Leafs acquire Jonathan Bernier from the LA Kings for Matt Frattin, Ben Scrivens and TOR 2nd round pick in either the 2014 or 2015 NHL Draft http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=426131 One team out of the Luongo picture. ...but what about Reimer??!! Goalie controversy to be central focus of this year's Leafs woes?

Dreger: Filppula looking for $5.5m/season over at least 7 years

It was tongue in cheek on my part... ...but I could see Flip ending up in Calgary... and I like making fun of Feaster and his follies. -

If you want him to rot, he's gotta go to Calgary. Hell, see if Feaster will give you a first for Flip's rights and Sammy. He's done dumber things. Two birds, one stone. Roster space for two forwards. -
What? ...because he's the first confirmed compliance buyout we should jump all over Briere? He's a forward going backwards. (...as far as production, etc. goes.) Great guy, but... No. Thank. You.

All but confirms buyouts for Briere and Bryz. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-puck-daddy/flyers-sign-four-years-mark-streit-5-25-220323503.html

He bought a fishing boat! -
It's certainly not that horrible Fall Out Boy song they were playing during the time out a few minutes ago.

2013 Stanley Cup Finals - Boston Bruins vs. Chicago Blackhawks

Nope. It's the part where they get "shut out" because they got "shut down." -

Stooopid free agency rules I'm sure. -

Neither Malkin nor Streit have signed a deal. They have agreed in principal to an extension... which is probably what Datsyuk and the Wings will announce tomorrow. -

What a setup by Jagr... and patience by Bergeron to settle the puck down and get that goal -

Boston's third line. wow. -
"Brave" is not the word I would use. I would agree that he is not afraid to make a move that he thinks would better his team, however not sure that those moves are really all that well thought out. I think Philly should go after Bernier, but as mentioned above they'll probably look at Miller, Luongo, Backstrom. Hell, what about Tim Thomas. LOL.

So, who will they overpay to be their goaltender? They can't possibly be rolling with Steve Mason as their #1.
-
This makes no sense to me. You can bury their contract due to injury but can't buy them out even though they're unlikely to ever play again? Streit gets traded to Columbus in two years... probably for Bobrovsky.

The problem that I have with Philly using LITR as a way to circumvent Pronger's cap-hit is the fact that they could easily use a compliance buyout on Pronger, and be free of his contact and inability to play, but NOooOOOOoooo they're going to use those buyouts on those horrible $6 million cap-hits, not Pronger's paltry $4.9. I also glare at Boston for the similar move with Savard. Although as a whole, I have a lot more sympathy for the Boston Bruins and the fact that Savard is no longer able to play than I am for Philly and their contract with Pronger and their overall management and tendency to overpay free-agents.

...and who does O'Reilly play for. Oh. Right. The 'lanche. Nice way to shoot yourself in the foot for future dealings with Colorado. No wonder why the Flames are talking to Shanny about an executive position. Feaster out. Shanny in.

ECF - (4) Boston Bruins vs. (1) Pittsburgh Penguins
e_prime replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
I would not pay a months salary to see either Chara or Crosby fight ANYONE for this exact reason. Chara is "not really a great fighter" and Crosby is even worse. Besides, if Crosby fights and gets injured in any way, shape, or form, we'll have to hear about it for FOREVER AND EVER. -

Rightfully so. Have you seen his play in the last few games? To quote one John Tortorella... "He stinks" I do like the fact that Torts "tells it like it is" I like that he's willing to sit or demote players that are playing poorly. I do not like that he acts like a spoiled brat and uses the media as his sounding board only when he feels like it. When the Rags get bounced, I hope that spells the end of Torts in NYC.
