I read somewhere that he was being depended on to take the second line RW spot. I wonder if this will force the oil to sign a veteran farting around looking for work. Like maybe anson carter, or Mike Johnson.
-
well for starters there not the only team to play in alberta.
-
well he's wearing an oilers jersey, so i think he's just goofing off with some friends probably.
-
i'm really really surprised the oilers arn't like "um,...we play in alberta too". This is going to make there yearly battles more fun to watch for sure.
-
i think that's off base, the nhl fanbase is littered with stories of guys going way out of there way for fans. A story about iginla stands out. There where some guys who drove all night to see a flames playoff game, it was a spur of the moment thing and they planned on sleeping in there car. Iggy found out about it and put him up in hotel out of his own pocket. Lets see terrell owens do that.

i don't think babs has a choice this year, He's got to give hudler top min because there's no one else to take his spot. UInless you think Dallas Drake is going to put up huge numbers.
-
that looks awful, the white shoulders completly seperate the jersey's color scheme. As one person pointed out it does kinda resemble a womans tank top.
-
i just wonder how much berard has left in the tank,...i've always cheered for the guy. The heart he's displayed in his career is really awe inspiring. Now it's not just a question of having one eye, he's having alot of back problems too. Go get em bryan and God speed.
-
I guess they were going for retro,..and the succeded, it looks like a 1940's Bruins jersey from how its shaped and styled. Color scheme is God awful.
-
what are we the flying D's?
-
that giant lettering scrolled out in front on there jersey's makes them the absoulte worst of the new jersey's i've seen. Silly pipping and horrible colors don't beat a ridicoulous VANCOUVER across the front.
-
yeah but unfortunatly in today's NHL where protecting the goalie goes to the extreme. (have you seen giggy's pads?) it'll never happen.

I think you're misunderstanding me, but honestly i don't have the patients to explain it to you, i provided a link as to why the rule was instituted it should be common sense, There's a trapazoid there to prevent goalies from playing the puck outside that area. It was a crackdown on puck moving Goaltenders negating a dump in. The only way to negate a trap D is to dump the puck in. Doesn't work if the goalie gets it and fires it to his D. if you don't believe me maybe a mod will come in here and explain it to you. I'm not saying the goalie gets it in the corner with players comming at him but you fail to see that it's pretty much impoosible to pass the puck as a goalie to your D men from behind your net. Brodeur and goaltenders like him changed the game by having Forward like puck handling abilites. They put this rule in to disrupt there ability to control the flow of game and possesion of the other team in there zone by using a dump and chase system.
-
it's not like we'd offer him that much but surly another team could have offered him that for a future 3rd or 4th pairing D man.
-
As a goalie myself you can say whatever you want. I'm not trying to be mean but it's the truth. The rule is ment to prevent a goalie from getting the puck and playing it around the area where the trapazoid is not. A key time Brodeur would do this was during a PP, the other team would dump the puck in, Brodeur would go retrive it, fire it out to his D man,..puck cleared. If you don't believe me, this comes straight from wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martin_Brodeur "During the time in between the lockout and the time the NHL returned, the league instituted a new rule preventing goaltenders from playing the puck behind the net beyond a trapezoid-shaped zone.[29] This was viewed by many as singling out Brodeur, who is known for his puckhandling ability, and has come to be known as the "Brodeur Rule".[30][31]"
-
two words Martin Brodeur. It's designed to keep puck handling goalies like Brodeur and Turco from negating a dumb in by playing it along the boards. In fact when it was discussed back before the lockout ended it was called "the Martin Brodeur rule"

will the NHL ever learn? hes not a great coach, period. He might be okay as an assistant although in all fairness when we has an assistant and was successful, he coached under the greatest coach in NHL history.

i'm there.

wings brawl between the bruins early 90's. Complete bench clearing brawl. Check out Big Bad Vlad beat the snot out of some poor schmuck. Soft Euro my butt.
-
now see mike Johnson can be a guy i see playing here. He's never been accused of being lazy, he plays every shift, but he's not a wonderfully talented Offensive player. That's what we and almost every other team in the NHL needs, a Guy who can score on the wing.
-
that's what i've heard too, but heck robert lang wasn't breaking land speed records in the playoffs.
-
i think that's what holland is doing right now, everyone in the league knows we need; more Grit, a top Four D man, and a top six forward. Dallas Drake is not a top six guy anymore so you've got to think either holland is waiting to see what happenes in training camp, or he's going to go with what we've got and load up at the deadline.
