Tim Cheveldae. As intense as it gets.
-
I'm not saying he should get a pass at all. But maybe someone who has demonstrated a lot of teamspirit and dedication to the organisation shouldn't be portrayed like the newest persona non grata in Detroit. "Fans" who are bashing him are making this "us vs him" . It's out of context. He is right. He got him a lot of points and to the Stanley Cup finals twice. But it's absolutely a dumb thing to say. Without a doubt. But why can't we all agree about that and move on ? What's with all the sudden (and to be frank, quite intense) hatred ? Out of frustration, Chris Osgood said something incredibly stupid. He shouldn't have done that and most likely he's aware of that as well. Let's leave it at that.
-
I just don't see it as a big deal. Or controversial for that matter. I think the sole reason why it draws this much attention is the fact that it was Chris Osgood who said it. We didn't expect him to say stuff like that. But I'm cool with his remarks. Not because it's Chris Osgood, but because it's a human response. A stupid one, but we've all made that mistake, right ?? Some people wouldn't have said anything in this situation, some would have said something, others would have made the biggest stink in the world.

wow, a lot of saints on this board.. free of sin, eh ? Ozzie said something he probably shouldn't have. Not smart. Yes, he is frustrated. And each and every one of us would be as well, being in that same situation. But how on earth does this little mishap turn into the resurrection of Claude Lemieux, disguised as Christoper Osgood ? What's wrong with everybody ? We turn on one of the most likeable guys in the NHL, because he said something stupid ? One of our own, nonetheless ??? You gotta be kidding me with this.

There's a lot of things I would like to say about the Caps game, but someone already said it... an probably better than I would. Matt Saler on http://www.onthewingsblog.com/ Well said, Matt.

Sir, if there has been ONE SINGLE PLAYER (beside Steve Yzerman) the last decade who could be named a true Red Wing and a teamplayer it's Chris Osgood. Everybody knows that. Don't trash the guy for one single comment which is very likely completely been taken out of context.
-
Of course you can't like all of them. But you should still root for 'em. You're a fan of the Detroit Red Wings. Not of 'most of the Detroit Red Wings'. Being a fan shouldn't be conditional. imo.

Not a lot of love for Ozzie here right now. I guess the Jimmy Howard bandwagon is quite comfortable nowadays.. I get it. But it will get bumpier. Like any goalie, the only thing Ozzie needs is a good team in front of him that will come to play every game. If he gets hung out to dry, then somebody screwed up long before the puck ended up in the net. And if you haden't noticed, this team was playing horrible in october / november and a good portion of december as well.(regardless of who was in net, mind you.) Ozzie will come through when the Wings need him, he still is one of the top goalies in the NHL. I have no doubt in my mind. So to all the Ozzie doubters, dont bother chanting "Ozzie" anywhere, including your own house, when he comes up with a big save or backstopping the Wings on another Stanley Cup run. Don't chant his name or scream how great a goalie you think he is, because obviously you don't. Jimmy Howard is a great kid and hopefully he will be able to satisfy the ridiculous expectations this city has of its NHL-goaltenders one day. But if you think you won't need Chris Osgood down the stretch, you might be sorely mistaken..

He was destined to be a legend too, once upon a time http://www.optimedsolutions.com/management.html

~A Legend: A romanticized or popularized myth of modern times

Last year I went to see it in Toronto. It was so impressive to actually see in 'in person' and up-close. It's the Stanley Cup !!
-
I second that.
-
Legend ? Really ?
-
Of course he looked pathetic. For the same reason Howard looked pathetic... just a horrible (defensive) game. Besides that, you really want to judge a goaltender on his first game in more than 3 weeks where he comes in cold ? really ?
-
Too much of a risk ? How would you know ? He hasn't played in a month now...

That's what LGW is all about, sir.

It's not sarcasm, it's realism. Nobody was talking Vezina when Legace had his super-october in 2006. Why talk about it when a rookie has a good run ? It's not realistic. It's realistic when it's Brodeur, Miller, Vokoun or Thomas.. goaltenders who already have proven they can maintain their level of play for a longer period. We don't know that about Jimmy. So don't make him the Messias so many want him to be.
-
Better yet, I think Jimmy Howard will end up in the Hall of Fame. I think it's safe to say that at this point in the season... Get real, sir

Okay, when you're right, you're right. However, I don't think Babcock is great in handling goalie situations. Not that he sucks at it, but he's not great. He was lucky when Legace turned in the greatest october of his career. He did collapse in the playoffs however, with Babcock unwilling to fully appreciate that situation for what it was: a meltdown. If he wants to play Jimmy because he's the hot hand, I totally get it. Just show some respect to someone with the credentials of Chris Osgood.
-
Mike Babcock is handling this situation very poorly. He never rode a goalie this long all these years. Granted, Jimmy is playing good, but after a loss and six consecutive games, he can't play Ozzie ONCE ?? That's a kick in the balls for any goaltender. Especially for one who brought you a Stanley Cup the last two years and to game 7 of the Stanley Cup last spring...
