Give me a break. All of this seems like extreme belly-aching. Most of these issues are slight hiccups. Not crippling long term or short term. Is Quincey worth a first... probably not. ...but would Holland have drafted a first round pick anyway... probably not. He would have traded it for two 2nd rounders and then traded one of those second round picks for two more third rounders. Get over Cleary. He's on the roster until he's ready to be done. Just like Maltby. Just like Draper. Suck it up. He's not even playing. Tootoo wasn't played by Babcock... not Holland. Point the blame in the right direction, sir. Then he, along with Colo were bought out. Would have been Sammy if he wasn't injured... ...and please, let's not pretend like other GMs don't resign guys that they're familiar with. And I'm sorry, but Franzen is worth his cap hit. Am I enamored with his play all of the time? No. I'm sure Holland isn't either but Holland certainly didn't know that the latest CBA would include a cap recapture clause that would make that Franzen deal a little less digestable. So. Now he's in the wrong for trying to get Suter and Parise? He just can't win. Worst GM ever. Kindl isn't waived because Ken Holland understands the need for depth... and he's not just going to give away a guy that's signed for a few years at a reasonable price. Except... except... except... Yes. All those "what if's" we should be considering. Regarding last night's game: What is up with Mrazek getting so far out of net on multiple plays? Does he always do that? Does anyone else have a heart-attack whenever he does? Should I not worry so much?

Do we need a trade to get our offence going ?

...but Seguin was a "problem" for Boston. ...and yet somehow Lucic isn't a problem and shouldn't be traded. -

...for Edmonton Robbery by Edmonton and losing our collective s*** isn't the half of it... I like how this proposal was written pretty much as a sales pitch for Detroit acquiring Petry... when the real piece in that trade would be Hall. ...but sure, let's trade away our third best center (behind Z and Dats) our first bonafied sniper we've drafted in years, a budding prospect who's lighting it up in the AHL, and the guy who's arguably the next D call-up behind XO -- for a guy who's a secondary trade piece (such as say... Helm or Kindl would be in any trade put together by us) in Petry and a guy who's "uncoachable." Sure. That makes sense. Also, why does every single trade proposal have to include the fact that Z and Dats don't have that many years left and Babcock might not return to the team. Nof****** s***. Does that mean we should be desperate to acquire pieces that aren't necessarily needed? Hell no. Petry isn't a top pairing D-man. We shouldn't even consider getting him unless Edmonton is willing to take Kindl going back the other way. Giving up three solid forwards in exchange for Hall isn't worth it. Also krsmith. kilq didn't write the proposal... just posted it. -

I can live without Hall. Our NHL Holiday Wish List -- According to Sportsnet. http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/nhl-holiday-wish-lists-eastern-conference/ Same old, same old. -
It's too late to TANK IT!!! I don't think we can catch the bottom of the pack at this point. Even if we try our hardest to not try our hardest. Even if every games goes to a shoot out. Also, Buffalo better slow down too. They're going to get themselves out of the race.

I think Bogo could be better in a different system and a different team, but I think the price to take a chance on that guy is going to be too high. Same thing for Meyers. I'm sure that Buffalo has realized that they're never going to get Mantha + Nyquist for Meyers, but it doesn't mean that they're not still asking that type of price. Mike Green, who started off the year as a big question mark, has stayed healthy and kept himself relevant on a team that "upgraded" their defense with the Orpik and Niskanen signings. He's not going to come cheap, won't get traded until the deadline and only if Washington is on the outside looking in or needing an offensive piece to help them. If you're looking to dump someone off for some draft picks, 4th line role players, or middling prospects -- you're all good, but... Hockey trades for legit players or those that are poised to break-out or have the potential to do so are hard to make. Let's not kid ourselves. Yandle... *droool* If I were that guy I'd be clamoring to get out. Maybe not out of ARI where it's beautiful and sunny all of the time, but as a hockey player, I'd welcome a trade out of the desert. No offense to that team, their awesome coach, etc. but they're going nowhere near the playoffs this year. Also, Wiz ain't coming to Detroit. Ever. Well... at least, not while Ken Holland is GM. (Maybe when he's 37 and can play defense. ) -

They gave Helm a lot of props for his speed and the nice goal. I think that he's not as unknown/underrated as people think he is around the league.

If we're talking about trades with Colorado... I wanna talk O'Reilly. -
Starting to make sense. So, if Cleary --obviously well past any waiver exemptions from old CBA, etc. -- was waived/unclaimed at the begining of the season, like Callahan and Ferraro. Then we called him up for 3 games, then we sent him back down. He wouldn't have to go through waivers? I guess my next question is: Is this 10GP/30 Days on Roster just a wrinkle for this season or for the entirety of the current CBA?
-
So for example, we can send Cleary down and recall him without him having to pass through waivers because he hasn't played in 10 games this season? Is that what I'm to understand? Waivers no longer (or at least for this season) have anything to do with number of years in the league, etc.? Interesting. f*** it. I'm reading the CBA.
-
This topic totally got derailed by the ******* CBA. The Thing is way too confusing. I'll stand by my interpretation, and if I'm wrong... I'll certainly give a big pat on the back to whomever figures it out.
-
...but he's had 4 years of NHL waiver eligibility in which the Wings called him up for exactly, one game. His entry level deal expired last year and he re-signed with the Wings... so, with the way the new CBA works, his waiver exemption is OV-AH! He can be called up without being claimed as re-entry waivers have been eliminated, but if they want to send him back down. He will have to clear waivers. For clarity, let's use a Red Wings player that's waiver exempt, and one that wasn't waiver exempt (but for a different reason all together) for clarity. Just so that we're clear. Our Red Wings player that's waiver eligible: Xavier Oullet - Even though his eligibility can run through 2015-16, he's only 5 games shy of being ineligible for waivers according to the new eligibility rules of the CBA. (Capgeek readily admits, with a disclaimer, that their waiver calculator is slightly off) Our example of a Red Wing player that didn't have eligibility, even though he hasn't re-upped a contract: Andrej Nestrasil While he's only three years into his entry-level contract -- so technically, he had another year of eligibility depending on number of games played or days on the roster -- Nesty played 13 games with the Wings this year, making him ineligible for waivers when they tried to send him down to Grand Rapids. I'm much too lazy to find an example that's exactly like Callahan's, and I'm not sure that ANY player has fallen into that category on ANY team YET this season. ...but hopefully Callahan won't be the first casualty. EDIT: For clarity. /sarcasm EDIT 2: Somebody please bookmark this post. It was a pain figuring this s*** out.

What happens when Babcock isn't the coach next year? Could work out just fine... although I have no real desire for Stewart to be on this team. IF... the price is right. Helm, Quincey, Kindl + one D prospect + 3rd/conditional 2nd round pick.
