Am I the only one who sees the Pens have a penalty-free run until they score their next goal?
-
Exactly. If we want to watch OHL hockey....hey look! They sell tix to OHL hockey games. Anyways......

CRASH THAT NET! FEET FIRST INTO THE BASKET! SKATE FAST AND FALL HEADFIRST! WHATEVER IT TAKES! {bettman}

whew...... 1-1 1 good goal vs. 1 s*** goal. aloha OK -thank you. Usual stuff from the Grapeman. Do you notice though? These Flames refuse to clear the slots? Like it's not part of the ice surface? I mean don't let THEM know that though. Anyways......games almost back on.......
-
Breakdown please? I miss Grapes......and the CBC.

I have a terrible analogy about this new NHL then. My little sister who works for the airlines on customers who piss her off :"Just stomp on their luggage until you smell perfume". Reminds me of this "Just crash the net" s***. aloha
-
That was a goal?

Please please don't change the sig during the playoffs? Please? shhhhh.....it's working.

Y'know what? I was really really jealous as well till you posted that pic.....nice try man. aloha

Always one of the things that amazed me too about the club during those years. Few other teams kept/are keeping it together like that. The blame rests solely with #19 for that. aloha

Dumbest thing you've ever heard another teams fans say
DaKineMaui replied to theman19's topic in General
.:: THREAD JACK ::.. (sorry) Not sure how many of you regularly hang out with Non-Wings fans and watch/talk hockey etc...... How about the smartest thing you've heard another teams fans say? I forget the year exactly - I'm NOT going to look this up - early-mid 90s maybe? 2nd rd playoffs - Me and the wife were visiting my uncle in Toronto and watching a series between the Habs and Buffalo. I think I was looking for something to argue about or whatever - anyway I ended up spouting "yeah but you gotta agree that Vladdy is the best D-man in the game right now......." My uncle (life-long Canadiens fan), his buddies (all Leafs fans) - all just looked at me like an idiot and knodded, "well YES.....duh." I swear the whole thing started and ended that fast.........was sorta weird. Just odd.......this thread reminded me of that. aloha ..:: END THREADJACK ::.. EDIT::::: Upon further review......this would count as the stupidest thing a Wings fan said that night. -
I see you're from Ontario - not sure of your age, but do you remember the kid's name who used to hollar "NO RAISING! - NO RAISING!". I think he's the NHL commish now. Anyways.....fighting has NEVER been part of the game of hockey. They blow the whistle as soon as one breaks out. Time stands still, so we can enjoy it. aloha

"A quick 1st rd exit could be a little less painful now that we know the Tigers are finally worth watching again." Too wordy? --aloha

All those remarks from HaroldSnepts^^ up there^^ sound right to me. I'd just add that lotsa Wings scored LOTSA points back in those days. Was back when the NHL was fun. No Stanley Cups for detroit or anything, BUT I always found it much easier to get excited about the upcoming game. Looked forward to seeing what some of the nut-jobs on those clubs were gonna do on any given night. Hell - Gerry Gallant was 2nd on that team in scoring? Klima netted 37 goals - 2nd highest of his career. Fun fun fun. aloha
-
.....yet somehow the big key was not toughness at all. No toughness at all. Not the toughness. Not at all. Please make up your mind. aloha

I am ancient by LGW standards. Watched his entire career - rooted for him even when I was a Leafs fan. Regular season or playoffs, skating on one leg or two, 1984 or 1994 or 2004 - if Stevie was on the ice it counts as a PLUS. Maybe 2 pluses. I would never pay too much attention to that +/- stat thingy. aloha p.s. of course if Stevie were a +300 in the playoffs I would say that ALL players should be judged by their playoff +/- rating and nothing else. EDIT - browser went whack upon hitting submit.

Again with the 'prevent' word. Of course your examples above did indeed all happen. All I ask is we take one minute and ponder if players like Stevie's and Gretzky's long long careers just happened by accident. I think it's quite a slap in the face to the other guys. Mess just jumped over the boards to fight (during a playoff series - triggering an auto-3-game suspension). He did this just because he felt like fighting and wanted 3 games off? Gretzky went untouched for the remainder of their run. Oh and ask Stevie if he wants 50 goal scorer Shepp or headcase Bobby on his wing. There's gotta be a reason for his answer. aloha

Thank you for breaking down the 06-07 Wings for us - well me. Well done. (No sarcasm here.) Seen exactly two (2) games this season. Sounds like another good reg season with a system that requires too much consistent hard work for this squad to make a deep playoff run? -oh and I guess I'll give the trade sheets a quick scan at best? Thanks again. - aloha p.s. game 3 for me is next weekend I suppose. Network TV is running ads about some Avs team vs. da Wings. Whatever - I'll watch.

23 pts in nine games? I did the math and that works out to 34 points per game. That has GOT to be some sort of NHL record.
