i could go along with this. the way those two have been playing i'd hate to see them sit out. but if sammy is out we won't have anyone to flip pucks into kipper's chest.

nice hustle, flip

"This isn't some softie-toffee Detroit club"

good read. i hope the wings come out flying tomorrow and keep the flames against the ropes. -
i think i read on wikipedia that schumacher was making $250 million just from endorsements. i think its absurd to suggest that nascar pays more than anyone else. countries other than the U.S. have money too.

thats cool that holland actually took the time to talk to him. i would've ignored the call. if a guy's been a fan for thirty years i don't think you can call him a bandwagon fan. and what kind of bandwagon was there in '77 anyways?

What is FTA and how do i get it?

Report: Barry Smith accepts Russian coaching position
HomeNugget replied to Anomalously's topic in General
maybe after a season or two over there he'll finally get to be head coach of an NHL team. i'd be all for picking him up if for some reason babcock doesn't work out. -
Lang is THE BEST playoff performer on the wings right now. his problem is the games don't count yet.
-
i just got off the phone with charter. if you call them you can make some kind of formal protest. i think thats what he called it. a protest memo. i urge everyone to do this. i also tried talking to a rep online. don't waste your time. i talked to someone called "belinda." she wasn't helpful and she's not good at english.

those fights weren't that cool.

win or lose, Lamoriello is an idiot.

yes i can. it was delvecchio's team. the same as it was stevie's team in the 80's and 90's. its a completely hypothetical situation, but i think if Steve had been a rookie at the time Alex was playing and got the captaincy from him, it would be the same as if Hank got Steve's C before Steve retired. it would be a completely classless move by the orginization.
-
i did a little web based research and found out that the Indy Caps were a minor league affiliate of the wings. i think we can agree that it wouldn't be fair to hold Delvecchio's time with this team against him. http://pages.prodigy.net/oldchl/indycaps.htm scroll to about the middle. its under general information. you don't know that Delvecchio wasn't as great a leader though. if Stevie was on the same team as Ted Lindsay or Red Kelly he wouldn't have been captain. if Stevie's career overlapped Delvecchio's he wouldn't have gotten the C until Alex retired.
-
you can't hold that against Alex. Delvecchio didn't have to be the captain that early in his career because the team was loaded.
-
i don't think they were serious. relax.
-
so? why can't they be in the same class? 23 seasons and 12 as captain can't be in the same class as Steve? why?
-
didn't stevie recieve selke votes before scotty was here? i'm not really old enough to remember too many things pre-scotty, but i've always read that stevie was underrated defensively early in his career.
-
well if that's the case take down stevie's as well because he used to play for the petes. i believe Delvecchio is in the same class. i actually think its more fair to say that Yzerman is in the same class as Delvecchio, not the other way around. Delvecchio came first so Delvecchio should be at the head of the class.

so its a no on Finnigan because he played for a different senators franchise and tough for Broten and Goldsworthy because they played for the same stars franchise? or is it a no on Finnigan because he means something in ottawa and tough for Broten and Goldsworthy because they don't mean much in dallas? i think all three should be honored. i don't think teams should abandon their history when they change cities. (unless we're talking about the baltimore ravens) and i also think the senators retiring Finnegan's number is good because it establishes a little history and get people interested in the past. too often people forget about what went before. except delvecchio.
-
nobody agrees with you. retiring his number league wide was a mistake. you can't force teams to honor a player who didn't play for them. edit: spelling

why were Espositos' 8 years and two cups not as important as Roy's? edit: and bobby orr only had 9 years and two cups. sure he had 8 norris trophies, but phil had 5 art ross trophies with the bruins. you can't tell me that's not impressive. he also set a single season scoring record.

i always wonder about this myself. lang is one of our best playoff performers but no one likes how he plays in the regular season. its the opposite for datsyuk. after our run last year everyone was bitching about datsyuk. but now, based on how well datsyuk's regular season has been, everyone is ready to resign him, and they want to get the money for it by letting one of our best playoff guys walk. i can't figure these people out.

i almost made a serious reply to this thread. best april fools thread i've seen so far.

three cups in six years is not a dynasty. three cups in three years maybe, but not three in six.
