Which player in the NHL would wanna play for detroit the most?
Hockeytown0001 replied to a topic in General
I thought Drury was from the New England area and went to Boston College -
Is this the team you want to see go into the playoffs?
Hockeytown0001 replied to shoe's topic in General
It's the same team that won the Cup last year, as someone said minus Hasek and Drake and plus Conklin and Hossa. Not too bad of a tradeoff. But the defense needs to get it together, and the goaltending needs to put a streak together to regain confidence. -
Agreed. I tend not to cheer for teams who's majority of fans are complete dbags.

Conks is gonna do well tonight, he'll be wanting to after his last outing, and already has 1 win against the Hawks so far this season -
When will professional atheletes begin to feel the economic pinch....

Actually Washington. And that last point is right on - what's the difference between making 6 and 7 million per year on a 4-5 year deal? It's not like you'd be able to spend it all anyways. Is there any way that Hossa could have spent $81 million over 9 years had he signed with the Oilers? -

Suppose the Magic 8-Ball shockingly is wrong; what's next? -
Just to build on that, I'd suggest wearing a Team Canada jersey with Sakic on the back rather than anything bearing the Avs logo on it. He was and remains the only respectable thing about that team, very much like Stevie Y. No reason to not like him other than the fact that he played some of his best hockey against the Wings. Back then, it was easy to dislike players like Roy and Lemiuex not only for their play on the ice, but because they were a-holes off the ice too. You can't say that about Sakic.

I wonder if they personally think they'll ever have to, with their million dollar salaries, endorsement deals and what not. Which is why I think we're all hoping that Z will remember where he came from and take a discount to stay here, remembering that he's still making tons more money per year than 99.9% of those who watch him play make. So many times have I thought of starting a thread just to rant on the selfishness of players demanding 6, 7, and 8 million per year (even if they "deserve" it like Crosby, Ovechkin, ect) who complain that even that isn't enough when their fans are struggling to pay for basic cable so they can watch their games on tv, let alone shell out hundreds to see the game in person. -

Just got back from the game, good to get the win. Hossa was unbeliveable out there tonight, and there's nothing like seeing Jiri Hudler score 2 goals in person!

I suppose that's a route that John McCain could have taken, "Vote for the guy who's name sounds American!"

The last game I was at was in March against Chicago and they handed out the "How Swede it is" posters with all the Swedish Wings on it, got it signed by Mo Cheese

For anyone else going to the game, don't forget it's also Igor Larionov night!

Update from Tuesday's practice: Wings coach Mike Babcock nixed Tomas Holmstrom's plans of returning to the lineup Thursday against Vancouver. "He's not playing Thursday,'' Babcock said. "Piet (trainer Van Zant) hasn't told me that he's even on the horizon. Anytime it's a back -- I have a bad back every day of my life, so I know about it -- we got to be real careful and intelligent how we handle it.'' This will come as news to Holmstrom, who minutes before, said: "Thursday for sure, unless I have a setback. If it feels really good tomorrow, why not? No reason not to go.'' Holmstrom has missed seven games with back spasms. Babcock said he didn't know when he would return to the lineup. http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/20...ot_playing.html

Knew that was coming haha; I had one of Hank scoring on Luongo in a shootout but it wouldn't load. Kinda disappointed cuz I'll be there and wanted to see Luongo for the 1st time.
-
Curtis Sanford, who had been starting in place of injured Bobby Luongo for Vancouver, left the Columbus game with back spasms, leaving rookie Cory Schneider to finish the game. Because we all know about back spasms (Hank and Homer), this could mean that Sanford might miss some time. This means that the Canucks goaltending comes down to Schneider and Karl Goehring until Luongo returns, which would put the Manitoba Moose in a tight situation. I wouldn't want to be the Canucks right now.
-
Haha wow, Giguere (dehydration) and Kari Lehtonen (back) are also out
-
You can add Cam Ward to that list too
-
It looks like Cory Schneider could get the start tomorrow. http://blog.mlive.com/snapshots/2008/12/sc..._wednesday.html

I had the same problem; all I saw was "Lindstrom traded" and despite the spelling difference, I think my heart stopped for a second there.
