What a series! Or what domination by the Wings! I'm so glad the Wings turned on the game we know they can play and were consistant in it. My observations... From Detroit Darren Helm - He has flipped a switch. I love this guy and always have since he first came up. I have very high expectations for him, but in this series, he surpassed them before I thought he would (at his age). Helm isn't a big guy but he hit Jovanoski and Yandle so hard you'd of thought he was Scott Stevens with speed. Some of his biggest hits led directly to goals and made him look dominating physically and offensively. If Datsyuk hadn't of dangled 80% of the Coyotes on any given play, Helm would be MVP of the series. Pavel Datsyuk - Dominating. Stepped his game up to legendary heights. Who can contain him, honestly? When he's this good he needs to be triple teamed. Jimmy Howard - I didn't feel the shakiness. He looked confidant and more than solid. If he plays like that, we'll probably go far. Wings - Fantastic effort. We outworked a supossed hardworking team. And to think Zetterberg missed the whole series! From Pheonix Shane Doan - The best Coyote, easily. He's Brendan Shanahan lite, mixed with the hateability of Sean Avery. Almost every note worthy play involved Doan on some level. Schlemko - Cinderella story. Free agent, undrafted, started ino Pheonix...in the CHL. Noticed him quite a bit. Had a nice goal. Kyle Turris - This kid is getting strong on the puck and looks like he has a chance to be a real good player. Ilya Bryzgalov - I think he's one of the biggest reasons Pheonix got ran over. I really felt like his body language screamed that he wasn't giving it his all. On the Franzen breakaway goal, you could barely tell the difference between him and a wide open goal. He played the shot like he knew Franzen was going to score. Confidance-less. I doubt he resigns with them. Whitney, Aucoin (LOL, apparently autotext on my phone turns Aucoin to 'sucking'), Stempniak, and Hanzel were near invisible.

He owned him. Beautiful hit.

Shane Doan is uber annoying.

I think Draper has been making Draper look five years younger. When he first came back this year he was hustling as hard as Helm. I could of swore he was 28 again.
-
I don't think we'll let him go. If for no other reason than him being Draper's long-term replacement, the Wings know the value of a guy like that. Also, Draper was not as good or as fast as Helm at Helm's age, there's more upside I believe. Lastly, when Draper was at his best, we had no salary cap and like 53 HOF'ers on the team. Helm should have more opportunity because we can't ice a team like that again.

Not me. I've always thought this kid could put up points. I'm waiting for him to lead the league shorthanded goals and points. Imagine if Franzen or Datsyuk was on his line versus Miller or Eaves. If Kopecky can put up 50 points, Helm should be able to easily. Whether he does or not though, his speed and work ethic are a treat to watch. How many 4th liners, that aren't fighters, bring you out of your seat consistently?

Why did you have to remind me of this? Easily one of the most painful, frustrating, and embarrassing memories I have as a Wings fan. My worst memories: 1. Game 6, Round 1, Edmonton. 3 or 4 goal lead going into the third, blew it with Hemsky icing it. I was nothing short of furious. 2. The Kings series. I couldn't believe the Kings beat us, the Los Angeles Kings, it just wasn't suppossed to happen. 3. Anaheim, '03. Just so frustrated that we couldn't score. 4. Forgot the year but the Av's beat us in the Conference semi-final. Peter Forsberg undeniably dominated the series. Almost eveytime he touched the puck, something scary happened. 5. Last year against San Jose. I was just so frustrated with the calls, I couldn't believe the refs were getting away with it. The worst called games I've ever seen. Blatantly one sided. 6. Pittsburgh '09. Don't get me wrong, this was bad. I was in Pittsburgh, downtown, when they won but this wasnt one of my worst. I believe we were the better team, we had injuries, and we won the year before. Felt bad for Conks and Hossa tho. The last two are lower on the list because with each passing year I believe the refs get worse and worse and almost dictate who wins more than the players on the ice. I get more mad when the Wings get out played but clearly lesser teams.

Eva, please tell me your being sarcastic. Kevin Stevens didn't make Mario Lemieux legendary. Same goes here.
-
Haha! Agreed.

I may be mistaken, but didn't the Wings beat the Jets in 96 in their last game in Winnepeg? Take it from here Alanis Morrisette ..."isn't it ironic? Don't ya think?"

Lol. Well done!

Please Ozzy, please. Take your 3 cups and 400 wins and call it a career.

They are rediculous. I wish they could play like they care for more than a couple periods.
-
Can't stand him. He used to be rediculous during the Wings - Avs rivalry, haven't liked him since. Good riddance.

Haha. The funny thing is, its a Canadian team too, soon they're blind, rabid support may end up sounding even more rediculous than Chicago's. It probably won't just be about being better than the Wings, but how they're better than America and all its teams. I hate Canada's arrogance, especially in regards to hockey. I was watching CBC the other day and they claimed the Gretzky's C stood for cooperation, that cooperation was an inherintly Canadian value and was essentially invented by them. I hate how CBC's intro just shows clips from he Canadian teams. If you suppossed own the game, why don't you support all the teams?

The Islanders, and their sea water "blue" Jerseys, have our number. The baby "blue" Thrashers destroyed us. The Predators, and their new "blue" jerseys, would almost certainly beat us in the playoffs. Our defense probably stinks because they stand so close to the "blue" line.

+1 Well said man, the condom thing is priceless and a good comparison.

I got more faith in JMac than Jimmy right now anyway. Dude has been making some huge stops. Save % is looking nice.

I was there too. It was easily the loudest ive ever heard the Joe, it was like we reached a whole new level of crazyness. I seen New York vs Boston, in Boston, and that was the loudest, rowdiest game i had ever been to. This was better.

So is he going to finish this year in GR?
-
He can take online classes bud. It ain't like he played a shift in the OHL and forfieted his college rights (same theory bu with academics, incredibly stupid rule btw), he'll could just finish school online. Glad your tearing up for him tho! Lol

Minnesota Parise. Mueller. Okposo Backes. Cullen. Wheeler Blake. Stoa. Langenbrunner Carter. Hendricks. Parrish Bochenski Byfuglien. Johnson Goligoski. Martin McBain. Leopold Niskanen. Gilbert Stalock J. Curry Weak goaltending, super deep talented blueline, and impact wingers.

I think your onto something. I wonder if that's something the NHL would consider, like maybe in place of the World's. I would imagine it would be a huge hit. Minnesota, Michigan, and Massachusetts would probably be the best. Those are the three biggest producers of US born players.

Its over boys, we have the winner. Nevertheless, I blame Shireen Saski.

I blame Brian Burke. Somehow its his fault, gotta be.
