The is a nice way to start 2008... a blockbuster against the Stars. I'm optimistic, but it will be a tough match, everyone has to be on top of their game. 3-2 Wings ! Go OZ !!
-
Very nice read about how to act as a complete A-hole and annoy the hell out of your teammates. Furthermore, Ozzie is set as an example on how to be a good backup goalie, which is kind of a nice compliment I think. Emery's sick of sitting and the Senators are suffering

Totally true.

http://www.hockeydraftcentral.com/1984/84051.html Tremblay would be remembered by Habs fans as the man who drove Roy out of Montreal. That deep and growing animosity between Tremblay and Roy came to a head on Dec. 2, 1995, during Montreal's 11-1 home loss to Detroit, Tremblay wouldn't allow Roy to come out of the game, instead forcing him to give up nine goals on 26 shots before finally removing him at 11:57 of the second period. Roy, who had been given more freedom to remove himself from routs under Montreal's previous coaches, became enraged and refused to speak to Tremblay. With the game still in progress, Roy told Montreal president Ronald Corey he would never play for the team again. He then told Tremblay the coach had just cost Montreal its starting goaltender. Roy later told the Montreal press Tremblay had "humiliated" him by leaving him in net after he gave up five first-period goals on 17 shots and was taking abuse from Montreal fans. He said he wouldn't have asked to be traded if Tremblay had not forced him to go back out for the second period, and he was especially angry that Tremblay had left him in the game after the seventh goal. Four days later, Roy was traded to Colorado. Nice article about that 'faithfull' night: 'I've never been back there' Not that the Wings are responsible for Roy leaving Montreal, but they had a major part in it. Who knows what would have happened when that game ended in a 3-2 victory for the Habs. Maybe Roy would have patched things up with Tremblay (unlikely though..), maybe he wouldn't have been quickly traded to Colorado but in the off-season to.. let's say Chicago. Who knows ??

I know this topic (probably) belongs in the watercooler section, but since the 'general discussion' section is the most viewd, I'm gonna post it here, since this is kinda important. Another year has passed, so I think it's only fair and nice to thank a couple of people for enabling us to enjoy this beautiful Detroit Red Wings forum ! Thanks to Matt and everyone behind the scenes for giving us the opportunity to have a voice on this forum, to discuss anything from games to politics from the first day in october to the last day of the playoffs.. and in our horrible, hockeyless summer ! Let's not take this great forum for granted. thanks a ton, Matt. Also: Since we are all having the same wallpaper (you better have !!), thanks for them too. Thanks to Aussi_Wing for inventing a great game, the Weekend Picks ! It takes a lot of time, effort and energy to have the results on Monday morning and to calculate the new standings. Thumbs up ! It's a great game ! Thanks to aflac9262 for making all those awesome GDT's ! I have yet to see another NHL-forum where people get treated to such graphical delicacies. Thanks for spending all that time in making them ! Thanks to the site admins who run interference when they need to and keep this forum clean from spammers, commercial posters and 18 year old kids who buy a BMW M6 and give stocktips nobody cares for.. I wish everyone a good and healthy 2008. See you tomorrow !

I know what you mean... I'm 17 minutes into 2008 already..

Don't think so. There's absolutely no indication that Chelios is planning to retire. He enjoys the game very much and still has much to offer to this team. I don't mind have Chris for another year.

thanks Matt ! Looks awesome.

The Red Wings have offered Osgood a three-year extension, but his agent, Rollie Thompson, said they still haven't decided on a term. A one-year, incentive-laden contract also is a possibility. "We're still talking,'' Thompson said. "Every time Ozzie gets a shutout or another win it makes it more interesting. We've been going back and forth quite a bit, trying to come up with what can work.'' The fact they offered Ozzie a 3 year deal sounds awesome ! Take it Oz !!!

Actually, I don't know why I'm posting this, cause it's totally uninteresting. But it just blows my mind every time I see the goalie stats from a Tampa Bay game. Denis played absolutely horrible since he left Columbus and Holmqvist is not a starting goaltender... unless you have no intention of making the playoffs... then he's the guy to go ! I do think Jay Feaster will try to land a goalie before the trade deadline. Brad Richards for Jose Theodore.. something like that.. source: http://www.rds.ca/hockey/chroniques/242850.html

Awesome news. Of course Kenny would not allow Lids to hit the UFA market, but it's a good thing the cold is out of the air. Lids is signed, let's go get 'em !!

Congrats to Ozzie for his 45th SO of his career. Congrats to the Wings for the ego-booster ! The Blues were nowhere to be found..

On the contrary: As much as people don't want to admit it, Hasek isn't anymore the clearcut starter on this team But this is turning inot yet another goalie discussion, so I'll leave it at this.
-
I just don't think a coach should sit a goaltender who is obviously winning and winning until he gives him a clearcut reason. And this has nothing to do with Dom Hasek. It's all about not playing your goaltender who has proven over the last month that he is a top-performer when playing night after night.

Nice going there Babcock... how to cool a hot goalie down !!! We've all seen how good Chris Osgood can get we he plays regularly. I don't say it's Babcock's fault we've lost tonight, but I wonder how many coaches would sit down the NUMBER ONE GOALIE IN THE NHL in two consecutive games ! I don't get it...
-
4-1 Wings. Go Ozzie !!
-
IMO, Ozzie doesn't care and wants to play as soon as it's possible. I don't want to take anything away from Dom, cause he's playing pretty decent now, but if Babcock says he'll rotate, then rotate, damn' it ! EDIT: I found a possible reason: source: http://onthewingsblog.com

Dom is starting. Nice rotation, Babcock !!
-
How can you dislike Cujo ?
-
He just lost it. I've seen Dominik Hasek lose it. I even lost it sometimes. Big deal. Like none of us ever gets this mad...

I'm not going to judge about something I haven't seen. But if it's true, it looks bad for Simon.
