berts problems arn't physical. I know he's got a wonkie back and that derails alot of what he can do, but berts best aspects took a nose dive the minute the moore incident happened. IF he can put some of those demons behind i really do feel he could be a very effective player.
-
You just made me spray mountain dew all over the monitor. Great stuff man. I'll also point out that out of the 40 points or so bert had last year, 14 were pp points.

Sportsnet: Hudler awarded 2 year deal 5m total; Still KHL bound
theman19 replied to DatsyukownzU13's topic in General
maybe the bitterness is showing through,..but,... just to point out In sullivans case he has insane speed which allows him to stay ahead of defenders in Verbeeks case he was just nasty and strong enough to back it up in fleury's case he was both hudler is neither fast nor nasty and strong enough to play a NA game beyond the one he already played, the 3rd line/2nd line type /thread -
Check your monitor, no it's not 2006,.. you'll recall we signed this guy after the lockout as well. All i can figure is a Grand rapids signing http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=286005

as the resident hurricanes watcher, guess i'll weigh in on this one. When Carolina aquired him along with corvo, canes fans were excited. He had as everyone said a lot of upside, the problem is that in his time in carolina he didn't exactly stand out. He looked bored out there, maybe he's worth a look but i think he's done personally.
-
it's a misnomer to say he didn't play in the playoffs as well, he played almost every game against philly, two games against washington and would have played two against us but was injured in game seven.
-
I mean i just can't fathom it,.....i don't watch the pens,..never have,..but I remember a lot of the teams skyora was on and i don't remember it being that bad. Playing sound Defensive hockey normaly gets better with age not worse, was he always that bad?
-
i'm not sold on the way petr sykora got wrote off as being defensivly a wash. I know it's not his strong suit but i think it's got something to do with the coach there,.....you don't go from being an important cog in 08 to not important at all in 09 skill drop off is large, but i've never seen a player who's not a goalie have it that bad. He's perfect i think, if he's willing to take a huge paycut he'd be exactly what the wings need to replace hudler, and honestly,....would he be any worse than hudler defensivly?
-
I can't imaigne why he'd come here, but petr sykora seems like a guy who could replace more than a bit of the goals we've had depart here latley. I'm kinda lost on why he was a healthy scratch during the playoffs, he's clutch as everything. I think with him it's that he doesn't play D,..like at all,...but if paired with the right people I don't think it'd be a huge deal.
-
he's exactly the type of player i expect we need. But i'm not ken holland and from what holland has said in the media, he's not the type of player on our radar. We're looking at a third line grinder (like a mike grier, but not mike grier, follow?) If no one signs him he's KHL bait, or possibly a training camp tryout.
-
I gotta say, I find all this a bit strange. I know we don't have any cap to speak of, and there are plenty of effective gems hidden in the best of the rest, it's just weird,.... Every news source i look at, all the blogs,..all the reports not a single one is about the wings looking at a freaking soul I can't even find an update on the hudler/sammy situation. My take on this, is it's classic Holland. He's biding his time, getting all his wings in a row. We as a team will get universally panned as "falling behind, with the departure of stars" Then, it'll happen, like it's happened since 2002,..we'll pluck guys from freaking no where, who will then go on to be very productive red wings. I think there will be a training camp invite who explodes ala cleary I also think a FA will be more productive than he ever has been when he's signed to a general "huh?!?!?" from our fan base. Holland is like Warren Wallace,..he's in the back,....waiting,...ready to STRIKE. I'm so curious to see what this guy does.
-
I dont' know, sounds like a perfect holland project except he's exactly the type of guy we all love around here,....Big, Strong on the puck, Hits, Fights and has flashes of offensive brillance. Guess we'll see.

no where in particular. After the lockout he was LGW offical object of lust, then his career came off the rails. He was last seen as a waiver wire pickup from the rags. He's a ufa and his career is basically over unless he lands somewhere that can revitalise it. Long story short, he made a bad choice in driving drunk and it's altered his career forever.
-
he won't be had for less than two million. I watch a lot of canes hockey ( i live in raliegh) and Larose is Draper the younger, minus the elite two way play (larose is just above average) and with the same hands of stone. Larose would get like two or three breakaways a game last year and score maybe half the time.
-
we can't afford most of who i'd want to sign but I'm a big fan of moen. Most of these guys don't fit red wings hockey,.....I watch the canes alot and chad larose is a good player but he's basically a younger draper,..complete with no hands at all. Seriously he gets like three breakaway's a game.
-
i'm a boogard fan myself, but that's a silly thing to say. Problem with Laraque is that no one will fight him really.
-
oh man,....cole is one of my all time favorite non wings,...i'd immediatly go buy a cole jersey if we signed him.
-
we're not going to, so that right there ends the thread. But,.....Kovalev isn't nearly the waste of space you all think he is. When he wants to be he's one of the best players in the world. His talent has not dropped off, it's his desire, the team that puts him in a capacity as something other than "super star" will get max from him. Look what happened to Lang last year,...

' Ryan Miller, taken 5th round.
-
Joel Ward would be massive, but i wonder if he's a flash in the pan. The few games i saw him play in he reminded me a lot of dan cleary with more grit,...that's never a bad thing. Preds seem pretty intent on keeping him however.

Holland waiting for 09-10 cap (update on contract offers)

good news,.....and i guess i'm in the minority, i want to see what howards Got. -
http://www.spectorshockey.net/index.php?op...rs&Itemid=4 the obvious run of the mill hossa chelios stuff,...but there is a tid bit that says sammy may have rejected a contract by the wings. Is it possible we lose everyone but hudler?
-
http://www.detnews.com/article/20090622/SP...n-Chris-Chelios confirmed, Thanks for the memories Chelly.

a lot of people tie in the fact that kopo and hossa are best friends. They also throw a lot of crap about how kopo does what he does for dirt cheap,....my personal thoughts,......no hossa bye bye kopo.

to me it sounds like Sammy is chasing the dollar. He's been the guy who's "a good deal" now he might want market value. For years on this site he's been "the best option at his price" What if he price is a million more than what he makes now? Is he still the best option wings fans?
