I would try to bilk Malone into a hometown discount of epic proportions, sign Hossa, sign Redden, and move Malkin for a top tier Defensemen and some more depth. Serriously, Staal deserves to be on the second line anyways. But on the other hand I hope they sign Hossa and Malkin, and in a year from now have to trade Staal away to oh.... let us say the Red Wings. Hey a man can dream....

Any thoughts on who will be the next assistant coach?

I have to say also that I trust Babs. -
Any thoughts on who will be the next assistant coach?

I am a bit worried about replacing him, though I know alot of our players have this stuff down pat. I think Igor is my choice for former player. I wonder if Scotty would consider it... lol. WONDER TWIN POWERS ACTIVATE!! -
Zetterberg named TSN's Player of the Year
Majsheppard replied to datsyukismyfriend's topic in General
This is good, because the Red Wings style will pretty much assure Zetterberg never wins a Hart, even if he deserves it. Which he does. I like to see him get his dues, although he has already recieved the greatest honour ever. I bought his Jersey in attendence of his first NHL game, an honour never given to any other Wing!!! That obviously is worth more then a Hart trophy.... -
They spelled Lidstroms jersey the kid was wearing wrong!!! They spelled it Lindstrom on the back!!! HOW CAN THEY MAKE THAT MISTAKE?!?! Anyways he is the best there ever was Defensively.

Always trade down. Our fifth round picks outperform our first round picks anyways!!!

Higher All Time Ranking: Yzerman or Lidstrom?
Majsheppard replied to GMRwings1983's topic in General
Lidstrom is better, but the amount of class and heart Yzerman had can never be matched. -
Question: Will the Wings sign a big name free agent?

No. -
Lidstrom and Osgood, do they get their numbers retired?
Majsheppard replied to SFwingsfan's topic in General
I think Osgood gets another cup, and breaks the top 10 all time wins. He will have to have his number retired by us after that. I think it may be contingent on winning another one, but its hard to say. Remember this was a guy that got ran out of town. Becoming a born-again Wing and cup hero has given him grace, but has it given him 30 for all time? I am just happy this bull about him being the "worst goaltender to ever win the cup," is over. He still has the moniker of most underated goaltender in my book. -
Man I hate Drew Sharp. He is either extremely negitive, or extremely ignorant. Sometimes he is both. Serriously if one cup was all it took to get your number retired, then we wouldn't have any numbers left. If you want to have a real discussion about retiring numbers, let us talk about Draper or Osgood. There is a debate there, here is just a man who doesn't watch hockey or know anything. Go back to complaining about the Lions Drew.

I don't ever remember any team being so deep and so inclusive with their youth. All the young "Black Aces" being involved in the parade and celebrations, with all their energy and talent when they had to play, with all that they have seen first hand, why look anywhere else? I am offically starting the most boring, hopefully, offseason of all time. I say resign who needs to be resigned, put in Howard for Hasek, and fill in any openings that may occur if Drake or someone else were to retire with who we have. We are going to have sooooo much money and it may be very tempting to go sign anyone we want to, but let us just sit on it and save it for the future. If we do we could see a few more parades in the near future. Besides the next Zetter, Johan, Lidstrom, Pavel, Draper, Osgood, etc., could be right around the corner. The Cap is our friend. Long Live the Cap.

All the people who wanted Jiri moved, or Johan moved, or Sammy moved were all wrong. I will even admit to not wanting Sammy anywhere on our squad, but I don't know if we win the Finals without him. He played allright and chipped in some big goals. Hudler really put in a few clutch goals, I really cannot wait to see if he can step it up another level. Sure we could get someone like Hossa or perhaps someone else, and maybe they may be an upgrade. I say forget it. Give me more of the same.

Alright I rarely share what I know from my sources because I am not a journalist. I usually only tell you what I hear about the Wings in a regular fanlike matter. I do not really care about this method when dealing with other teams such as Tampa Bay. Two big pieces of news that may affect the trades at the deadline. Boyle is the highest target of the Lightning in terms of priority. They desperately want to resign him, but it may cost them extra cash in good faith for the injury situation from earlier in the year. They will move him at the deadline if they can't get the new contract done, and they will get in as buyers looking for a replacement defenseman. More importantly is the goalie search which is in the final stages of a big trade. The Lighting are in discussions with three teams and they are openingly telling the others that one of the three will get St Louis for a goaltender. That is to say that they are trying to drive up the price. Right now they are talking Turco for St Louis, but Dallas wants more because of St Louis age in comparison to Turco. Tampa doesn't want to trade any prospects and think a one for one is fair. Yet right now they are in fact asking fore Turco and a pick. They are far apart. Ottawa is in on it for they want to move Emery for a big piece. Tampa seems intersted enough, but only if a top prospect and at least one more high pick comes with him. This isn't likely to happen as is and Emery is the goaltender they want the least. Right now its a leverage move, but it may go down if and only if Tampa cannot get Turco or the more likely target of.... Al Montoya. Tampa likes him, they think he can step in and play right now for them as the starter. The rangers are liking the two goaltenders they have right now and have just signed a big extention to Henrik. He is the starter for the next six years and now they have a top prosepct goaltender. There is some talk of Tampa sending Martin St Louis and a top prospect for Al. NYR are not that keen on the idea and want more because St Louis and Shanahan may make the team a bit on the old side, can they win now? I am told that the Rangers are interested in making the move more epic. They want Brad Richards and St Louis and a prospect for Drury, Al Montoya, and a pick. The brass thinks that Shanahan, Richards and Jagr will play well together on the top line and Gomez will play well with St Louis on the second line and give them a shot at the cup now. I hear that the posturing of these teams on each other will lead to one of these deals going down. Al Montoya looks to be a Lightning as of right now.

I hate that guy.

Same here, I think I am just going to deny it from here on out. I was just going to do what I always did and just sit under a tree near Hart Plaza and wait for the rally. I could have done that with my ipod and such but when you don't feel great why bother.
-
I tell you I need new friends. No one would go to this parade with me. So I headed out myself and felt a bit queasy, so I turned around. I would have kept going downtown, but man who wants to feel bad in the sun without anyone to hang out with? Oh well. TV for my friend.

You and me both... I made this exact same thread perhaps a few weeks after the trade for Stuart. The only rational I can think of is trying to supress his stats for contract talks. ::sarcasim::

BY MANAM!! I mean... f*** BETTMAN!

I am excited about this and I tell you why. Fabin Brunstrom was getting all the hype for breaking out and being a superstar and this kid did a very simular feat. I am not saying he will be better then Fabin, and it looks like Vilie was plan B, I am saying that this kid can play. I actually hoped not too long ago that we signed both of these late bloomers as it would be the perfect timing to fill out the Forward depth and see what they had before making a call on some of our farm prospects. Plus isn't the Wings the team that always gets a plan B guy and makes him look like class A? Answer: Yes. From the very little I saw of this kid, which consisted of a 40 second highlight reel I can't seem to find right now, he looked better then Val.... Of course I have seen alot more of Val then a 40 second highlight so this says nothing. The guy is fairly big, he has a mean streak in him, has good hands and hockey sense, plus he is a two way player. Sounds like a addition for the Red Wings. In the very least it will give me two players to scout against each other in the coming years.

Did Osgood pick on Drew Sharp in grade school?
Majsheppard replied to Herr Hockey's topic in General
No, but everyone else did. That is why he wins the most negitive sports writer of the year award 379 years running. -
Actually the earliest the second round can end is sunday and since the Stars play that night, I was rooting for the Sharks to win and perhaps on sunday some major event could sabotage the stars for us. You know how the Sharks injured Schneider for us going into the WCF last year... Yeah it would be nice for them to return that favour.

I would go apes*** on anyone who threw beer on me.

I never laughed so much as tonight. That doesn't make it impressive, it makes it embarcing for them. This team was no match for us, the 2002 game was a game seven and was the last game between closely matched rivals. It was far more impressive, anyone who thinks otherwise is just riding the adrenaline.
-
I can confirm that, but this is just something we are giving him to help him think about signing... Just a nice gesture.

If 8 swedish goals doesn't make him sign, I just don't know what will.
