Not bad. About time too. I guess what happens when we get everybody back will be the real test. Otherwise, if we expect this from Hudler, we may start thinking Helm is gonna keep up his current pace to.....
-
Ill buy that. Poile is a smart feller, done well with them. Except maybe Brendan Witt for a 1st round pick.

If Stuart was playing anywhere near the close to uselessness Lilja provided, there'd be a bounty on his head. (Even considering the suspect Lilja love affairs! ) LGW'ers don't ignore a bad cap hit when they see it. Its comments like that that cause me to forget any shred of a logical point that you sometimes almost seem to make. Very Mindfly-esque. Stuart knows what his size, skates, and stick are for, things Lilja was oblivious to.

Anyone surprised that when a Canadian team has a chance that they would be the pick of the majority of hockey media (CBC, TSN)?
-
Ehh. Is Fisher, besides fighting, a huge upgrade over Filppula? Is Fil worth even a 1st and 3rd? I'm gonna say it. I think Nashville, without Mike Fisher, is the team I least want to play in the first round. I believe they'd beat us.

That's not enough man. This is a 3rd overall, 20 year old d-man with big time potential, as you said, that could be a #1 guy. Our scraps aren't gonna cut it. I'd say it would take Tater, Smith, or a 1st to start with. A roster player out of Ericsson, Kindl, or Filpulla. If it were Hudler, we'd probably have to tack on a mid level prospect. Hudler/Ericsson Emmerton 1st ...and they'd probably still say no. Smith Filpulla +pick ...probably do it except not sure Kenny would.

This looks like a great return for the Leafs. I'm usually quietly hoping Toronto doesn't screw their rebuild up. It's nice to them do something right. Although I really don't like Burke. If I turn my tide on the Leafs its usually because I can't stand how delusional and rediculous Leafs fans are. Check out TSN's comments section on nearly any post regarding the list, its sick There was like 17 pages of comments for an article on Mike Brown signing. Ahhhhhh!

That's so ludicrous it may actually be what they do. This dude seems next to clueless. They're like the Lions a couple years ago, just when you see a glimmer of hope, they find a way t look rediculous and fail miserably. I'd laugh if they claimed the next goalie on waivers and he refused to report.

I agree with the people who didn't agree with this Meszaros thing. You are nitpicking at Stuart, who some say was one of our best and most consistant players last year ('09-'10!) to support overtrading for a suppossedly little bit better defenseman with a longer deal at big money. The guy above said it best, Yzerman got a 2nd for him. That's essentially what he's worth in the NHL. Basically the same that I'd imagine Stuart would be worth if you traded him today. If Stuart wasn't considered somewhat of a shutdown defenseman (which apparently you only think Nick is) he wouldn't be a very valuable considering the way he plays. Stuart is a gamer and he chose Detroit over a strong desire to stay in Cali with his family. He's dedicated and a true Wing. I bet if you proposed that deal to Kenny he shoot it down immediatly.

Hasnt Meech been on waivers more than once before? Seriously, through waivers or trade I'm sure most teams have had their chance and passed. I'd argue most teams wouldn't trade a 5th for him.

Anyone heard of/know if Pulkkinen can/will come over after the Finnish league ends? I'm unfamiliar with their scheduling other than knowing it should be close to over soon. He's been thoroughly destroying that league and could almost certainly tear up the AHL. I doubt he will still be over there after this season anyway. If he came over to finish out the year, we could put him next to iFlip. Might even resign iFlip to help him next year. This kid looks like a grade A steal, makes me wonder why the Isles didn't take him over Kabanov for their high risk/high reward pick. Also, this just showed me how much a fourth round pick can be worth in the NHL.
-
"Oh Baxter, your so wise..."
-
Good points guys. Although I'd still want him here after next season, it wouldn't hurt to leave him there next year.
-
I 2nd everything you said.
-
Umm, wow. He just hurt his own career. He could possibly be in the NHL in two years if he would have come over and got used the physical play and the rinks.
-
I really hope this gets figured out. Osgood shouldn't have been our backup this year, let alone next. Treating a veteran goalie the same way you treated Maltby is tricky. You can't be worse then a guy that would replace you for three years and still have a job.
-
Well said, I'll go with Draper too. Dude looks like a new man out there.
-
Right. I don't see Ozzy retiring, and unfortunetly, if he doesn't I don't see Kenny cutting him loose either. Kenny has serious man love for Osgood. What I do see if Kenny picking up another goalie to challenge for the job and possibly force Osgood out. Kind of like Maltby this year, he can still play for us of he wants, just in GR most of the time. The Nabokov thing kind of proved that, because I believe if Nabby would have wanted to, he would of been around next year. And Howard would stay over Osgood. I like Conklin in theory but he's having a terrible season and we need something a little more sure.

Look man, I figured you'd get mad. Sorry, but your ideas just aren't realistic. If that's what YOU want, great. But if this thread goes anywhere I'd be willing to bet the majority of posters would not only give an emphatic NO to the idea of trading 2 1st round picks in any one deal, let alone for a third line center. I don't believe Tallon will get that, let alone your type deal, from anyone for Weiss. He's just simply not worth it. As a note, I've heard Weiss's name in rumours too, wasn't saying he wouldn't be dealt. Campoli is an offensive minded 5th or 6th d-man on this team. Not worth a 2nd. Carkner would cost less, or the same (not a 2nd) and bring something we don't have. I hold true to that, if we get nothing else at the deadline, we will most likely aquire a goaltender. Edit: If we trade 2, 1st round picks in any deal it will almost certainly be/should be towards Nick's replacemant. As well, I think FLA's trade block looks like: McCabe, Olesz, Vokoun, Clemmanson, Stillman, Weiss.
-
No, on both your trades. I doubt Florida would take our depth guys, and one dimensional Hudler, for thier longest tenured player. Salei being in that deal is just not something that happens. On top of that, 2 1sts might be enough by itself and is completely ridiculous for a player like Wiess anyway. Hudler and a 1st would be too much for Kenny I believe. Also, you don't trade a 2nd round pick for Campoli and we don't need him anyway. If we make a deal, it will almost certainly be for a goalie. How about for fun, we take your trades an tweak em... No Weiss, but Clemmanson from FLA instead. Give em Corey Emmerton or some older fringe prospect. Carkner from OTT, instead of Campoli. 3rd round pick. Kenny, get r done!
-
Who are our realistic choices though, cap wise? The list is short and Steve already poached one of the better options.
-
I'm all for keeping people in check about too easily hating on Howard, but i'm gonna support the JMac love right now. I'd probably be playing him for a couple more games over Jimmy.
-
Hmm. Arnott would be a great choice. Veteran center who could play #2 or #3, depending on where they peg Staal. What would he cost? Langenbrunner-like trade (conditional 3rd pick) plus a mid level prospect? With Malkin's large cap hit off the books they could pick up Kovalev too at probably a pretty cheap price, probably les than the Ponikarovsky trade last year (Luca Caputi like prospect). If they could trade Dustin Jeffery, a 2nd, and another pick or mid level prospect for Arnott and Kovalev they should definetly do it. Kovalev, if he doesn't bold for the KHL, could sign on the cheap next year and could be more driven playing in a familiar, contending team where he's just a complimentary piece. Low risk, high reward player who could put up a point per game next to Crosby. Arnott provides Cup experiance, grit, offense, and leadership to a young team. For what h should cost it is a win-win. That said, my heart hopes they trade Goligoski, Tangradi, Dan Bylsma and Mario Lemieux to Florida for Rostislav Olesz, Bryan McCabe,

Definetly don't want it to happen like that but I won't complain if the Winger-less PitPens bow out early....
