Hmmm. Succinct, but I don't think that really answers the question.

I. Am. So. Confused.

I wasn't trying to make them out to be horrible, really just wanted to take a shot at St. Louis. All these numbers aside, they did finish 10 points out of the playoffs. I agree with that assessment. He played in only one more game than the previous season and had 2.48 GAA .921 SV% Well look at that. People in agreement. People having quality discussion. Whodathunkit? Looking around the league at the FA class of goalies the only others out there that spark my interest as a back-up are Theodore and Boucher. Each had 29 starts: 15/11/3 - 2.71/.916 // 18/10/4 - 2.42/.916 (respectively) I think both of them can probably land a slightly higher price tag than I'd be willing to shell out though...

Really, blue? 7 million. c'mon now.
-
True, true. Also to be noted though, those games were played with the St. Louis Blues. Just wondering... Who's your backup of choice Crymson?
-
Briere has a NMC. Hartnell a NTC. Richards has a NMC that kicks in July 1, 2012. Carter has no clauses attached. Timonen a NMC. Pronger and Lappy have 35+, the former's contract being all but unmovable. (as discussed earlier.)
-
Agreed. This. Hudler's 2.875 plus and additional 1.5 - 2 million invested a true scoring winger would be sweet. ...and there would still be money left for re-signing and at the trade deadline.
-
The PIM totals for those two rosters is astounding. In 87-88: Probert with 398. Kocur with 263. Gallant with 242. :!:
-
The buyout would save them actual dollars but not CAP dollars

Those teams (EDM/NYI) are really young and honestly I think they're still figuring out how to play and win in the NHL. I honestly think that both teams just need some solid healthy veteran leadership. (Something neither team is willing to invest in.) I remember an incident from this year where someone from Edmonton fought someone when Hall was ready to drop the gloves for himself. Sorta like when Datsyuk dropped them to fight Perry. That's the kind of grit I like to see... but I'm certainly not against someone else doing that kind of work. How well did the Wings fair back in those early days of Stevie Y with Probert at his side? Just sayin'.

Beat me to it. Almost 5 million in cap hit too. He's signed until he's 42. Maybe he can play until then, but he won't be worth 4.9 at that point.

I think the Lucic shove to Mason Raymond is great. (1:08) Concentrating on chirping Burrows, he barely even looks at him, gives him a shove that just screams, "GTFOH. I'm busy."

Honestly, I could care less what most of the knuckledraggers over there think. Most of them rag on Jack Edwards for being over the top when calling a fight but then gush like fountain of praise when the enforcer of their fancy has a decent bout and decry other comments that give their guy one less punch scored. ...but saying worst enforcing doesn't equate to softest over there is wrong. In their eyes it's exactly what that award means. So, what kind of grit are you looking for? Or do we already have it? Also, I don't think most of the pro-enforcers here on this site want the Wings to ice a team of goons, so lets not get silly about what people want.

I'll never understand you folk that don't get the idea that the Wings could use a guy who'll drop the gloves with some regularity during the season. One guy taking a penalty here and there while giving the opposing team something to think about when it comes to taking liberties with our players certainly isn't going to cost us in the win column. AND HELL, I'm not even talking about a guy that JUST fights. Hell, I'll even throw this little nugget out there for you to ponder over. Seguin is healthy scratched last night in favor of Thorton. Sure, he might not be on the scorers sheet in the way of points... but I tell you what... his presence was felt and it certainly helped spark some team-mates and get some opposing players off their game.

I can think of one thing that we all agree on: The league needs to fix this. One way or the other. I feel like the league piece-mealed Rule 48 together to placate the masses. Concussions and such have leapt to the forefront of everyone's minds, so as a league let's make sure it seems like we're doing something. 48.1 Illegal Check to the Head – A lateral or blind side hit to an opponent where the head is targeted and/or the principal point of contact is not permitted. Why can't we just ban checks to the head? Would that be so wrong? Hit a guy in the head whether it be non-intentionally or purposeful and you get a major. Sort out the severity of intention... have an off-ice official review the hit. (Either the way that goals are reviewed or an additional official trained to make these types of calls. You've got five minutes, bub. Make it good.) If the contact with the head was not the principal point of contact the player returns to the ice after serving the major. If the contact with the head is deemed the principal point of contact the player receives a game misconduct and is subject to supplemental discipline. (Of course, supplemental discipline is a completely different beast. ) Note: I'm assuming that you all understand what I mean by this which is different than a player being hit in the head in a different circumstance. Example: Player A goes to deliver a hit, Player B lowers his lowers his head or extends his body out causing the head to be hit. EDIT: I'll try to dig up some video to support what I mean. Well... I hope Shanny's ready to do some work. 'Cuz I think we'd all like that answer.

Konopka is great with faceoffs and he's defensively sound. An energy guy who's willing to fight and to hit. McCormick can play any forward position, but his numbers are a little skewed as his last year was his healthiest. He is a right handed shot, but it's not like he's going to be on the powerplay. So...
-
Who needs a powerplay when you've got a penalty kill?
-
Kessler and Seidenberg! EDIT: Spelling. Beers do not help this skill... or lack of.
-
Thank God. I need to go to bed.
-
Overtime looks certain.
-
So great that he hasn't returned to the ice since! Awesome!
-
I thought that this had been denied by both sides. Both the offer and the report that it had been turned down.
-
Noticed? He was kinda hard to miss. Sweet look.
-
I think that's already been confirmed as fact and re-alignment won't happen until 2012-13. Travel is going to be a *****.
-
Rumors that Shanny might make it a committee. Which would be a smart move.
