Excellent article. Darren has always been one of my favorite Wings. When i was 6 and 7, I started to love the Beatles, and D-Mac was my favorite Red Wing because his name sounded like Paul McCartney. And when he reached over the glass and handed me a puck during warmups of my first Red Wings game back in St. Louis in 1999, his place as one of my all time favorites was cemented. -
As D-Mac said on the championship DVD, the guy has hall of fame credentials.

Didn't see this coming, I thought that he wanted nothing to do with the organization again. Not due to the nine goal emarassment against the Wings back in the day, but because of the building tensions between him and the coaching staff, among other factors.

It's hard to not want to play for a first rate Original 6 organization with a culture and expectation of winning, loyal fan base, incredible coaching and ownership, world class players, a legitimate shot at the Stanley Cup each year, and the best zamboni driver there is. -
I would have thought Luongo would have cracked the top 10 on that list. Lids and Hank should definately be top 15 at the least, and answer this question - what player would you rather have? Anze Kopitar or Rick Nash? The latter replaces the former at no. 13 if it's my list, despite Kopitar being a center and Nash a winger. And Backstrom ahead of Kipper? Again, who would you rather have?

The entire Red Wings team. My earliest memory of the Wings is sneaking downstairs as a 7 year old on a June night in 1997, wondering what my dad was yelling happily about...it was the Cup victory. Ever since then, I've been hooked on hockey.

Here's an even better topic - Would you rather have had Pittsburgh not score, the Wings to run out the clock and win the Cup in game 5 in regulation? Or would you rather have had things play out the way they did with the Pens tying it in the final minute, only to have the Wings win in overtime? I think it would have been pretty awesome to see the Wings win the Cup on an overtime winner at the Joe.

Some other funny posts include "We actually have more talent than Detroit does" and such posts like "I HOPE WE PLAY DETROIT IN THE SCF NEXT YEAR AND DESTROY THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Gotta love "fans" who have followed the Pens all of two years. In other news, Jesus Himself came down from heaven today to personally wish his son Sidney Crosby a happy 21st birthday.

If the Stars had Avery in that series, the outcome would have been different in the sense that the Wings would have had more powerplay opportunities because of Avery, and probably end the series quicker.

I guess he forgot to mention the entire WNBA, as well as the Nashville Predators, Columbus Blue Jackets, Tampa Bay Lightning....and, tell whoever wrote the article that I hear that the Motor City's local hockey team is pretty good; last I heard, weren't the Pistons the ones with the "everyone for sale" sign out front?

Right now just can't wait for the season to begin. Something I'm looking forward to is who emerges as the backup to Ozzie, whether it be Conklin or Howard. Also looking forward to Flip's development into the 2nd line center that we know he has the potential to be.
