It depends I guess. Don't be suprised if Hasek signs for another year. And don't make Jimmy Howard the automatic starter for next year. He had a horrible regular season last year in GR, although he bouced back nicely in the playoffs. However, he has to show some consistency this year. Being called the next Red Wings goaltender doesn't mean you are the next Red Wings goaltender. So, there's a number of combinations possible. Even so crazy trade with Vancouver or Anaheim for that matter... As long as Ozzie stays for another 5 years, I'm happy ! [edit: Tori Spelling]

Is it just me or are these two dudes stalling for no apparant reason ? I know it's not the easiest decision to make.... whether to retire or to play another year (or maybe two..). But they had all summer to think about this and they still don't know ?????? C'mon, that's ridiculous ! I have a lot of respect for both of them, but this is not respectfull to the Ducks organisation and their fans, IMO.

I wonder how much he'll do when he does. He's a great player, but in what shape will he be after not playing for 5/6 months ? Being in good physical shape is not enough, IMO

Fun fact about our two goalies: Of the three active 300+ wins goalies in the NHL, we have two !! I'm sure Babcock knows when to rest Dom and when to play him. Ozzie is ready when called upon. Keep them both healthy and happy and all is good in the world...

Why he doesn't put his foot down is beyond me, but I really think he cares about this situation. It's not just any two players.. it's Scott Niedermayer and Teemu Selanne. But maybe there's some kind of elaborate plan we all don't know about...

His game hasn't taken a huge drop the last years. Of course, he's not the wild hungry dog he was when he was 25, but he still is contributing in a big way. If he takes care of his body & mind I can see him playing at 40 years old. 3 years, 1 mill a year... sounds about right.

Overrated ? How on earth is Roberto Luongo overrated ? Like him or dislike him, but the man is a outstanding goaltender. And yes, he has had a bad start to this season. But so have more A-goaltenders. They'll all bounce back just fine.

The worst that can happen is that we wouldn't remember him as the player who scored that incredible goal against Philly, who lifted everyone's spirits on the Red Wings and in the city of Detroit by kicking Claude Lemieux's ass and whom we all got to know as a true warrior, but as someone who tried to be a player who he wasn't and should have stopped when it was time to stop. That time is now. Darren will always be one of us. Let's just keep it that way.
