Why the helping of crow? That goal had no business getting in the net. Way wide.

4. N: Patrick Roy. A: LGW

A la Sammy, Draper, Maltby, Cleary, etc... you know, the Holland model. Except this time around we won't have to agonize about how much Abby will be signing for or for how long each and every off season. Instead, we can continuously ***** about his contract for years to come. ... Yay?
-
Correct. We are talking about practice, Riley's brother, a Euro with an elevated temper, some shoving, probably some crosschecking, possibly some fisticuffs, but in likelihood a nasty lil' slapfight. Gee. To be a fly on the wall. Would clear all this up for errrybody.

Smith ain't Allen Iverson. He needs practice.
-
...because he was told by Blash to engage with/block out the attacking forwards in front of the net which he has not been doing. At least not well. The dummy's just following instructions. Pulks just took exception to the enthusiasm in which Smitty was engaging. I'm sure once Pulks pats him on the head and tells Smith what a good guy he is all will be back on track.

Still making less than Clarkson.

Don't you think DeKeyser and Mrazek both will get short bridge deals? I mean, Howard did before landing his big number deal and even a guy as valuable as Subban got a bridge deal. I don't think we have to worry about those two guys getting BIG MONEY for at least two more years. Let him "get going" and then trade him. Athanasiou and Larkin have speed and hands. As far as Abby goes, he's the keeper. The guy's a workhorse. He's up on that top line where NOBODY, I mean NOBODY ever thought he could be and he's kept himself there ...but if his production falls off or you need to change things around, you can slot him in just about ANYWHERE in the lineup. The dollars and cents guy that I am: I say you lock this guy up for seven years now at 4.25 instead of the going rate of 5.25+ a couple years from now. (or if you're Toronto, two years ago... see David Clarkson.) At least this way we don't have to agonize every off-season as to how much he's going to overpay for Abby or if that contract is going to be just one or two more years of agony. (See Sammy, Clears, Maltby, Draper, etc.)

In the toughest division in the NHL, they could end up being the best team that doesn't make the playoffs because of the way the seeding is structured. http://www.hockeywilderness.com/2015/10/28/9625390/nhl-playoffs-central-pacific-division-western-conference-chicago-winnipeg-minnesota-nashville-dallas

Just some more perspective for those worried about how much we spend on goaltending: Dallas - 10.4 NYR - 9.461 Minny - 9 Calgary - 8.737 Colombus - 8.225 Vancouver - 8.125 Nashville - 7.725 Boston - 7.7 Montreal - 7.652 Carolina - 7.45 Colorado - 7.35 Tampa - 7.227 L.A. - 7.05 Washington - 6.85 NJ - 6.725 NYI - 6.562 Chicago - 6.587 Arizona - 6.542 Toronto - 6.45 Pittsburgh - 6.35 Detroit 6.029 Philly- 5.725 Florida - 5.583 Ottawa - 5.55 St. Louis - 4.85 San Jose - 4.6 Winnipeg - 4.475 Buffalo - 4.37 Ducks 3.4 Edmonton - 2.45 These are just the simple cap numbers pulled from nhlnumbers.com. Some teams have three goaltenders on their roster and against their cap number due to injury, etc. Even with those adjustments, we're in the lower half to bottom third of what we're spending for Jimmy Howard and Petr Mrazek. Even after Mrazek's raise. We're probably sitting pretty with cost vs. value.

People are going to start? Ha. It's been like that for years. Fact: Fans have always and will always question what certain GMs pay for certain players, question the players that are played, players that are traded, etc. To put the current goalie situation into some perspective: How much was Chris Osgood getting paid when people were screaming that Howard should be playing instead? I'm not going to bother looking up the numbers, but rather just say this: The goaltender that having the strongest play should be the goaltender in net. No matter the cost associated with the player. So far, these two guys have been pretty even. So keep doing what we've been doing. Maybe give a guy two starts in a row after a win and it's not a back-to-back situation. ...either way, at this point, I'm not complaining about goaltending or the money being spent on it. If we need to free up some cap space I can think of one of two 4+ million or one of two 2+ million dollar defensemen that can be moved rather than Jimmy "Better than Bad, He's Good" Howard.

...but Ericsson has been paired with DeKeyser. Which has been surprisingly decent?!? Pairings for the last two games have been: Kronner - Smith Dekeyser - Ericsson Kindl - Marchenko That top pairing hasn't been giving me as many fits as I thought it might, but I think Green needs to slot back in next to Kronwall. Ericsson can stay with Dekeyser for the time being. Leaving us with Marchenko, Kindl, and Smith on that third pairing... Which could plop us right back into scary pairing territory. OR Kronner - Smith Dekeyser - Green Ericsson - Marchenko Kindl

Yeah, I'm scratching my head on that one too. I gotta imagine that firing Bruce is a more realistic option.
