3/22 GDT: Blue Jackets @ Red Wings

Well, poorly played game brought in 1 pt. And they didn't deserve even that. And this ridiculous booing of Fedorov made me think of poetic justice, when he scored. And Fedorov is being interviewed now by Sportschannel Ohio. He said he was not 100%, he liked the shootout, and his familiarity with Osgood helped him on the penalty shot. And he had a sh*t-eating grin on his face throughout the interview.

What city deserves an NHL team

If no financial considerations need apply, then there must be an NHL team in Novosibirsk, Russia. My hometown has the best fans in Russia. The 7,400 seat old "Sibir" arena is sold out every night to 110% of capacity. The local RSL team made the second round of playofffs this year, for the first time in its 60 year history. Not in the small degree because of the "7th skater" making the home arena a really tough place to play for the opposition. Considered the unofficial capital of Siberia, Novosibirsk is home for over 1.5 mil.people, and if the weather should be a criteria for placing an NHL team, I can guarantee you that Novosibirsk is colder than any NHLcity, with the possible competition from Edmonton. Go "Sibir Bears" Go!!!

I hope you are kidding. Weren't you berating someone earlier for their "Canada is overseas" remark?

So why do you like them, if they have no "heart" in your opinion? And if they all do, then explain the "He wasent a normal russian , he had so much heart" remark. And if you wish, I could go back and search for the other dozens of remarks with the same message that you've posted.

Yes I read your post in its whole misspelled entirety. And am not disagreeing with your post here. I am calling you a bigot, who can't help but show his bigotry even when he is trying to be nice. It is sad, really. I do wish you'd step back and take a look at this biased view of Russians you have, then go out and try to actually meet a few Russians and see if they conform to your prejudices. If enough of them don't, perhaps you would consider abandoning that stereotype? It's a long shot, I know. Sorry, but Detroit #1 Fan is very consistent in his anti-Russian bigotry. If this was a first or second time, I'd give him the benefit of a doubt. But he does it consistently and repeatedly, ignoring all arguments to the contrary.

Nice backhanded compliment. It's like saying: "He wasn't a normal Newfie, he had so much brain." But I guess you just can't help being a bigot, can you?

OK, so why didn't Don Cherry say it? Saying outrageous stuff is in his job description. And while Yzerman is certainly one of the greatest ever players and a sure first balllot Hall of Famer, I wouldn't call him the greatest ever. At least not when Mr. Gordon Howe might hear you.

Stars president 'sick' of Predators' overall attitude

C'mon. Corporate welfare goes on all the time in any industrialized country. Why should NHL be any different? At least they don't get to use taxpayers money..., oh wait, just about every hockey arena in the US had some public funds in it. The Joe specifically included.

Stars president 'sick' of Predators' overall attitude

Tht can be said of any team. If your don't believe that high attendance characterizes city's interest in hockey, don't use low attendance to bash other cities for the lack of interest.

    Dallas, San Jose, Calgary

The wings have winning record this year vs MIN, DAL, COL, NSH, and CAL (2-1), of the potential Western playoff teams. There's no way we could face NSH in the first round, and MIN/DAL could finish anywhere from 5 to 7. So I say, let's win the West, and then our most likely opponent would be COL or CAL. Both beatable.

    ESPN Agrees to Contract With...

Hockey coverage in the South is probably no worse than anywhere else in the US. You generaly get hockey on VS and your local sports channel, when the "local" team for that region plays. If you live in Ohio or Michigan, rather than Tennessee, you may have better chance of hockey not being preempted with basketball or something. In any case, that's why there is NHL Center Ice.

Was the "judging themselves" remark directed at me? If so, please provide an example of me being judgemental of anyone's personal (i.e. affecting only themselves or their immediate family) choices. I doubt you'll find such an example. And when you are done searching, I expect an apology.

    ESPN Agrees to Contract With...

ESPN probably paid like five bucks for the rights to RPSL. NHL refused to accept low rights fees in order to just be on ESPN. Nor should they have agred.

I doubt there's much money left. Konstantinov played in the NHL for what, 5 years? And his salary never was over $2 mil., in fact it was under a mil. for much of that time. 10 years of medical bills have most likely wiped all their savings out, and then some. So don't go judging a person you never met based on false assumptions. Who was it that said "Do not judge, so ye won't be judged"?

    How does league expansion work?

Why? So it will be even more difficult/expensive to find a hockey game on TV? So even fewer people would know what you are talking about when you mention hockey? So even fewer new ice rinks would get built? So thousands fewer kids will grow up watching and playing hockey? So that in 50 years there won't be an NHL anymore? Is that really what you want?

    News on Pavs

we can throw numbers around all week. Even if (on one cold day down below ), All LGW posters agree on a number for Datsyuk salary, it still won't matter none. His salary will be determined by 30 NHL GMs when the UFA market opens on July 1st. If Holland wants to avoid bidding on he open market, he would need to offer Datsyuk something attractive to Pavel. Not what we fans might think fair or deserved ot ridiculous or whatever. Live with it.

    How does league expansion work?

Assuming that Canada produces at least the same number of NHL-level players as it did in 1971, (an easy asumption, given the increased population and improved nutrition and training methods) that means that instead of about 450 of these Cnadians making the NHL then, only about 380 of the 450 can make the NHL now. The rest are playing in the minors. This suggests that the talent level has improved tremendously over 1971, and that with the influx of Europeans and an increse in the number of the US-born players, there are enough players to fill 33-35 teams and they all would have the level of talent at least as good as the 1971 average. In short, expansion didn't water down the talent level.

Just what do the Wings have to do to get a goal?????

3/17 GDT: Red Wings @ Canucks

The penulty must be on the Nucks, because they touched up and the whistle went off.

No, that's not what I said. Refs are atrociuos, but there's no conspiracy against the Wings - that is what I said.

3/17 GDT: Red Wings @ Canucks

Lets not overreact here. Yes there were several atrocious calls today, but the Nucks only had 2 less penalties than the Wings, and they didn't get any PPGs.
