I thought Reghr was rumored to be headed to Buffalo. Either way... is Calgary planning on icing any defensemen next year?
-
Dude. I hear this guy is LIGHTS OUT! Will give Howie a run at the starter's job!! j/k
-
Fine by me. While I like Joey. He didn't earn anything more than the role of third stringer. He's fine in that role, but he's not Howard's back up. Salei. Well, the decision is now his... and ours. If he's got no offers come August and we still need a defenseman... he's serviceable... and we can offer him less.

Understandably so. Until this Lidstrom talk of wanting the dude, I was totally "NO NO. NO. NO NO NO NO N-N-NO NO NO.... etc" Seriously. I am over the "lets get another Drake," "who's the next veteran aching for a cup?" Done. Don't want it. ...but if Lids thinks it'll work. I'm game. Why the hell not?

Uh, yeah... I probably would.

...because even Eva knows that Franzen has more trade value than Hudler. I understand the knocks on Franzen, but why would we trade him to a team that needs playoff scoring when that's exactly what we need him for? Also, and don't want to slight the guy, but I think he'll retire due to age or injury before his production doesn't meet his cap hit. As for the trade options: Enstrom. Sure, I'd take him. Bogo is still a big question mark for me. Lundqvist. Hmmm. Didn't know the Rangers were looking to move him. Didn't know we were unhappy with Howard. Besides, neither Howard nor Franzen are marquee players... the kind that the Rags tend to drool over the prospect of overpaying.

I don't think there's anything to take personally here. Weber's a pretty smart guy (his agent is probably too) and I'm sure that Nashville said to them, "Hey, we're working on this deal... You want to come back here and we want you back. While we're ironing out the details... Why don't we eliminate some distraction and file for arbitration. Just to keep the flies off." Whether the deal is done tomorrow, next week, or next month this move by Nashville is simply to protect their interests. His arbitration can't happen until after July 20. He knows he's getting a raise, Nashville knows he needs a raise, they just have to iron out the numbers so that next year when Rinne and Suter come up as UFAs they know where they (all parties) stand. No reason to get bent out of shape.

Not really surprising in either case. Both teams want to retain these players, and give themselves as much time as possible to negotiate without having the prospect of an offer sheet coming to the player. I will be *VERY* surprised if Weber isn't locked up for long term. Parise will be a interesting case. You have to wonder what New Jersey can offer him, and if Parise really wants to stay in New Jersey.

If we waive him and he is claimed we do not receive any compensation. If the Wings are really that desperate to get rid of Hudler, he would be traded for some sort of pick and not just given away.

Art Regner - Fox Sports Detroit I don't want Jagr here, and if he wants a huge payday... I want him even less. There's no way that the Wings can compete with what Jagr can make in the KHL without jeopardizing the ability to sign a replacement for Rafalski.

Yeah! We wanna see 7ougngo again. Oh well, maybe we get to see 5chni6e7. God. What have I done?

Is that supposed to be funny?

You don't say! "Mr. Highstick", "Mr. Indifferent", and "Mr. Can't Keep Both Hands on the Stick"?
-
Correct you are, sir. (Capgeek needs to update their s***!)

*yawn* Really? I love NPR, but seriously... last years lost puck? Couldn't THEY just write a piece about adult biting?
-
As much as I love your avatar. The fact that Wild fans of HF say they need a scorer with size doesn't mean that Burns is up for a trade. (Despite any rumblings...) You don't say?! Seto over Heats though... I don't know what Heater's deal is, but I would take almost anyone over this guy. Dirty... but yes, I'm in agreement.

Also, he won't cry, pout, or complain if he gets healthy scratched for 83.725% of the season. He will gladly step aside for Mursak or Emmerton. He will just play ...but not for more than 750K. (and Drew Miller will, unfortunately, go bye-bye.)

The problem is that most "anti-enforcers" who want "grit" don't see those as good points for replacing a player like Miller. (Who I'm certainly not going to scoff at for his abilities.) I get it. They aren't willing to see how Prust, Konopka, and McCormick fit in because they view them as poor penalty takers, savages, whatever... without viewing their upside... Which I just don't get. Seriously. (With the exception of Konopka) McCormick and Prust average less than than a minor penalty per game.

LW. Before, I just thought you as kneejerk or reactionary... Now. I see where you are coming from. ...and I'm on board! EDIT: Emoticons don't work on my phone for some reason... and well, I'm all about those.

Lolllllllllll. Good to know brother!

Oh c'mon lefty... Where's yr heart? God, I love me some Drapes... But For the love of the aforementioned! Gosh!

You get a plus 1 for that. I'm all for taking the shots where they're available. HOWEVER, and I'm not going to copy and paste stat lines for you, but neither Prust nor McCormick were undisciplined during the playoffs (however short their runs may have been.) Also they're not to blame for any stupid penalties taken while the Wings were playing. ...but besides fighting/grit both of them have comparable offensive numbers to Miller in the regular season, which I believe is what most of us in this thread are looking for. A regular season guy, not a guy that's going to upgrade our secondary scoring in the playoffs. (Not that I disagree that it needs to be addressed.)

He learned it by watching me.
