I'd say that nice little defensive play by Ericsson right there just about makes up for that early gaffe.

from Damien Cox of Sportsnet, http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/wings-hope-datsyuk-injury-not-an-ominous-sign/ Are these the things that worry you the most?

Avoiding the actual arbitration hearing, the Avalanche sign O'Reilly. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=457771

He was "Big Daddy Cool."

James Mirtle @mirtle 1m Was told early in weekend that Leafs would settle in $3.25-million range. Same source said Franson would then be dealt, so we'll see.
-
steve simmons @simmonssteve 47m Once again Cody Franson avoids arbitration with Leafs. Signs one year deal at 3.3 million. Winging It In Motown @wingingitmotown 31m The Leafs avoiding arbitration with Cody Franson means they can trade him. In no way, shape, or form do I wish to drag the discussion back to Doomsville, but let us count the number of defensive signings that are better than the Quincey deal. Oh, the discussion never left Doomsville... Whew! I'm safe. EDIT: For the record, I understand that some of the signings have individual circumstances/discussions around them. (RFAs, players that actually would sign with DET, etc.) So, let's not nitpick. EDIT2: Of course, in the end, we should all take a deep breath and be happy that at least Kenny didn't sign Orpik to that horrible contract.

According to @THNKenCampbell, Ryan O'Reilly asking for $6.75 million in arbitration. Avs offering $5.525 million. One year award. $5.525 Avs offering O'Reilly represents 15% pay cut from '13-14 salary of $6.5 million, maximum pay cut allowed under CBA. Adam Proteau @Proteautype 3m Ryan O'Reilly scored nearly 30 goals last season, and the Avs are offering him the maximum pay cut allowed under the CBA? #gong

Fixed.

Kulikov signed to a 3 year $13million dollar deal with FLA. (That's a pretty penny.) What does this mean for DeKeyser's eventual payday? From Proteau (THN: Post to Post Blog) http://www.thehockeynews.com/blog/dmitry-kulikov-re-signs-with-florida-but-his-panthers-career-may-still-end-before-his-contract-does/ . ...and I can't believe "Preds Guy" PredsFanTheBayouState didn't already post this: Preds sign: Derek Roy for 1 year/ $1 millon Mike Ribeiro for 1 year/$1.05 million ...maybe I missed it.

What a lot of arguing about trades and such comes down to is that: Everyone has different ideas about what young guys are untouchable and which ones are. On top of that, each of them are valued in different ways by different fans. Sometimes they are very over-valued and sometimes very under-valued. Additionally, sample size of performance with younger guys makes the valuing of these guys even more difficult, especially by armchair GMs like ourselves. As for peanuts, I prefer lightly salted, dry roasted. Yum.

Actually, it's just under not over $10million. Either way, here's the link: http://capgeek.com/redwings/ See. There are good things on the internet. EDIT: Also, I just noticed that there are only five little lock icons denoting NTC/NMC on our roster. Is this correct? Dats, Weiss, Kronner, Ericsson, and Howard.
-
Yes, it's definitely arguable. He's certainly has been a good stay at home guy... when he's healthy... but we don't need a stay at home guy whose durability is questionable at best. I don't care how little he signed for... we need a puck mover.
-
Flip? Really? He gone. Let's get over it. How come no one ever laments the loss of Hudler? Eva?
-
He's their Franzen, no?
-
Santorelli signed with the Leafs. So... yeah. Way to go Eklund. You're the man! http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=456357

As much as I'd love him on our team, the Hawks are not going to be moving Hjalmersson. ($4.1 through 18-19) They're only two and change million over the cap. It's more likely that Versteeg ($2.2) or Rozsival ($2.2) would be moved.

Details were shared. On all deals that the Wings were in on. They offered Boyle more money and more term than the Rangers. Just slightly less money, but same term for Niskanen. Were not given the opportunity to make a pitch to Ehrhoff. Did not want to give Stralman five years. It was all made pretty clear.
-
Of course we're here doing that!! What are we supposed to do... go root for the Caps because they got Niskanen or root for the Rangers because they got Boyle? I still want this team to get better. Am I sure that Ken Holland is capable of it? Nope. Not at all. ...but a boy can dream! Well, if this is indeed Babcock's last year in Detroit then he only has to stay out of the doghouse this season, huh? I don't think we should include Tatar in any trade involving Mike Green. It should take far less to pluck Green from Washington with their cap situation. They need to clear Green's cap hit to get additional help up front. This. This. This. This. This. I don't even care if he's left or right handed. Agreed. Quincey played much better when he was with DeKeyser. Smith played much better when paired with Kronner. Ericsson should be stability factor for the 3rd pairing if we do run with those pairings at the start of the season.

Darren Dreger @DarrenDreger 6m As of last night, Toronto among the interested teams awaiting word from David Legwand following contract offer.
-
Axel Holmström @axelholma Jun 29 Sick. Best birthday present ever, I will do whatever it takes to put that red & white jersey on. @DetroitRedWings

I guy who worked his way to the fourth line on Minny last year? No thanks.

As kip said: Who in their right mind is paying future top six forwards for broken down offensive defensemen? I'd take Green at a very low price-point because at this point WASH has got to be looking at that $6million cap-hit and thinking. "Hmmm. How do I free up some cash to bolster my forward corps? Oh, I'll get rid of Mike Green for a pick and I can do whatever I'd like!!" Nobody's offer sheeting Subban. We're certainly not. Even if we did MTL would immediately match whatever offer we made to Subban. They've got more cap space than we do to sign the guy. If you want to offer sheet any team at this point it should be Boston. They're going to have a hard time getting all their RFAs re-signed. Especially if someone was to jam up the works with an offer-sheet. Franson wouldn't be bad, but we'd somehow have to rid ourselves of Kindl and/or Quincey for that to happen. I'm doubting Toronto wants either of them seeing how they each have a higher cap hit than Cody.

CapGeek @capgeek 2m Brooks Orpik's deal includes $5M in signing bonuses. http://capgeek.com/player/489 #Caps That's a lot of dough for Brooks. $32.5million in total.

signed Quincey re-signed by DET. 2 yr s $4.25 mill AAV
e_prime replied to haroldsnepsts's topic in General
The only way this signing works for me is if KH takes Q and K and flips them to Florida or Buffalo for Campbell/Myers. (respectively.) While both teams could take on their money and have spots for them, I can't imagine that Ken Holland is capable of this move. #1. It's includes a sign and trade. #2. It moves two guys that he seemingly cannot give up on. Yes, I'd rather have their (Campbell/Meyers) outrageous cap-hits and the question marks they bring when it comes to their play over the only slightly less outrageous cap-hits of two players that have tread water for the last few years here in Detroit. Shake it up, KH. EDIT: The thing that kills me about this... KH will probably have to add something besides K+Q to get anyone to take them off our hands. How about Andersson? nahhh. Still not enough.
