Signed Wings sign Tomas Nosek to 2 year entry level deal
luvmnger replied to Dabura's topic in General
planning parade right...now. seriously though...sounds great to me. if the scouts like him....and he comes with a simple contract, then whats to ***** about.think of them as draft picks if that helps you sleep better. nosek-sekac-jurco....sounds like a made up line in EA NHL 2002. -
Am I the only one that winces when seeing another "Edler to Red Wi

for some reason...i shy away from canuck players. the mantra there is...fuzzy. especially kesler. does the joe have a diving board? look kinda funny hanging off the mezzanine. no to all canucks. yes...even bieksa. -
thanks kr...i hear ya..everyone has their own take on things, its why we are all here.

i agree...parody make things better...but the draft idea i have in my head is #17 to #30 then #16 to #1 the playoff teams dont change seeding for draft. this rewards trying to get in with a potential over the top player and a kick back for no revenue for postseason action. no team would ever tank to get #1 last week of the year (unless someone would tank the last playoff spot)...and the bottom feeders would have to be smarter with their draft choices. (see zett-dats-nyquist etc.) wings have done pretty good without #1-10 they can too. if buffalo plays florida last game of year for last place...the difference is one pick earlier if you win. 8th-9th choice this year washington would have first overall...phoenix then nashville. i personally think this would be revolutionary in sports.

being a GM is a hard life of decisions. staying competitive is the primary goal. improving each year over the last. the decisions to "go for it" can cause long term consequences that can set a team back for many years if chosen poorly. ask the sharks about signing joe. some would consider him to be the " guy that changes everything" its all about percentages/chemistry/role play. a team of all-stars can win...but can they win it all? larry murphy was considered a wash out in toronto...hated by the fans...fills role in detroit and wins. point is....boyle can be a cog in the machine..."not the one", but a decisive role player. until nyquist/tatar arrived, the redwings have been a team with a few stars...and a pack of mid-level guys. they need to shed a few middling players and upgrade slightly on each position. is almquist/sproul/marchenko/ouellet better than kindl? is boyle/niskanen/markov better than lashoff? once you determine this to be true...you then weigh the variables. cost, trade, chemistry of position in system. would niskanen be a positive ( for the money) in a young team, being the go-to guy to bring outlet passes, run the 2nd powerplay? or would markov suit that position better? of course we can sit back and say yea...niskanen all day....but would that be worth it? younger guys would have to wait, be traded, or leave the wings for euro. i have decided to back away from stressing about moves the GM makes...the GM is doing what he can with what he can. i wanted OEL 5 years ago...i wish eaves wouldnt have been traded....i wanted burmistrov on a wing with pav...i wished we kept brunner.....i think almquist could be a great offensive guy....blah blah blah. it doesnt matter what i do, say, or wish. our gm will do what he thinks can work. we have to trust ken in his decisions just like we trust pavel with the puck. we have a great GM running the wings...he may be controvercial with some decisions ( see: cleary) but we dont know the locker room/office/payroll/personalitys, like he does. all i know is...we have never tanked a season to get the #1 draft pick. there is honor in life and being a wings fan, i hold that one in my pocket. ( im looking at you chicago/pittsburgh) thats my idea of a team buying the cup. (personally i think the first team out of playoffs gets #1 pick.= no more tanked seasons) EVER. finally...my overall opinion is that, dont trade the kids unless its almost a sure thing, boyle might be ok, niskanen might be great, kesler is a cancer, stasny would be epic. monster is good by me, ciao sammy, gonna miss you bert, cleary who?, quincey/kindl...well...you coulda shoulda woulda. and last but not least... prepare for mantha!

have datsyuk tell burmistrov he can play on his wing if he comes back in a duffel bag... ala sergei style. change his last name to brown...witness relocation plan. ta da! sniper!

you can give up on tootoo, emmerton, cleary bertuzzi, hell...even kindl...but dont give up on weiss yet. that guy went through the wringer in the last year and a half. lockout.....wrist injury....missed rest of season. signed on to new team with new style from being focal point to second fiddle. (different linemates every other game) groin injury slowed him down, always feared making mistakes (and slowed groin) kept him from being who he was. then injury took him out...again. he was never an "alfredsson type" so that comparison isnt fair. (not a "carry the team-leader" kinda guy) chemistry and team style are huge in this league for player performance. he may never work out here....but he needs a good stretch of (healthy) time with the team before we all give up. the red wings have a lot of players that "could" out perform somewhere else...or completely flop. (see...leino) flop-success-flop back in the 80's players played their strengths...scorers...scored. not much back checking. but as skills elevated across the board, players are now forced to play all-around 2-way games. limiting the gifted ones to lower numbers and the game suffers. ask yzerman. yes, he became one of the greatest leaders of all time...but his numbers went south when he played the 2-way game. weiss has been asked to play the "wings way" and that may not be the style that elevates him in our graces. we may be forcing stamkos to play like maltby. just my 2 cents. so...go on...hit me with yours.

im thinkin....roldgold pretzels....or scoop fritos. throw in some dip....and its a done deal.
-
especially if the rest of the season goes south. wings first pick could be a low double digit. (or better) i do like kulikov, matthias,fleishmann....but defence is the priority. kulikov + nick schultz would be great! emmerton/ferraro to edm....kindl + 3rd. to florida
-
what about volchenkov? wasnt there rumblings he was on the block? {kindl}, (emmerton), (tootoo),*sammy*,(andersson),{glendening},{lashoff},(quincey),*cleary* cap, schmap. make it happen kenny! every trade has {one positive}, (one question), and *one negative*, so lets give them options!

true true...... and if only uwe krupp was still here!
-
i loved raffi while he was with us....but lets wait and see what happens. odds are he wont even knock on the wings door. but, you never know. kudos to you raffi! love the game till the end.

Nail Yakupov, as told to Igor Larionov...or not.

hahahaha....you spend way too much time in bab's head, my friend. sad...but true right there. -
he moves only if he asks for it. wings wont do that after the relocation adventure. i could see others moving though.

i personally think getzlaf tried to embellish the hit and caught his toe in a rut. quincy looked like he gave a "bounce off" push to him, getz went for the duck (no pun) and added on to the impact. once he realized (split second) he was going in awkward...it was too late. face....meet wall. but thats just me. look at quincey's reaction....he couldnt believe that getz went down so....funny.
-
you have to wonder...where is the " clean up the hits to the head" section of the rule book. im thinking it is hanging out with the zapruder film. that is a blatant disregard of the statement the NHL is making.
-
i like cleary....but his days with us are done. shanny moved on...cheli moved on...holmstrom retired. they all saw the writing on the wall and know its business. not personal. when you sign a guy for the "personal" in mind....you have lost touch with the business.
-
bringing back cleary was definately the missing cog to the wings top gears!
-
never...had...a...doubt! nyquil is back!
-
giggady!
-
the brunner move looked pretty effective....fake wide then jam it home short side....the force and momentum takes it unless goalie locks his skate in the pipe. also the flipper shot....get the goalie sprawling and go over his head/leg etc. pav is also good at popping the puck up...go for the bunt hit five hole. the same move is getting shut down by pav's own head. shot wide....shot wide...shot wide....
-
man that guy cant catch a break. i have high hopes for him and have no doubt he will become a "great buy" once he finds his mojo. i hope this injury is minor and he can get back at it.

chelios is the t-1000....dude....i dont like your chances.
