Pens PA announcer John Barbero passes away

This, which is why the thread was created. -
I've never liked the Penguins, but I always thought he was a pretty cool announcer. RIP.

Pens PA announcer John Barbero passes away

I remember an old interview with Budd Lynch, where he explains his style is simply relaying information to the crowd and that he isn't paid to be a cheerleader. Those kinds of classy announcers are a thing of the past in today's sports world. John Barbero would be enthusiastic while announcing goals, "Thaa Pittsburgh goal..." but he wasn't a ****** about it. -
Anyone else try Michigan's own Wolverine beer? I wasn't too thrilled by it.

Pens PA announcer John Barbero passes away

I think he was able to do it with dignity, however. Listen to him and then compare him to the Capitals PA announcer, who is basically just trying to shout as loud and as undecipherable as possible. -
And he's the type of guy who goes out of his way to stick up for teammates. Anyone else remember his "justice" comment from a few years back? That was great.

It's true. It's not like there is a shortage of healthy food around here. You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink. -
This is such a non-thing. It should have been 2 posts: 1. Did you guys see what Talbot said? 2. Yeah. who cares. It's Talbot. Since when is it cool for 3rd/4th line scrubs to be calling out players 10x better than them? I'm looking at you, Adam Burish.

The US isn't exactly known for healthy food, which is why so many Americans are overweight. The food here is just too damn good. I pride myself in being fit, but even those with the most willpower can't resist "bad" food at times. That being said, I'm not sure what that post had to do with health-code violations at sports arenas. -
I would have loved to have seen a Dallas-Minnesota WC at TCF Bank Stadium (Golden Gophers), or a Devils-Rangers WC at Giants Stadium. Not fracking Pittsburgh again.

Is it too soon to worry about another NHL lockout?

That will be one sad day when a frozen hellhole like the KHL is considered a better league than the NHL. -
Good post.

Not necessarily fans, but interested in the state of the team since one of the two all time greatest Red Wings is now their general manager. Naturally, we want him to succeed and take an interest in his ventures.

It sure will be one sad day when Budd passes. The NHL has too many "cheerleader" announcers these days. Washington's PA announcer is just ridiculous, screaming into the microphone. -
Just don't tell her I've gone crazy....
