    Chara's hit on Pacioretty

...and you're giving him the attention he desires.

    Chara's hit on Pacioretty

Pacioretty has at least one fractured vertebrae and severe concussion. Upon this news, I believe Chara will definitely be suspended.

    Chara's hit on Pacioretty

Here's an example of a very similar hit. Same area. Same Team delivering hit. (CONSPIRACY!! ) Spoiler: Tyrell gets up http://video.nhl.com/videocenter/console?hlg=20102011,2,957&event=BOS202 Sorry, can't get it to embed. It's Lucic on Tyrell at 19:37 in the 1st period from the B's/Bolts game from March 3rd.

    Byslma earns three-year contract extension

Whether you like the Pens or not, the guy's a good coach. The extension is deserved. He's had a rough go this year with injuries, but Adams worthy? No.

    Chara's hit on Pacioretty

...and rightfully so, his team was playing like s***. This.

    Chara's hit on Pacioretty

No. We'd be more upset because it is "our" player. Slappies excluded. Most, if not all of us, would still have the same opinion on the hit. If it were clearly intentional, we wouldn't be discussing it. It is hockey. There is hitting in hockey and sometimes it has unfortunate results. I'm not even touching your last sentence. I mean, I don't see the intent to drive him into the glass like that. He doesn't ride him into the glass. He finishes his check. Questionable if, as everyone says and thinks, he knows exactly where he is on the ice and what'll happen if he finishes his check. It's an unfortunate, but not malicious hit.

Still not seeing the intent. Oh right, it's not visible.

    Chara's hit on Pacioretty

Not that I don't appreciate A LOT of the video work that you do but, not that you've even broken this hit down, if you look at video hard enough, you can see whatever you want to see out of it. The game is played in a speed faster than replay, screenshots, and slow-motion... There are certainly a lot of players out there that deliberately make bad decisions or premeditated actions on the ice that lead to injury. Other players also make split second decisions that involve injury whether there is intent or not. As I said in the previous thread, I think Chara's received all the punishment he'll get. 5 minutes for interference. Game Misconduct. I'll leave it at that... Except to disagree and say that Claude was a terribly dirty player... although just like Chara's hit tonight, I'm not sure he meant to rub Draper out into the boards like that.

I think Chara and Pacioretty's history is pretty mild at best. Chara took exception to a slight bump at the end of a heated game and it sparks a melee... Chara's not an exceptionally dirty player who's going to risk suspension to avenge a bump. He's received the only disciple that he'll get. 5 minutes and game misconduct. Which is appropriate for the hit. Stop looking for excitement that isn't here in this game. Are they rollovers or are they just loading up extra hard tonight? I've never experienced them as badly as this evening.

Pretty nasty looking. He lost consciousness. They took him off the ice on a backboard and stretcher.

Yeah. That was crazy. I'm not sure I've seen a player hit that part of the glass before. Hoping Pacioretty is okay.

Oh yay! PTI will be discussing this for :20 seconds today. This is why I hate when players do boneheaded things. It causes discussion of hockey by those who have no understanding of the game. ...and no, I don't consider Wilbon's blind homerism for the Hawks as understanding of the game.

Like I said, devil's advocate. You mean like this: DiBenedetto gets hit AGAIN by Clutterbuck. Konopka takes exception hits Clutterbuck. Staubitz take exception and drops the mitts against Konopka.

Disclaimer: Playing devil's advocate here. Gilles cares whether Clutterbuck's hit was clean/questionable or not... That's why he's there... to "protect" young players (DiBenedetto - 22y/o - second game) ...and the incidents are mere moments apart. They are tied together. Clutterbuck delivers a hit Gilles sees as questionable. He delivers his retaliation/protection. He's just doing it wrong.

Funny how that Minny video fails to show Clutterbuck's hit from seconds before... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HObjS14bPuU As a marginal "player", Gilles needs to learn to keep his mitts and arms down. He'll get 4 games.
