There's a reason the overwhelming majority of UFC fighters have a mixed martial arts background, because any form that is limited to striking is going to be useless in a submission sense. Couple that with the fact most boxers lead with there legs out, just begging for a well to do striker to repeatedly kick the tar out of it and you have a "Sweet science" that wouldn't last more than a round in a mixed martial arts ring. Some of the worst and one sided officiating I've seen this year in the playoffs. It got so bad that at one point one of the CBC guys commented that Phabitch was obviously interfering with bertuzzi and there was no call. He then laughed about it as if this was something that should happen. Refs pocketing the whistles in a very important game is not cool.

hockey players period are by far the nicest, easiest to approach, humblest people in the sports world. I have heard volumes of stories about players going above and beyond the call of duty for THEIR fans. My favorite involves Eric staal. During the stanley cup playoffs last year one of Raleigh's finest (the cops run security at the RBC) told Eric Staal his son loved him, and that for his birthday, which was today he bought him his jersey. Eric didn't have time to sign anything as it was practice for game 7 against buffalo, so he asked to see the cops cell phone and called his son to wish him a happy Birthday. Almost every hockey star i can think of is very simliar in nature.

Man is this kid impressive or what? He even got a shout out on tsn, something i thought could never happen if you wheren't a north american player.
