One, you are in agreement with me. I didn't complain about the size. Two, Tatar might be a top line guy, should at least be a top six guy at worst. Ferraro Might be a second Center, but that is not a given. Nyquist strikes me as an excellent winger and should be on that second line. Emmerton is not a top six guy, he was supposed to be a third line guy and I don't see him on that either with the way our team is chalk full of players that fit in that spot. This kid we just drafted could be the same type of player as Emmerton. It feels like we just gave up on him with this pick. I know he hasn't impressed me in GR. Nestrasil, and Pare may not even make the NHL, that is far from a given. I like our farm system right now, but when you get a really RARE 19th pick we need to hit one out of the park. I am thinking someone like Mike Richards who was 21st pick I believe. I still don't like the idea of getting a role player with a first round pick. I bet that this was their forth choice, so you can't fault them for the picks being gone before they get to them. As for the Dman we passed on that was a mean mother that Montreal picked, I am not worried a bit about our D corp. We have a bunch of quailty guys in our system. Forward was a bigger need. I just hope this guy is in Jordan Staal's league. Then we can play him on either 2nd or 3rd and get at least 20 goals out of him. I am in the middle, I am not going to give Holland a tounge lashing, but I am not going overlook the fact that we have needs. I thought him a god until he decided to resign Bertuzzi the third time.

So then... where the hell is Emmerton supposed to play? He is not a top six guy, and not a fourth liner... So is this a admission that Corey is a bust? We need more playmakers now. As it stands, unless we pull another late round pick out of our asses, then when Pavel and Hank retire, we are going to have an old Johan (maybe) Fillpula, Tatar and possibly Ferraro. That doesn't even sound like playoff cailber. Edit: Nyquist as well.

Exactly, we have alot lacking in two areas, size and top scoring prospects. We have a metric ton of role players. The biggest problem for us was last year is the only two forwards that filled that size and scoring level requirements were Johan who was injured and Bertuzzi who was a turnover machine. a 19th pick may not necesarly get you both of those things, but at least this kid is not 5-10. We shall see about them in many years... though I would gladly put this guy in right now over Bertuzzi. At least we still have Tatar!

The Yotes look to bring back a classic this playoffs. While I think it is a great thing for their fans to get into the playoffs as such, we obviously want to show off how much we like our boys. In this vein, I suggest everyone else who attends any game in Phoenix this postseason wears all Red to stand out from the white out. Send a clear message to the players on the ice and the fans watching at home that the white out signifies Yotes fans, and the Red signifies Wings fans. I hope to see more red then white, as I have been to plenty of Yotes games and know there are as many Wings fans there as Yotes. So even though our white sweaters are the best in the league, wear a Red one instead, failing that wear a red shirt and a red hat. If you have red pants and shoes, wear those too! I think a friendly little compettion for the fans would be great. So suit up boys and girls. I also catch the irony that we will be wearing the white in Phoenix, apparently they don't!

The only Red Jersey I have is a Duchene Jersey gameworn in the 2000 playoffs. I am going to break that one out.

Seriously though, when are there not BS calls against us. Honestly I look at the teams in the playoffs, just in the West I feel the league would rather see the Yotes, Nucks, Sharks, Kings, and of course the Hawks go further then us. That isn't even bringing up the East which has the poster children of the NHL in it. I have a feeling that the Pens, Sabers, Sens, Bruins, and most of all Caps would get the calls over us this year. I firmly believe that the league handed the Pens the cup by fixing game three. I always expect them to make calls to extend series and give extra chances for the best market teams to advance. Phoenix could use a deep run. Honestly if they were to make the finals the franchise would instantly be viable. People just want a contender. I mean how else can you explain the Penguins selling out now?

I hope he gets signed by Chicago somehow, that way we can beat him even more often!! Guy can't beat us.

Souray is actually pretty good, but he suffers from Kovalev syndrom. He has one good year, then one bad, then one good, then one bad. Next year should be a good one for him, it will be undoubtably if he is out of Edmonton!

I could care less if the player doesn't want to play in the AHL. Seriously, it only hurts the player himself. If we sign him, and he doesn't make the team. You just waive him and let him go elsewhere or home. No harm in that. It isn't like we would lose anything because of it.

Okay, first off, this isn't AT ALL hard to do. The reason you don't see it is because it wouldn't fool a goalie worth a dime. You cannot get much power off of it. I have seen a couple of times where you can put it top corner by doing that, but I have only done it once and the control involved is so minimalized. 88 times out of a hundred you will get a little floater like you see in the video that a kick save could stop, 1 time out of one hundred you will hit the top corner, the other ten times you will sail it wide and high. General rule of thumb, if I can do it an NHL goalie can stop it.

Problem is, I don't think we can sign him. As of right now, according to NHL rules, we cannot sign players to next year contracts exceeding a set amount of our possible Salary cap. Remember when we could only sign Franzen or Hossa before the next season, or the issue with signing Zetter and then having no potential cap left. Not that we would go over the cap, but the league has some rule in place to prevent teams from going over the cap in the future so they cannot sign people like this, unattached AHLers, or former retiries to future contracts before the offseason offically starts. Basically they don't want teams to broker undrafted prospects beyond their cap capablities. We are going to be right up against the cap again, and with Homer being up much could depend on him. Also Jiri Hudler is still our problem. Though he doesn't count against the cap, his arbitrated contract is still on our books potentially. If he were to change his mind next year, we would be require to play him the 2+ million that the arbitor gave him. I believe that makes a signing like this unlikely. Long story short, if we choose to sign him, we have to be below some percentage of the cap with all the players on our books for next year. Whatever that number is though it most likely is lower then our preexisting cap. That is if I understand the NHL rules correctly, and I have been wrong before with these overly complicated rules. As for the player, why wouldn't you want a player added to the system for no cost or risk beyond the salary?!?!? Lenio proved one thing, if you sign someone who is young enough you can always trade their ovreated selves away. He is likened to Steve Sullivan. I would be down with that, he can be a point a game guy when he is on. If you were watching the Olympics closely you heard of him. He really was their best player, and if they were able to actually beat some people and be in a medal game, he would have gotten all the credit. There were three players in that tourney that I said would be most likely playing North American hockey very soon on the way to the NHL. Zuccarello is one of them. The Swiss forward, whose name escapes me is one, and the former NHLer from sweden is the other. (No, not forsberg )

True, but we seem to be the only team in the league that the cap effects. I think it is an improvement. Besides, they dumped Toskla's contract so they are okay.

My trade of the day has to be the final one of the day. The Ducks just made a great tweak to their team by bringing in another versitile defenseman. Really in terms of offensive skating defensemen, they have two of the top ten, if not top five.
