The scoring in shootout should reflect on everybody record! final score , goalie stats, shooters...everywhere! my opinion...no shootout! 4-4 5min. 3-3 4min. 2-2 3 min. 1/2 court touch up 1-1 2 min. 1/2 court touch up then...and only then, shootout! adds about 10 minutes to a game overall time. strategic matchups, skill, endurance, excitement! the 2-way player shines!

thats not exactly what i was referring to. if we are in the fray every year...their is one less team with fans going to playoff games and buying jerseys, therefore not generating a buzz in their market. a perfect world for the NHL would be different teams every year going to the playoffs. "if you cheer loud enough, your team could win" theory

na...we dont need him

we need a player with a chip on his shoulder, and a infectious desire to win. torres? if the wings can get confidence ...the scoring will go up. right now the stars "dats/zetta" are carrying too much focus. we used to be a spread out scoring threat...for months now we have been a one line unit with thrown together lines that try...but make chemistry mistakes. once the wounded return and gel together, lines become solidified...the confidence will rise, the chemistry will work, the late game let downs "should" go away. and we can breath during a 2 goal lead. i am wishing for the healthy offense as soon as possible, for sure.

superstars gettin a "MULLIGAN" in the playoffs...you know who linesman lettin 6 forwards play....you know who holmstrom being a target for the refs no one else getting called in our net..... blind "no goal" calls..... blind "goal" calls..... the government pulls the "wool" over our eyes...and so does the NHL face it...the wings being perennial top 3 team is not good for the NHL financially. that! angers me.

there is always one in the crowd.

yeah....that's funny. in a sad way. the simplest explanation about football's domination over all the other sports is that IT IS designed for a casual fan. 12 seconds of action....followed by 45 seconds of replay/analysis explanation of every guys move and the end result. then do it again. casual fans don't have to stay focused. they wont miss much. they can freely get snacks, talk, hit the bathroom, all in between plays. the hardcore fans follow the discussions, analysis, etc....in between plays....but you can still be mobile during this "down time" and the other reasons football will continue to dominate...short season, 1 game per week, big fat guys can do it, "so that means i can do it too" and lets go to the backyard and "re-enact the game" and my personal favorite reason.....we Americans have been programmed to celebrate mediocrity....hence...the personal celebrating for something mildly successful. p.s. i am a born and raised Michigan- American, and i worshiped football until i was 17 and played quarterback/receiver for 5 years in middle/high school. this was all before the tumor was removed and i accepted hockey as my savior.

when you remove the big body goal scorer....the hammering defenseman....the shootout specialist.....the net presence goal scorer.....the freight train defenseman..... teams like playing us. you can focus on shutting down 3 guys instead of 6. you can pass through the open ice at will if there is no fear of getting "havlat-ed" your goalie doesn't have to stop pucks from behind a deftly moving wall. you can cycle down low without getting flattened. you can win a game with 3 goals....and take 45 perimeter shots. face it....the team chemistry is screwed right now. new faces that are introduced to the team...am i on the first line this game, or 2nd? this year the turnover has been crazy. 5 players removed permanently...then injuries to 10? thats a rotation of 15 people in 8 months. whats chemistry? the olympics deal with this problem...but the difference is that every team has to create chemistry in the same time frame. i believe we will make it to the playoffs...6,7,8th. (as long as we get healthier than now) we fans like to make suggestions to this site to vent our frustrations...but it doesn't do a whole lotta good in the big picture.we have to accept that the owners, coaches, scouts, players, do the best that they can for the good of the team. i watch EVERY game with the mindset that this team is the one for me...for good, and bad. i like the wings for the honor, sacrifice, love, respect, and desire to compete. but we all have to accept defeat sometimes. no one wins, every year. its all about coming back to the top. that is something that the wings continually do. rise again. this year we were warned by a crazy old guy that we would have to claw our way in to the playoffs....and that is what we will do. but "if" we lose, don't make it in, get smoked in the first round, or win it all...this we be my team next year as well. until we start employing claude lemieux, patty roy, theo fluery, pronger types (then of course...i'm out) the past 3 games were the result of lack of finishing scoring chances....some soft goals....and a determined team on the other side of the ice. thats all. could have gone the other way... all 3 teams that beat the wings this week....knew they got lucky, and still fear the winged wheel.

when did we get actual footage? i'm guessing that pittsburgh's video tape people withheld that video too. classic. funny.

i believe we will go after some "clutch" type of scorer....not a big numbers guy. matt cullen (plays all slots on offense with tenacity) petr sykora (we all know about his clutch) big scorers come with big price tags and trade assets i actually believe that holland may just let us fall a little to rise again. in the big picture...i think we will be in the playoffs (6-8th spot) if we falter...its because we dont want to throw away the next 5 years on one bad season detroit doesnt rebuild....they re-load. cup prediction....chicago vs. washington caps in 7 we go 7 with sharks and ruin their chances with chicago.

DREAM SEQUENCE! Dallas Drake comes out of retirement and exclaims,"if niederwhiner can do it...so can i" arrives at his first practice and precedes to knocks leino into parking lot. tells management to lock doors and turns to Babcock and says..."pay me what that punk gets and i am all in" city of Detroit holds parade to celebrate which generating tons of money from media frenzy. there.....done. happy?
