Haha. Wow. It ain't like they're playing better than us either.
-
How many friggin shots is Montreal going to.block , we can't get a shot on the PP.
-
Ugh, bad break.
-
"Here's the big line, Deharnais, Pachorietty, and Cole" Haha, that would be our third line.
-
"Jonathan Ericsson playing the role of Nick Lidstrom tonight" - Pierre....ugh.

Its plays like this that are probably going to lead to huge problems with suspensions in the future. If you can get suspended for that play, where your point of contact almost certainly didn't cause the play, what happens next time when your a repeat offender? Zetterberg the repeat offender? All it takes in the fast game today is someone to lose their footing or turn their back to you at just the right time and suddenly our stars (the ones who aren't out with concussions mind you) are benched. The real interesting time will be the playoffs, because if they keep this up I wouldn't be surprised if opposing players (Ott, Cooke, The Vancouver Canucks) start to get themselves in these situations, essentially diving for suspensions. Not to mention the double standard/inconsistent calling of them that we will almost certainly see. This is a really crazy and pivotal time in the history of the game, the speed, concussions, and how we deal with them is starting to really threaten the future.

I would imagine it was the attendance in Pheonix. You know since the NHL owns the Coyotes.

My realistic attempt... Howe. Larionov. Hull Verbeek. Lindsay. Ogrodnick. Redmond. Brown. Ciccerreli Klima. Burr. Kocur Murphy. Ward Fischer. Duschene Dandenault. M.Howe Vernon Chevaldae? Would like to see Fetisov and Kozlov. Doubt the recently retired play. If one does it would probably be McCarty.

It almost sad to see Datsyuk miss on that move, it is one of those legendary moves. Makes it ok though because of how awesome Smith had to be to stop it. Bertuzzi is on fire lately, hope that continues.
-
That was pathetic. I wonder if he'd be singing the same song if Vancouver were involved.
-
Not a chance. Smith could easily be the next Subban as early as next year. I wouldn't trade Smith for Subban straight up, too much baggage already.

The dilemma is always like this though. And generally when you trade unknowns for known commodities, especially already proven elite ones, you win. Look back at all the recent big name deals. Pronger, Hossa, Kovalchuk, both Gretzky trades, etc. the team that got those players won the deal. Very few go the other way. I would trade Filpulla, one of our best prospects, our 1st + for a guy like Parise or Weber. Those guys are already elite, known, and young commodities and you'd likely lock them up for the rest of their careers which equates to more than 1 or 2 Cup runs. All we spent was potential, which is always a gamble. But the difference is that were gambling with a big chip stack this time and can afford to "lose". Although if you still got a franchise cornerstone out of it, is it still losing?

What I see (even though I think higher of our prospects than you) is that even if we don't have the next Datsyuk, we have enough very good prospects to package with a player and a pick for the next elite player we need. I really think the Wings have the prospects to get almost any of the up coming FA if the other teams are willing to deal. I think we would still have a good farm system after that trade as well. I've never seen our cupboard as full as it is now.

Wow. One of the best I've seen in awhile. The technicality of that hit in terms of the hitters placement and momentum were near flawless. Dude probably didn't see him coming either because his own guy was right there till it was too late. Keep your head up!
-
I can barely contain my excitement. I am concerned about ticket availability though, especially with those nuts from Toronto coming.
-
Well said. They finally paid homage to their heritage and its their best jersey to date. Been begging for this for years, especially after that "SENS" debacle. Maclean came from us...duh.
-
So we all gonna sport the Islanders jerseys we got for $12.97? Lol.

I don't like the idea of just the Furious Five, All-Star team. Probably there really isn't much room for debate. As for guys id like to see play on a line(s) together, or some strange lineup for the fun of it.... A dream 1st line: Datsyuk. Forsberg. Hull 2nd: Shanahan. Yzerman. C.Lemieux 3rd: Kozlov. Drury. Langenbrunner Defenseman: Pronger Lidstrom Foote. Rafalski Hannan. Duschene In terms of a relatively possible (as in not just a crazy all star lines) collection of players , this group has almost all the playmaking, grit, scoring ability, clutch playoff ability, and pure hockey sense that you could ask for...hard to get better than this.

Iginla Scores His 500th Career Goal
achildr1 replied to Bring Back The Bruise Bros's topic in General
Replace Eaves with one of our better prospects and I think you'll be closer to the truth. They probably would want Pulkinnen or Nyquist, a guy that may come close to bringing half of what Iginla has brought to the Flames. I don't think a 4th liner and two bad draft picks even tempts them. -
#1. Don't be 100% sure Selanne wouldn't leave Anaheim. If Anaheim is gonna stink it up the rest of the year, I wouldn't be surprised at all to see him waive his NTC. This guy doesn't scream Captain loyalty. #2. "MEh" to Suter? You'll pass on Weber?! If there was a chance we could get either of those guys it would be an enormous break. Considering Lidstrom's retirement and Nashville being in our division, Holland would be borderline nuts not to do it.
-
And stop playing a franchise with the Wings in NHL 12. Bobby Ryan would almost certainly cost us a top 3 prospect, Roster player, and maybe a 1st and another pick (cause our picks aren't exactly great). Ottawa's GM didn't do anyone besides Don Maloney any favors with that Turris trade. Rundblad and a good pick for Turris means a fortune for Bobby Ryan.

Good, I like to see Pens fans humbled. That lineup looks like an AHL roster. Lets see what the refs and Dan Bylsma can do with that rag tag group.
-
Exactly! That's when everybody on the ice was probably still waiting to get Kronwalled at any given time too. Add in Downey and a younger Brad Stuart and it certainly makes for much more physical looking team.

Corey Perry, Sidney Crosby, Logan Couture, Joe Thornton, and Ryan Kesler. I just don't ever want to see their faces ever again. Perry, Crosby, and Couture faces are like splinters in my eyes that just have to go away.

I went to Toronto in 2000, I believe. Three years with the Rangers before he went to T.O.
