Flames are the big winners thus far. Jordan Leopold is underated and Olli will help them.
-
For my fantasy team, i'd love Bouw to go for Bieska
-
I am praying to the god known as Holland. Sacrificing virgin chickens praying for a miracle. I am asking for Bouwmesster and Staal, if the god wants to meet me half way with Neil that would be fine.
-
I still say Staal for Havlet.
-
Please move Staal out of Pitts, he is too good to be pulling third line duty for those morons.
-
Send Filpulla, lebda, and Stuart to Florida plus picks for Bouwmester, and at the same time send Jiri, Maltby and picks to Pitts for Jordan Staal. Fill the two foward holes with Ville and Helm and put Staal on the second line. Jay and kronner and Lids and Ralf with Lilja and Chelios/Meech.

Sigh, why is this hard to understand. They pay him what is owed left on the contract for the year, this doesn't mean that since there is 1/4th the season left that the cap is only affected by 1/4th the salary. its like this.... If you agree to pay all your players x dollars a day and that adds up to being 226k under the cap, and you agree to take on a player whose salary is 1 million, just because he is only owed 250k left, that doesn't mean you can fit him under the cap, because that yes you owe him only 250k but the salary cap goes up on the year the full one million. That is to say that there is 40 days left in the season about... so that 226,000 in cap space allows us 5650 dollars a day in cap space for the period. The 1 million dollar player will draw 6250 left per day. You do not get to take the 250k they are owed and pay them over the full season, its the same schedule the former team had to pay him on that you do. So basically the yearly salary is what matters as it makes no difference when you pick them up. Otherwise the salary cap would mean nothing to rental players. The Wings cannot take on more then 226k PERIOD. The Salary Cap does not change through the year no matter how much you want to believe that it does. It is a matter of accounting, and they are still accountable for the salary cap number which is based on the full average salary of the player. Serriously go look it up. That is what counts. As for the Million listed in space on Letsgowings.com, that is based on the money cleared by Homer being LTIR. Sorry to rain on your parade.
-
You are also right about the cap number being divided by the days in the season btw. Just want to be clear on that.
-
look at the cap space.
-
It is irreguardless of whether the play or not, but they receive there paychecks based by games, and this doesn't effect the ability to take on players. If you don't believe me they said that explicitly on Satelite hotstove. It has been in plenty of articles as well. Why would you think that we would magically be able to pick up contracts for less then they are worth. You are on the hook for the remaining amount, and because of that your cap number goes up proportionally. In simplist terms, you go over the cap if your the Red Wings. They have about 220k in space, well below the league minimum. They are not getting anyone without moving people.
-
Oh and Roberts will be a Flame. I'll bet on that one.
-
Not true, the cap number is based by game, every game you have to pay them 1/82nd the value of the contract, and thus every game they must be 1/82nd the value of the cap period. dollar in dollar out. The wings have 220k left in space and no player can be brought on. Unless Homer stays on LTIR for the rest of the season and then there would be nearly 2 million more in space. That is the only magjack solution possible. Otherwise we need to move players to get players, I would only move Maltby, lebda, and kopecky; and Jiri or Val if the player we got was a big improvement. However those seem extremely unlikely. Osgood would have to be moved for any shot at a goaltender, and I hate that scenario. Get ready for no moves folks.

My predictions, Havlet for Jordan Staal. Bouwmesster for Briere, a prospect, and a top pick. Those are the two blockbusters I expect. I'd love to have Staal, id give up much for him.

Okay I have been given a rare trade that makes me freeze solid. I have a great team and are sitting at number 2 in the first year of a dynasty league. Unfortunately I have been fighting my goaltending all year long. My two goaltenders were Manny and DiPetro. I managed to add Craig Anderson and Pekka Rinne to the mix, but that is barely doing it. Now I was offered Jon Quick for Rick straight up. If I accept I have to drop either Sullivan, Jordan Staal, Alexander Edler, or Manny Legace. Manny seems the obvious choice as he is in Peoria. Now I know DiPetro is a franchise goaltender on a really bad team with no prospects this year and might not give me anything for a couple of years... Quick on the otherhand is on a rising defensive team and may end up being the starter for the rest of the year and perhaps for the future. If Quick plays out he could help me win this year, but is it worth the risk? I am completely confused on this one and need imput

technically it isn't racisim. It is ethnocentrisim. There is a big difference, although both come from ignorance. It gets old, but then again we live in America, so you should be very used to ethnocentrisim by now, and you are a hypocrit if you let his bother you while being apart of American society.

Guys guys guys, 3 million for Kari. Simply put Jiri and someone would have to go for him, or Filppula. Unless they were going to take Osgood, and then the wings would still have to swing another 1.4 million. I am completely puzzled about this. There is nothing that I see there of value to us that we can get. Kari is too expensive for a reclamation project.
-
Osgood surely is the Rodney Dangerfield of the NHL. I tell you what, he doesn't get no respect.
-
I bet this means Sammy will resign for the minimum this offseason.

In my dynasty fantasy hockey team I have Rick Dipietro and his broke ass sitting on my roster taking up space. He is done for the season according to everyone including the NYIslanders themselves. So why hasn't he been placed on LTIR? What possible reason could there be for them not moving him immedately to the IR? Best I can figure is that if his number comes off the books they might be below the cap floor, but does the league penalize you for falling below the cap floor due to injury? I can't figure this out but I have been waiting for three weeks to slide him onto the IR, and reclaim Semin off from the IR. Does anyone know what is up here?
-
It is a keeper you know like when I said dynasty, I am not looking for advice. I want to know why he isn't on the IR.
-
Who knows if it was bad? Vs. only showed the same camera angle twice and it was worthless to see what happened. God I hate Vs.

Does anyone else see something wrong with possibly letting Franzen walk being not able to pay him a 4 million contract when, his million plus Val's 3 million would keep him here? I like Val but Franzen is a better player and I like him way better. In fact I think most people do perfer the Mule to Filp. The Hockeynews blog online has suggested that we might even trade Franzen at the deadline to avoid losing him for nothing. If we are even considering it, then we should instead move Filp and keep Franzen. He is bigger stronger and actually shoots the puck. We need a power foward more then another skilled puck moving forward. Hell I would even rather keep Jiri for that role then Val. I am not looking to lose him, I just think that if given the choice between Franzen and Val Fil, it is no contest. I will be very sad to see Franzen in anything else then a winged wheel. Next year.
-
Yeah, and Franzen is just as good defensively. I will say this Dallas game Fil is missing the net consistantly. I agree with you, he isn't getting the time and he is a quality player. I just don't know if we should keep in over someone else. Sammy has outplayed Val this year even...
-
In the words of Liz Lemon Shut it down.
-
If Hossa is really gone and doesn't stop or inhibit Hollands ability to sign Franzen, this still could be an issue in if we keep Jiri or maybe others on the roster. I have a hard time seeing how we can keep the players we should keep. Something does have to give. Just wondering aloud if Filppula is what gives? He really hasn't impressed this year either.
