Well Preds fan, no disrespect. It seems that some people think the point of this thread was to trash Pred fans. I honestly wanted to know why they do it. I did go to the Nashville boards last night and ask and someone told me it began because they started out as bottom feeders and the idea just stuck.

I'd be happy if they could just get our players names right. I think they do it on purpose as some kind of slap in the face, but don't realize it just makes them seem like a bunch of stupid hillbillies.

That was the funniest part.

I love to watch Datsyuk stick handle. I love to watch Lebda gain speed in the neutral zone and overtake his opponent. I love to watching Franzen battle for the puck and somehow after he frees the puck, he's magically on the other side of the ice to pick up the loose puck. How does he do that? I love that Draper seems to get more than his share of breakaways (more need to go in the back of the net) I love the way Lidstrom can hold in pucks at the blue line, even blasts that should break his stick. I love that having Calder in the line-up seems to have awakened the sleeping Lang. I love that so many announcers refer to Holmstrom as the Giant Red Wood hovering at the edge of the crease. I love the energy the Grand Rapids kids bring to the team. I love everything Zetterberg does.

I know everyone is saying our position in the conference comes down to the last 4 games against Nashville. Honestly, I think tonight's game will be the determining factor. I know we have a lot of guys out, but I think after the ugly loss to the Avs, our guys need to fight through and pull out a win tonight.

I'm not pro-Moore, don't like the guy any more than I like Bertuzzi. However, I don't believe the punishment fit the act. All I hear is people trying to defend what he did because he was on the ice when he did it. If he were in a bar brawl he'd have to pay and why should the consequences be any different because he did it on the ice. I do agree, though that the issue has been settle as far as the NHL is concerned and since there is nothing to be done about it, there really is no point in constantly rehashing the same argument.

Thank you. I live about an hour from St. Louis and saw all four games when they played the Wings. During one game I was talking to 4 Blues fans in front of me. They were asking questions about different Wings players, making comments about how talented Zetterberg is. I didn't know them, but we had a lot of fun enjoying the game as hockey fans. I work with many Blues fans and we give each other a hard time, but in a friendly way. Anyone who feels the need to do so much trash talking and be so nasty is just looking for attention and should be ignored.

Well, I'd like to point out a few things too. First of all, you aren't the only one entitled to an opinion on Bertuzzi's past. Yes, we want someone who will stick up for his teamates, but not someone who will injure with malice ending another's career. Oh, and yes, I've heard the arguement, it was only Steve Moore, he wasn't much of a hockey player anyway. So, does that mean it is ok for Bertuzzi to decide when his career ends? No, league should have been able to decide his value. The funniest part about all of this is that because Bertuzzi did it to an average player, playing for one of our rivals, the incident is of no consequence. I'm sure attitudes about picking up Bertuzzi would be completely different if he had done that to a Wing, say Yzerman or Zetterberg. I really have nothing else to say about the Bertuzzi incident. If management decides to pick him up I will support this team as always. If they do pick him up I hope he turns out to be exactly what this team needs and not another disappointing trade. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Bertuzzi would be a deterrent to other players taking cheap shots at our stars, but he won't be their shadow constantly. Just having him does not mean neither Zetterberg or Datsyuk get injured. Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't he usually retalliate for a hit on a teammate. Retalliation means the damage has already been done. How is having Bertuzzi going to prevent injuries.

Am I on the right boards? Wasn't it just a few weeks ago people here were complaining that Babcock should give Hudler more ice time. Now so many people are willing to just toss him aside for a rental player that may not even be able to play. What if we did get him just to defend Datsyuk and Zetterberg and he reinjures his back on his first night out. How is that going to help us?

[P.S. Anyone who thinks Holland should have outbid that package is nuts. I agree 100%. I think the move shows some real desperation on the part of the Preds. I think they believe any sacrifice to improve their odds of winning the cup this year was worth whatever future hardships it may cause, because they believe bringing home the cup will somehow turn Nashville into a hockey town.
-
I just want to know why they waited until it's getting closer to the start of the new season if he's been having this problem for the past year and a half. I mean it's obviously better to deal with it now than as we near the playoffs in 2007, but during the off-season would have been even better and with our early playoff exit, there's been a significant amount of "off-season".
-
I'm with you 100%. First of all, I think the loss last night is being blown way out of proportion. I admit the Preds are probably the battle we will need to win come playoff time if we want a chance at the cup, but if it weren't for the goal that was rolled over from Nov 21st, the game would have gone into overtime and possibly to a shootout. Besides, last night was only the 2nd of 8 meetings between the two teams and we are 1/1 against them up to this point. I think the Wings will come out tonight and show why they are at the top of the Western conference and then the fans who are so angry today, bashing everyone from the coach to the goalie will quiet down until the next loss. I hate to see the Wings lose too, but I was much more upset about the 6-3 loss to Dallas than last nights game.

The CUP is the point of the season, but I'll be happy as long as the Wings make it to the playoffs and finish the season better than the Avs.

Unless the Avs wake up, they won't even make the playoffs.
