Great to hear that Don Cherry hates how Al can't do it anymore. He was making fun of it on CBC saying the league forbid Al from doing it because the octopus juice "might get in someones eyes." Gotta love Don Cherry!!

The pope being in town basically would be second only to Jesus Himself, so I get why its a big deal to Catholics. Being Lutheran, I guess it'd be the same if Martin Luther came to town. I think maybe I'd skip one day of hockey, even if it was the playoffs, to go see that happen. But that's just me. Who knows, maybe the nhl would ban the pope from hockey games if he took the octopus and twirled it around...or better yet, replaced the white hat with the octopus itself!
