There's that word again. Guess it can apply to more than just goaltenders?

Seems like a pretty simple and solid strategy to me. Have your three top shooters. (Dats, Nyquist, Tatar) Have your later round guys. (Jurco, Helm, Nestrasil, Z, Franzen) Scout the goaltenders. Juggle the shootout lineup based on the situation. Practice the shootout. Practice the shootout. Practice the shootout. Hell, make the last 15 minutes of every practice be shootout practice, until they get it right. -

Isn't "our guy" Datsyuk? Problem being... he's injured. There's gotta be more than one guy with that's shouldered with the responsibility. I too do not understand how this isn't a priority for a team that goes to OT with the regularity that we do. Granted, they may have been focusing on getting the power-play going which is certainly good and as seen by last night's game... getting us to some OT games which again, is good... and while the majority of the squad left it all out there in last night's OT... also good... when all is said and done, seemingly settling for a single point by dropping the second one in a shootout because NO ONE ON THE TEAM IS TASKED WITH SCORING IN THE SHOOT OUT is just plain bad. EDIT: spelling. -

It might also behoove the GM to get his head coach and coaching staff, despite his own disinterest in the shootout and his encouragement of the league to move to a 3-on-3 OT session, to get it together... as it is still a part of the game. Absolutely to the second part. We shoot ourselves the foot when it comes to the standings by leaving these freaking points on the table. JESUS that's pathetic. -

Good to see us battle back from a deficit and pick up a point. Good to see the scoring on the power-play continuing. Good play in the OT frame, even though we couldn't get anything past that REAL MONSTER, Bishop. (gd that guy is huge) Bad shootout. Bad shootout. Bad shootout. -
I hope he is. That way we won't have LGW still lamenting his trade 10 years from now.
-
Gotta remember that Carter went to #lumbus before he went to L.A. -- not direct from Philly to L.A. Have a feeling that those moves lit a fire under his ass to say, "Hey, I'm too good to be a journeyman this early in my career."
-
THIS. RIGHT HERE. -voice of reason. ...b-b-b-b-but Smith is GOLD and Kindl is s***e. I must, must, must let you know. NO MATTER WHAT! - voice of LGW* *I know, not everyone, but plenty of people that need to take the blinders off!

Use search and type: Michael Del Zotto Full disclosure: It's a boring thread. Not much hockey talk.

Exactly. No one ever said that about Mrazek. We're excited about his potential and man, has he shown it. Exactly. Brodeur is going to want starts. He shouldn't get starts. He doesn't deserve starts. He deserves a nice cushy job with the Devils organization. Is he washed up? No. ...but we need to figure out what we've got in McCollum/Mrazek/restofthegoaliedepth, not bring in a guy that just wants "one more year."

I just don't want to become the Atlanta Braves of the NHL when it comes to this frigging streak.
-
Trust me. I only want the treasurer's job as a temp spot. I'm in the same club as you. I think we've got a plethora of middling third pair defensemen. Ship Kindl off to Edmonton or somewhere else players won't typically go. He's signed at a reasonable price for some of those teams for another two years (?) Hudler's been okay off the Wings. Same with Flip. I can't and won't lament the fact that they're no longer Wings, in the same way that I can't and won't obsess about how prospects that we've traded away are doing. Does it sometimes suck when the player turns out to be great... or is it simply that they're flourishing in a different system/actually given an opportunity. It's the way the business side of the game works. Simple. As. That. Ericsson isn't having the greatest of starts, but he's not as bad as some like to moan about.
-
Lets be honest -- The eyeball test, your favorite players, and hated players all factor into the hows and whys of who and what we want for our team, but lets use the information that's available too. WE'RE IN THE AGE OF ANALYTICS! It's all out there to be had. Just make sure you use legit sources. Simple as that. Some folks wouldn't trade Smith for anything. Some wouldn't trade Jurco or Tatar. Hell, some of us are still lamenting the Calle Jarnkrok trade... it's why we're here. To talk about the team we love. Good or bad. Also, kip... if you're the President of the "Kindl4Prez" fanclub, can I at least be the treasurer. If he could just reign in the mistakes a bit, his value could be... well, at least decent.

Big ups to Abby who's come out of the gate on fire!! Who's the player that has been the most pleasant surprise to you with their start to the season?
-
So... Helm for Semin? Semin - Dats - Abby Nyq - Zetterberg - Franzen Jurco - Sheahan - Tatar Miller - Glendeninininininining - Andersson EDIT: I hate his contract.

I'm not freaking out, but it's certainly disconcerting when you start the season off 6-2-2. Start a new month and proceed to drop your first two games against teams that you should beat. I know that we got a point out of that game vs. Buffalo... but it was only one point... in a game... with Buffalo. -
The Devils might be willing to trade forward for forward... and Lamoriello seems to prefer guys over age 30 on his forward corps. Only 5 of 13 forwards are under 30. 3 of those 5 are nearing 30 -- including Brunner -- and no one on the active roster was born before 1990. Danny Cleary! Pack your bags!! You and your walker are headed to th' ROCK!

Brunner re-signed with the Devils.

This is all true and right if you're at home masturbating to a movie. Otherwise, here IRL: They're free? They get paid to have sex on camera. Who's to say that like any other woman you might be trying to woo that they don't require a little dinner and movie before? That's not free. I don't want to call any porn star a prostitute because I'm sure that most aren't, however they're professional sex workers: Do you think it's that easy to perform for them? Their expectations are probably a lot higher than some star-struck horny puck-bunny. Pornstars are certainly not going to be happy with some five pump chump even if he is a pro-hockey player. Sure, who cares? It's nothing more than sex right. They don't have feelings or the desire to someday settle down with a nice guy who's made his profession as an athlete who's made bank. It's just *******, right? Yeah, it is. Porn is straight up stunt-*******. Yup. They certainly know how to do the sex don't they. "Wait, we're not at the right angle. There's no way the camera is going to catch that penetration. Slide to the right" "Move my hair out of my eyes." "Am I groaning loud enough?" MDZ's probably been watching too much porn, and after sexing up Lisa-Ann, he and his sexual expectations are all out of wack. "Gotta get with the porn starts. They know what they're doing." He's just doing it wrong. ...and by doing it wrong I mean, by letting all his business hang out... you know, on social media.

Was he really our number one prospect? Maybe our #1 C prospect? Our "#1C prospect behind Sheahan" Whatever it is... ...and no offense to you krsmith, but I hate when the title "#1 prospect" is thrown around about any player because that is certainly a debatable title.
