, or we will trade him for less than he is worth and he will play a better game in a bigger role for another team.

Unfortunately the NHL Network is not something that my cable provider even knows exists. I wiah I just had TSN, I bet it is on that~!

Really? How the hell is that Stuart's fault?!?! THAT IS HIS JOB TO PUT IT ON NET FROM THE POINT. The game of hockey involves risk and Cleary skated into the path of the shot. He did so willingly because he wanted to potentially screen or tip. That was a fluke. Anyone who is mad at Stuart is being absurd.
-
At this point... I think it is a very bad thing. We need to start thinking about getting rid of Hudler. It will be a tough decision that could have regrets either way and we need to know if he is going to step up quickly because the deadline is coming. f***, another heart and soul guy goes down. Be good Clears!

I have no idea how to get to watch this now that I cannot go Anyone have ideas?
-
I have to say, I needed a game like this. Keep it up guys! I love to see Franzen, Zetter, Cleary, Bert, Val, Homer, and so many more just skating a bit harder and making better decisions then in the last game without Pavel. I feel better about our efforts.

\ The difference is that boarding is always considered the most dangerous and violent crime in hockey resulting from normal play. Knocking a person head first into the boards is a paralization risk. I am not saying really that the blood is the defining charecteristic. Although the league uses that for high sticking so there is precident for that. I am however saying that I am not one who believes in any sport the penatly should be based upon how baddly you injure the person. You could say Helm was just lucky to avoid serious injury. The league makes these calls as the head shots are being cut down on with extra attention. I just would perfer that anyone who does something stupid like cross checks someone into the boards be dealt with as such. I was surprised that drawing blood by doing that wasn't a additional time because the violence of cross checking is simular to slashing or high sticking when drawing blood. Some one falling down from a trip is not. I only wondered if there was a reason, such as if it was just discretionary. Apparently that is how the rules are, and I thank you again for putting that up.

I won't be watching either. I did learn once in my angry life that you can't call sitting something out a boycott. You actually have to get like a large portion of the population to avoid what you want for the same reasons as you for it to be a boycott... The Winter Classic has lost most of it's appeal since it became an NHL thing... I liked it better when it was a couple of teams figuring it out... with the Wings game exception... If there was a way to voice to the NHL that I am displeased via boycott let me know, but as of now I will not watch and the NHL will have no way of knowing as I am not a Nielson family.

I love it~! How long till iFlip gets a call up? I still feel he might be a Pavel sub with his brother on the second line. Sedin-ish... in my dreams. I am starting to worry if we have room for all the talent in the pipe! haha. Good problems to have, wonder if we can translate that into another dynasty... Or will the NHL require a young superstar to be given the chance... Anyone want five quality players for a first overall pick? Jk haha.
-
Thank you sir. You would think watching hockey, playing hockey, and basically being a viewer or player for over 4000 games would bring me that knowledge. There is always something new to learn. I will repeat though, it seems wrong that the only difference in the call is whether or not Helm goes out on a stretcher...
-
I am still holding out a bit of hope that Jan Mursak will be just that... Helm with hands.
-
Perhaps, but if that is the case it should be changed. Also, can I play lawyer for a second... If his stick wasn't parllell to the ice and cannot be as such without being lifted to a high level, then would that not be high sticking to cross check Helm into the boards. As blood then followed from the high stick it should be four minutes!!! I will say that I am not happy that he gets two minutes but if Helm went out on the stretcher he would have gotten a game misconduct...
-
Can someone explain why that wasn't at least a 4 minute misconduct? He drew blood by illegally boarding him, I was under the impression that this would be 4 minutes if not a five minute misconduct... At least they got a goal off of it, but still does anyone know why the blood rule is not in play?
-
TSN brings up the question.... Should Iginla be traded? A good hotstove concept for sure, but what do you think? Should the Kings make that move? Anyone else you think could get in on it? The Flames are a going down in uh, well... I couldn't be happier about it but now will they go nuclear? Discuss

Way to fight with a visor on and then just keep pulling to knock the guy off balance. That wasn't a fight that was a grappling match.
-
Personally I say TUUKKA RASK is the goalie I would take as of this second to build a team around.
-
He sure started off the season poorly. Played in just one of five games and has a 5.06 GAA.
-
i thought he was taller... In fact... http://redwingscentral.com/stories/2010_10/20_RWCReport.php lists him as 6 foot 1 inches... Which makes sense to call him rail thin if he is that tall and that thin... Anyone can confirm his actual height?
-
The only way this makes sense is if you gather that he is the youngest one of these goaltenders. Luongo is the clear choice if you are talking about the next 5 years. If you don't think so check out his numbers compared to the all time great goaltenders. His are very competitive and that includes a ton of years on a crappy team. Brodeur is the clear choice if it was in their prime. I still don't know if Howard will have a second good year let alone a career. I would take him as my goaltender without complaint, but I don't think he would be in my top five choices for franchise goaltender. Unless you are giving me him at his current salary... I would gladly take him at his current salary for his entire career, just as I hope the Wings manage to get him locked up at absurdly underpaid scale.
