Lidstrom may be the NHL's perfect player (NHL.com)

You mean since the newmanium.. -
I guess everybody got their fair share of bashing: Hasek (for playing bad, for playing good, for playing at all) Osgood (for playing bad, for playing good, for playing at all) Holland (for not re-signing Datsyuk fast enough) Datsyuk (for not signing fast enough) Lang (for being Robert Lang) Kronwall (for developing to slowly, for being injury-prone, for being injured) Rafalski (for 2 turnovers in 43 games) Chelios (for not being Nick Lidstrom) Lilja (for not being Nick Lidstrom) Hudler (for not being Zetterberg) Cleary (for not being Hudler) Lebda (for making mistakes (how dare he !!!)) Draper (for not being more like Kris "Stanley Cup Championship Team 1997 & 1998" Draper) Maltby (for not being more like Kirk "Stanley Cup Championship Team 1997 & 1998" Maltby) Drake (for being 38) So don't worry about Samuelsson ... it will pass and the next one to trash will presents itself.. probably Johan Franzen for missing a penalty shot.. {edit: spelling}

If the prospects you want to call up were good enough, they would be playing.
-
Ovechkin will be re-signed before he hits the UFA market..
-
It sure is !!!!! WHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO !!!
-
This is awesome awesome awesome news !!!! Ozzie will be a Red Wing for three more years and he will retire here !! And he'll definately get a shot at the 400 win mark. 1.5 a season is still a bargain for a class guy and a premier goaltender that Ozzie is. Just great news !
-
Let's just win the Stanley Cup, how about that ??
-
We're on the halfway mark of the season. let's ask this question again in may. The only thing we know right now is that we have two experienced goaltenders who right now, are on the top of their game and have contributed in a big way to the fact that the Red Wings are the best team in the NHL right now. Everything else is not that important.

Everything Emery does (or doesn't) is under a magnifying glass right now. This were just two buddies goofing around a little bit.. and of course it gets blown waaaaaaaay out of proportion.

After Dom passed John Vanbiesbrouck for tenth place in wins alltime, Ozzie tied Rogie Vachon (a former Red Wing) for 15th place with 355 wins, after the win on Chicago on sunday. (Think about it: The Red Wings have the number 10 and 15 goaltenders in winnings all time !!) Furthermore, he's leads all goaltenders in the NHl in save percentage, .932 and in goals against average, 1.68. Besides that, he has won 19 out of 22 games he started in. That's an astonishing 83 % !! If this guy doesn't make it to the All Star game I'll be seriously pissed !

You ride the hot goalie, true ? So if you have two hot goalies and BOTH have shown the ability the win games throughout the season, why not play both of them ?? If there is a solid reason not to at least try it, I love to hear it !

The question " Who would you rather have ? " is not the same as " Most Valuable Player " .

http://www.letsgowings.com/content/view/118/2/ Notes: Chris Osgood was voted the teams’ MVP by the fans through the first-half of the season, followed by Zetterberg. Hasek needs 11 wins to pass former Red Wing Mike Vernon for 10th place on the all time career win list. Chris Chelios needs 29 games to pass Ray Bourque and former Wing Larry Murphy on the all time games played list. That's exactly my choice too: 1. Osgood, 2. Zetterberg (3. Lidstrom)

Midseason grades for the Red Wings : I kinda agree with every one of these. It's a great mid-season analysis by (the Wrath of) Khan. the only one I would change is Kirk Maltby. His current level of play is really not a B. More of a C, IMO. Opinions ?
-
I think he is an A. Yeah, he had a couple of bad turnovers, but that doesn;t make him PRONE to turnovers.. He's the defenseman Nick Lidstrom needs beside him, to feel confident and perform at the level we are all accustomed to. [edit: by saying "I think he is an A" , I mean the grade A, not the curse word..]

No Sakic... No Smyth... ouch..
-
Bochenski ??? Isn't he the with 12 toes ?

You just gotta love the Red Wings right now. It's all falling in place. But as the great Ken Dryden once said: " Anyone can put up great numbers in the regular season, it's all about the playoffs " That's not a reference to Oz or Dom, but let's be honest: A great regular season, even a 55 + wins season doesn't mean anything when you get your ass kicked in the second round by a team like... let's say the Blue Jackets .. So I hope the guys keep playing like their playing right now and I hope their good form and confidence will carry them deep into the playoffs !! Go Wings !

I think Downey is tough enough. Any tougher we would be talking about goons... and we don't want that. I would be ashamed to have something like Ruuttu or Simon on my team.
-
Great game by the tough squad and Ozzie. Too bad he didn't got the shutout, but oh well... we'll live !

Good ol' Curtis Joseph and and Team Canada (2) won the Spengler Cup on dec. 31 against Salavat Yulaev Ufa. The final score was 2-1. I know the Spengler Cup is no WC, but nonetheless.. Cujo played four games and won four games. Spectorshockey had some interesting news / rumour about him: Just a quick word to report a conversation I heard between the 2 broadcasters commenting the Spengler Cup final this afternoon on swiss TV TSR (www.tsr.ch) where Curtis Joseph made another stellar performance in goal. They say he already had contact with a few NHL teams, citing the ones you say on your site + Ottawa ! They say the situation in Ottawa is unclear at the moment given the Ray Emery soap and the inconsistency of Swiss goalie Martin Gerber, the Senators might go for an experienced goalie. They cited sources close to Gerber... I hope Cujo returns to the NHL. One of the good guys in my book.

As long as Ozzie is starting, I reckon ???
-
Ozzie is going to want a raise, but I think it won't be more than 1.1 / 1.2 a season. He's not about the money... thank god..
