2010 NHL Trade Deadline Thread - March 3rd, 3:00 PM ET

I just am saying that I think there are some people who believe that the damage done by the injuries would have been greatly reduced if we had a better offseason. I know the scoring has been an issue, but not as much as the turnovers IMO. Personally losing Franzen was a killer, but nothing that should dropped us as far as it has. The real problem with this team has been the stars not pulling their weight. I still think this has to do with them dragging the players that I believe are causing defensive shortcomings that Datsyuk and Zetterberg have to compensate for. I think that adding Miller has strengthed our team defense a ton, but how much better could we have been if we had a little bit of money when this fell apart. It really is six of one. We have been screwed from the begining of this season. I just think if we didn't sign one guy, and didn't start in Sweden, the season might have been greatly different. If we make the playoffs, I will back off my issues. If we don't then we have to look at this as a bad offseason. Though I still think that Holland was extremely wise to take Franzen instead of Hossa. -

I agree with the first statement, but I think the second is up for debate. I know better then to actually debate it, because you get alot of opinion based on emotion. I would say that overall, I like the way the team has shaped up. The Miller aquistion is better then most of today's trades. I will say that the team made one horrible mistake in the offseason. If that one signing went the way I wanted, we still wouldn't be making a deal, but we would have had far more points in the boxscore. -

I am just wondering where you get 38k from. These numbers are so hard to follow. I remember them having to clear x amount for Lilja, and I guess Maltby was worth 800k and some change. I think Lebda is worth 650k. When I was looking at the numbers earlier, it looked as if they could move Lebda and a draft pick and the cap space would cover the 150k difference between Maxim and Lebda. I don't know if that is correct or not, as it seems as if every website reporting the cap room is different. I wish the NHL would just accurately report it online for us. -

Brunnstrom is available!!! GO GET HIM!!! -
In all honesty, Holland just traded a 28 year old for a 23 year old. That is a good trade anyway you look at it when neither player is a true NHL player. I would like to point out that we actually used Newburry for a couple of games this year, perhaps this means that a deal is on a way to reinforce the depth at forward.

Afinogenov is the only one that is possible. I just don't think he is a third liner. He would have to be a top-six player for us because he would be the third best shooter instantly on the team. -

I don't have the zest for this years deadline. I think it is mostly that we will not do anything. I think it also has to do with the fact that most of the great deals have already happened. I still pray we move Lebda and something for Afiniganov. 800k salary should be doable now that Malts is gone. I know Holland said he didn't want to risk thining the defense, but our forwards are now thinner then the defense. Meech, Tolf, and Janik should be enough to cover Lilja and Lebda depth wise. This is the only trade that makes sense every way around, and I think this is the only trade that could happen. I hope it does happen. Otherwise I might just take a nap. -
Milbury does this on every single broadcast he is attached to. I don't think it is an act either. He just is a tremendous ******. Seriously, he is a prick hat trick.

2010 Winter Olympics - Sweden vs Germany (Group C)

He would just need Modo to sign off on any contract he signs, as per the transfer agreement. Same thing we had to do for Axelsson. I really am mad about this, but he really did headline the World Championship teams for the last few years. I hope it was a reward for one game only, because it seems as if that could hurt the team down the road. He would be a perfect fourth line player to have though. He will contribute points and is a trustworthy international player. -

I like that reason. Bravo. Though hope it doesn't mess up the team along the way. -

I forsee that Forsberg will play on either Washington or Chicago this year. -

You will never give me a good reason for Ohlund and Enstrom playing above Lidstrom and Kronner. -

Mattias Weinhandl, serriously what do you think the Sedins will do with Mattias Weinhandl . These lines are awful. The best two shooters on the team are on the third and fourth lines?!? Forsberg has been out of hockey and is pretty fragile, I would use him more sporadically. Backstrom is the the greatest playmaker they have not named Sedin. He should be up with Zetter and Alfie setting up their goalscoring ability. Franzen is the perfect fit with the Sedins. Think about who has been sucessful with them. The large guys with a scoring touch that go to the dirty areas. Mule would set Olympic goalscoring records with them. The lines are the reason the score is only 2-0. These are awful lines. I mean what even about Lidsrom being on the SECOND defensive pairing??? -

Got to see a dream line of Ovie-Datsyuk-Semin last night, I just want to see Sedin-Sedin-Franzen tonight. -
I just don't get the rational. Like all the ads that are on now aren't enough??? We hear the words Belle Tire more then we hear our own names in the course of a year. What purpose is putting it up there? As for all of you people who are like just ignore it. What will we have to ignore next? It was annoying, and doesn't actually do anything but distract. If anyone has the number to Fox Sports Detroit, I say we start calling and complaining. It is the only course of action.

So the real question is how do we fight FSN on this? Is there a fan protest set up anywhere? I would get involved. At least make a call and an email.
