I was also at the New Years Eve game, and as usual it was a great experience. There were familes on both sides of me that were talking about the stats of each Red Wings player along with the Avs, and talking hockey in general while watching the game. The crowd at the Joe, for the most part, is amongs the more hockey savvvy crowds that there is, as compared to crowds in Los Angeles who spend their time texting during the game. (There's people everywhere who do that, but not as widespread in some places.) Also, the cheer on Darren Helm's empty netter was one of the loudest I've heard, and I've been to nearly 50 games at the Joe including playoffs. The playoffs at the Joe are absolutely unreal in terms of intensity. But regular season games are just as exciting IMO. Maybe I'm just biased because I love the Joe.

Difference between a hockey player and a basketball player: A basketball player is nudged by an opponent and proceeds to fall over, seemingly on purpose, as if he were just shot with a bazooka. He is then announced to be missing the next 2 months nursing a sore ankle. A hockey player takes a 100 mph slap shot to the nose, instantly felling him and goes to the dressing room for repairs. He returns to action the next period.

Saints. See the "Person Below me" game for my opinion on Favre. Which would be better: Kane, Toews, and Hossa all suffering season ending injuries or seeing them lose a heartbreaking, 7th game overtime loss?

God forbid that the good news continues for the Wings.

Z and Dats must step up in games like this. Unbelievably frustrating that they did next to nothing in this game.

Perhaps Leino puts Ovechkin to shame and Lebda is the new Lidstrom.

Another thing, Lidstrom didn't win the Norris until he was 30. Players definately don't start to go downhill at that age.
