So lets say Lilja does come back this season... say a couple months before the playoffs and he puts forth a fairly decent effort, but he isn't nearly as effective as he was prior to his injury. Would you resign him in the offseason? How much would you resign him for/how long? I hate to say it, but I think he's done. Hypothetically, if he were to come back and have a quality couple of months of getting back into game shape and had a decent showing in the playoffs, I'd sign him for a year at maybe $750,000. I know that would put him at a lower salary than Ericsson for next season, but unless he came back with a stellar showing... I think with all the question marks surrounding him I wouldn't see him worth much more. Show some loyalty to him and some sympathy to his situation, but with the patience we've had with him, expect the same from him.

Oh, we're making the playoffs. I don't even think they're worried about what playoff spot they'll be yet, but I get your point... ...and there are currently teams stinking it up WAYYY worse than the Wings and some of those teams will probably make the playoffs too. I'm just glad to see that not everyone has the "sky is falling" mentality after a handful of games into the current season.
