yes, but if you're throwing stats out there for amount of goals in reference to the percent of goals scored by a player vs. the rest of his team, you're going to get a response like that. If you say Peter Bondra was the best natural goal scorer based on the stat that he held the highest percentage for his team in a particular year you're missing the point entirly. In the example year you gave, Bondra was tied for the most goals in the league (52) with Selanne. Because Bondra scored more of the caps goals than Selanne scored of the ducks you're saying Bondra is a better goal scorer? I don't think that holds water.

speaking of renivation projects,....what the heck have the carolina hurricanes been feeding sergi samsanov? then again i bet i could score goals with rod the bod and ray whitney. Here's hoping we get a cheap addition who becomes a huge force.

Here's a question,...Why is it that "Gretzky's" era should be taken as a grain of salt, but mike bossy should obviously be crowned the king of goal scoring? Gretzy's era was from 80-92ish,.....does that toss out Mario? Bossy? Yzerman? Hull? Certianly not,..but they all faced the same freaking goalies at one point or another. Gretz still had to shoot on Roy, Smith (look it up if you don't know who battling billy is) Granted the goalies whern't what they are today but just because Bure could move blazing fast and could deke better than most of his peers (on what you see as better goaltending) doesn't negate Gretz point per totals. You can say what if all you want and i argue all i want, maybe there is no great one, maybe there's no super mario either think about that one? Mario had his best seasons in the early 90's before broduer, lunogo as well. For that matter, Bure had his career cut short due to injures but his best seasons where in the mid 90's. It's not like Goalies ruled the earth then either,... After the 95 cup run by the Devils you saw the birth of the death of prolific NHL scoring, the Trap and Defensive zone hockey brought an end to that,...not "Super goalies".

the lack of respect wayne gretzky gets on this board, and in the generation of fans who mainly post on this board is disgusting,.... no i'm not going to explain myself, if you actually watched hockey in the 80's you wouldn't need me to have to explain it to you.

it's a shame mcabe wasn't up for that florida game,...with seconds left he could have let go another one of his wicked one-timers,..into his own net. i kid, i kid.

are you freaking kidding me,....I'm on the minority but i wanted a guy we wouldn't have to give up anything to get,....i hope he doesn't come back at all,..loser.

i hope cleary learns from marty lapointe and realizes taking a huge payday may not be the smartest thing in the world.

the balance of power is getting smaller between the CHL and NCAA. At least as far as D men are concerned, this years draft had a very large number of NCAA D men.

1. Pronger 2. Giguere 3. Avery 4. Tucker 5. Nediaweiner

yes but if you look carefully you see as the avs player goes down, he punches hasek in the head. Hence why it was called interference. That call would never get made in the playoffs though, i saw a million times worse in that series vs. the ducks.

i was at that game, it was played in carolina. The entire leafs team played that game like spoiled children. Earlier in the game eric cole challenged several leafs to fight, no one would, it was kinda embarrassing as i was trying to show my brother in law how tough players are..... To the point at hand,..every freaking goal scored was reviewed but the overtime winner and both benches where arguging about blown calls in the game. Finally, the winner is scored and antropov comes over to the ref, starts yapping, then the ref says something to him, so he just slams his stick up against the boards like 3 times high on the glass. He never threw it at the ref.

any person who doesn't think Tootoo wouldn't be one of the most popular wings player since D-mac is smoking some serious homer stuff. Picture this, Pronger elbows Holmstrom, but this time as soon as he turns around Tootoo low bridges him and knocks him out of the playoffs, blood for blood. Dirty, you bet. Not wing material,..right-o Would he be a freaking hero in this town You better freaking believe it.

poor guy, if he was on a team with some talent he could be so much more of a dynamic player.

I think Samuelsson will be gone come deadline time. He's not much of a trade asset, but hey,...geoff sanderson was traded right?

see,..i'm sorry but i hate the way this went down. The ducks played tonite and with Neidawieiner in the lineup again, all the sudden they look like the team that won the cup last year. It makes me sick, where half way through the season, all the big stars are sore and nursing injuries etc. etc. The Captain comes back, rested and at full tilt with a 40 less games on his body than everyone else in the league going into the playoffs. I'm thinking the league needs to address this issue, i.e. there should be a cutoff date that if you don't start playing and are under contract (and obviously not injured) you cannot return to your team that season.

I just watched the carolina/flyers game. I really hate the way the flyers play hockey to be honest with you. They're total goons, everyone of them. Towards the end of the game there's a delayed penatly so Biron goes to touch the puck along the boards. Cole goes dashing after it, but Biron reaches it first. Cole starts to skate away, so Biron just shoves him to the ground. I was,...um? Then as the game goes back and forth Philly scored a goal in the crease that made what the ducks did to us in the playoffs (like when they shoved dom, the puck, and chelly in the net) look like a finesse move. The best part was the Karma though,..during the shootout, carolina is up and Rod Brindamour is the last shooter. Brindy takes a simple wrist shot that biron gets a piece of, the puck goes straight up. The philly faithful go nuts, thinking they're still in it, puck comes back down, hit biron, in the net,...game winner.

huh,..maybe Jason Allison will find a home after all.

okay, i'll say it. Couldn't we have offered anything better than doug weight? We all know we've needed a second line center all year. I havn't checked how much mc gets paid but would it have been worth it to throw someone at them?
-
I posted this in the Crosby thread but i really do want to know. I've never been sure how the three stars work in games, but this one boogles my mind. Pittsburg was playing AT philly. Pens get demolished 2-8 Crosby gets two assists and the third star, over umberger who got a hat trick? errr what? 1st star was lupul who had six points 2nd star was richards who had 3 assists.
-
honestly i don't think so, i can't think of a single season in recent memory where there was a holiday rush to make trades. But maybe i'm wrong and we see a flury,..who knows these days.
-
yup yup,...as a part time carolina fan i'm really praying they trade one of their million plus scoring wingers (seriously,..there depth at every postion but D is sicking) for a decent D man.
-
i'll point out, when i made mine it was the only one, but thanks for the heads up.
-
Sigh, there was a rumor going on that the trade that sent him there was offered to carolina with Eric Cole and Nic Walin going the other way,..it was all set but Nic Walin wouldn't waive his no trade clause,.....if only.

okay, someone explain this to me. The penguins lose 2-8, Crosby has two assists in the terrible preformance by his team. Crosby is the third star of the game. Err what?
