Impossible to say. Just remember, if he was in all year... Babs might have never found some of the chemistry and power from some of the line combinations. Miller might never have seen his line mates be Abs and Helm. We know how many games that won us. The thing about Eaves... is he is another player that might not be a second line guy and might not do anything on the fourth line... so do you put him on the third over the other guys who are crafted for checking line duty? It is a real dilemma. I think we can agree, if he played some of the games when we were really in depth trouble we might have been better. Then again, Nyquvist might not have gotten comfortable.

These aren't standings, they are a way for you to see how hard a team is to beat if you are going to play them RIGHT NOW. The Wings had losses and injuries pilling up, chemistry issues, and goaltending issues. They will now start to climb back up the power rankings, but don't sweat them. Teams get hot and cold, which is why they try to make a power ranking.

We have no idea how much cap space there will be. I have read everywhere from 6 million more in cap space to the cap going down by 25%. The CBA will dictate that more than anything else, and really we don't know what will happen with that. I suspect that Suter would be added no matter what... I don't know about anyone else.

I hope Almqvist plays a ton no matter where he plays next year. He didn't improve as much as he should have... which usually means leave him where he was until he does.

I gave credit. They beat Carolina and Columbus. They got 4 points. Their is your credit. They still allowed plenty of goals and scored goals against teams who have pretty poor defenses. What more credit do you want?

You have to give a guy time to get comfortable. Remember the great Homer quote... Not saying Emmerton will become anything, just don't give up on him yet. He will have another training camp to figure it out before he becomes either a Griffin or a Tampa Bay Lightning

I read that Almqvist will return to Europe next year... I forget where, but like Sproul and Ouellet... they just want to give them a taste to motivate them to improve. Yeah, the ATO does not affect their standings with their respective clubs. The Wings brass just wants them to play a bit or at least practice with the Griffins instead of doing nothing, but they will not be back in GR unless they seriously impress with the ATO. As always the Wings would rather they over ripe before moving to the next level. Plus, I might be wrong but I believe the three year deals they signed automatically become a four year deal if they aren't brought up to the pros in year one.

Yeah, this would make the Griffins a bunch more fun to watch... How long has it been since this many good prospects were on the team at the same time??? It's almost like the Monarchs out there! Almqvist will be the slowest to develop but could be amazing. My two cents.

Smith brings more to the table right now... but by no means does he make our defense better than with Kindl and E. He does have better speed which can make up for mistakes, but he needs to get better. While I rather see him do it now by playing in Detroit, it does make more sense to leave him in the minors next year and get Suter.

Who said anything about giving up on the cup?!?!? I never said to give up on the cup... I just said lose 4 games and get an easier path. I am talking about winning it by making sure that we have the best path. Look at it this way. If we have sixth and all the top seeds win except our round. (which makes sense because we would be a better team and have a better record than all the possibly teams to face.) Then we would line up with St Louis in the second round, which would be the same as if all the top teams won and we were in fourth. Either way we play Vancouver or more likely St Louis in the second round. My way we lose Chicago or Nashville guaranteed. Dallas/PHX/LA= winnable. Second round St Louis/Vancouver= winnable. Third round would likely be Vancouver/Nashville/Chicago. The difference is whoever it is that time will have had to go through the other two... You can also look at the teams we have a better record against. We would have troubles with Nashville and Chicago. Also, if Nashville beats us in the first round, you can forget about Suter. Other point, you have to know that Nashville is going to get the calls in the early rounds this year. Less likely to get Bettman fixers in the later rounds. I do too, but no where does it say you can't get good habits and still lose. I am only saying 4 lost games with two of them to Nashville and Chicago. Losing those games wouldn't be a big deal if we played hard. It is the same as winning games and playing bad. We won against Carolina last night and played pretty bad at times, and good at others. I much rather would have lost that game and played well the whole time. God knows that happens to us all the time in the playoffs. I would rather come against a hot goalie in the regular season and lose shooting 50 times on net than to have it happen in the first round against the Preds. I have to say I think you are wrong about Vancouver. We can beat them much easier than Nashville IMO. Luongo and co don't put up the D that Nashville does, and their offense can be matched because it is top heavy. Nashville will chip in more goals from all four lines and shut down your top lines with the best D paring in hockey. I also rather have Rinne than Luo right now, something about them is just wrong. If they are missing a Sedin it is even worse. Bottom line is you can go into the playoffs with momentum and a losing record. You can be on the edge of exploding, and then go off. Wouldn't you rather go nova in the first round than against CBJ twice, the panthers, devils, blues, preds, and hawks in the regular season?!?! Lose to the Preds and the Hawks, lose to Panthers, and lose to one of the others once. Get sixth, then win in five against Dallas. That is the best bet.

Sixth place is way better. 3 pt game and Chicago winning would be the best.

Well, his season is over. If he wants I am sure he can be playing for the Griffins really soon. He could have a contract by tomorrow if he wants. Anyone want to take bets? Over under Wednesday?

Ty proved that a big part of this is that the goaltending is just awful. I mean, Pearce, MacDonald, and McCollum each have their own reason not to give 100% and it showed.

I just hope he tears them apart. I also hope we end up in 6th. I don't want to ***** about them letting him play if he scores a gwg on us.

Great list, but it really shows you more success than failure. Really O'Reilly, Lucic, and the Kindl for like five better choices is the only really bad bits. I mean Kindl for Letang would have been an epic improvement. Could you imagine if they traded down and got Neal and Letang with Abs? You always have to remember any pick changes all the future picks though. Getting Letang might have caused us to pass on Smith. Who knows. I like our prospects, but there were some bad picks. Though show me the GM that gets them all right and I will show you a team that never loses.

I watched the final few games of the ND Irish, I have to say Sheahan did NOTHING to impress me in those three games I saw. It almost looked like he checked himself out mentally. I wonder if he gave up on his team knowing he was ready to go pro... Either way I don't think he is making the Wings for a while.
