It's also almost the last name of a lesser known Brit who was in New Order. Really it was just a spelling mistake.

Wow. This offseason has hit the dog days of summner if you two are bickering about the merits and flaws of Williams and Calder. EDIT: summner... wtf is that?

So glad it's not Turco. I understand the "shine" that Emery has... Honestly, I kinda hoped for him, but I understand we're talking about Emery vs. a proven backup. A guy that's helped tend goal for several Finals Teams vs. a guy who had good time in Russia taking on his trainer/coach because he tried to put a cap on his head "rehabbing" his career. Sorry, I like Emery... and maybe it was a good fit, but I'll go with the known commodity. To the naysayers.... it was the fu<<ing Blues. THE BLUES. What did you think would happen to his numbers?

Where in the world is Manny Fernandez? Oh, wait... it's not 2006 anymore. EDIT: s***. He's as old as I am. Nevermind. EDIT2: Yes, I've been championing him since before then. No, I don't know what's wrong with me.

Funniest thing... The Isles are still paying Yashin $2.2 million with his previous buyout. ...for the next four years. I guess they want to make his cap hit count for something... oh! and probably pay him a little more per year as well. I know this isn't all Garth Snow's doing... but seriously... What? Is? He? Thinking?
-
Hey, but think of it this way guys... They can hit the cap floor with just this signing!
-
As much as I dislike Patrick Kane, the likelihood that this is true is about... zero percent. ...and this belongs in the rumors section of the watercooler... or something. Really. is this your source: Annonymous must mean credible

To put this into perspective, only nine players are signed through 2012-13. Yandle, Vrbata, Klesla, and Morris are signed through 2013-2014. Yandle is the only Coyote signed past then. So, stability (ownership, roster, etc.) could not possibly have been a factor in what Yandle was looking for in re-signing.

Matt would like to remind you all, Please refrain from littering on the highway... at least for the next few months. Thems some straight-up snazzy slacks. Love the Lacoste belt buckle too. Yes, I spotted that little alligator straight away.

@GMillerTSN: Troy Brouwer signs a 2 year deal with Washington worth $2.35m a year. He was acquired from Chicago for Washington's 1st rd pick this year. @capgeek: #NHL #Capitals are about $3.33m away from the off-season cap of $70.73m, according to our estimates. Lots of time to sort things out. What forward just became an ex-Cap?

Thanks for reiterating my initial post, F. Michael. I'm not slotting anyone into any spot past #3. As you shouldn't either Stevkrause... I mean, didn't you just trade Hudler and Kindl for Lucic. There goes that competition at the #6/7 between Commodore and Kindl I kid! I kid! As the ever optimist here, I would love Ericsson to give White a run at your #4 spot.
-
Something this team DESPERATELY needs. I don't know how many times I've stood up screaming at the TV... "Get that guy outta there!" This. I know that so many folks on this board wanted some big splash of a move for some defenseman that probably would have worked out just fine or at least on paper would seem like a more solid move... but in my estimation the level of competition that's going to arise from spots 4-7 is going to be incredible. Commodore has stated he's coming here to work. White is looking for stability. Kindl's gotta be hungry to solidify his spot. Ericsson, well, let's hope he's willing to earn that payday. Who knows? Exelby gets a sniff and he wants more... even Janik... could have a very hungry 4-7. ...and if it all doesn't work out. We still have a LOT of money to make additional moves.
-
I guess I'm just a little more patient.
-
White played for, and contributed to the Sharks team last year who, lest you forget, beat us in the playoffs. As far as Commodore goes, isn't that exactly what we need? You act as if Holland threw huge money at either of these guys and has left himself no other options. Modano as supposed to be that goal scorer last year and we all saw how that worked out. He got injuried and we had very little money to make moves with when the trade dead line came. You act as if the season is over before it's even begun, and I'm sure your GM skills would be just stellar.
-
True, but other than passing the guy's invisible and soft as marshmallow fluff.
-
No one. Ever. In the same way that no single player signing this year would have replaced Rafalski.
-
Something completely unrealistic.

From reading the Sharks message boards... you know, people that have seen him play recently, it looks as if most people were wanting White back if they could afford to sign him, but once Burns was traded for, he seemed too expensive and unlikely to be re-signed. Also, remind your friends how well Lebda played for the Laffs. Should even it out just a smidgen. Just like you know Smith is NHL ready? Kaberle will sign for some stupid amount of money somewhere for way too long. He was over-valued by just about everyone at one point in time and showed his worth by failing to bolster Boston's powerplay. I am glad Holland did not sign him.

Again, we're talking about what he was like in junior. I'm sure the coach that threw his equipment out was a real humble and attitude free guy himself. Sounds about right if you're tossing someone's equipment out the back door. Real direct and mature way to handle the situation. A life lesson for White, I'm sure. Alarm bells? No. Hardly. SJS: 10 Forwards, 8 defensemen, 2 Goalies. They've got just under four million to shore up three roster spots -- likely forwards. White became expendable when the Sharks traded for Burns. Also, they went even more bargin with Jim Vandermeer for a cool million. Solely for veteran presence to round out their bottom tier defensemen. White wasn't going to sign with SJ for that price. Prior to that he was traded from Carolina to SJ for a second rounder in order to bolster the Sharks D. Sounds like a solid move and he played solidly for San Jose. Prior trade: From Calgary to Carolina for Anton Babchuk. To quote the Hockey News: "This is a swap of a pair of underachieving defensemen, mainly. The 'Canes get the smaller White, who is usually a bit more reliable in his own end. Babchuk's big point shot could make him a strong candidate to see quality time on the power play. More than anything, this deal is a bit of a shakeup for the Flames." He got traded from Calgary when Calgary was sucking and needed a change. He played solidly, but not spectacularly in Carolina and then was grabbed up by the team that beat us in the 2nd round to bolster their puck movement. Your optimism is lighting the way for all to follow. Hope this all works out for you, bro. In the real world, Ken Holland has not thrown insane money at second rate free agents. I for one am relieved.
-
First, a thread from HF from 2007 to talk about his bad attitude when he was in Juniors? He's had four years to grow up some. You're grasping for straws here. Second, as if no one has ever been traded before. Finally, bargin price and low risk.
-
Would not be averse to this at all. ...but Holland isn't really doing any more work this offseason is he?? Like the C64 signing, White will offer some serious competition for ice time for the D-men not named Kronwall, Stuart, and Lidstrom. I like this move. Hopefully the new D-coach will inspire some competition between them as well.
-
Enjoyable.

SUTER!!

Hmmm. Do you maybe not like this guy? Three posts in less than ten minutes. Tell us how you really feel. I'm sure all you Negative Nancys out there think this was Holland's first phone call all off-season. So, I'll leave you to your endless bitching. I am satisfied with this signing in both term and price and I think some of you may be surprised how this signing turns out.
