I too have not ever seen anything in HD... I choose to spend $455 on going to see 3 games live these playoffs, which I do believe trumps HD
-
I got my stevens jersey on right now
-
Come on Devils... just DO it!
-
According the RED ALERT after game show... Bernie (not the bird ) said that no other team in this years playoffs has ever come back from a 2 goal deficit.... now that we did, YAY
-
Just tuned in to the game... Glad to know I will get to see the most important goal... the GWG

Giving the not-so-popular players some kudos here...
OsGOD replied to SouthernWingsFan's topic in General
I have to give Kudos to Lilja and Chelios... both are playing huge out there! -
As I have been saying... We kinda have to, if we want to advance... If we don't we are done.

I couldn't really decide where to place this as it is hockey but not exactly the AHL. http://www.plymouthwhalers.com/home.html I am getting into the Whalers (they are only 10mins from my house) and well we have season tickets for free for a long long time. A friend of the family is a guidance counselor for many of the players in the Plymouth-Canton School district. SO we get tickets all the time. Sitting goal line front row for tonights Game3. Whalers are up 2-0 against Bertuzzi's former team, Guelph Storm. The hitting is awesome. Just to poke at Karmonos a bit I always wear my Red Wings Jersey. I can't stand Karomonos, but well free hockey is pretty hard to pass up So here to the Whalers on their quest to be champs! I made a few signs tonight to get under the skin of the Storm Sign 1) PLYMOUTH, MI: EFFECTIVE 7:05pm 3/27/07 SEVERE STORM WARNING HAS BEEN CANCELLED! Sign 2) STORM WILL DISSIPATE BY 3/29/07 <--that's game 4 for those who don't know Sign 3) Traditional : LET'S GO WHALERS LET'S GO! The have a few player who have been signed to NHL contracts as well as some that have already played a few games for their respective NHL team.

Offsides and I have tickets to Game 1, Game 5 and Game 7... I am actually hopeing this series goes farther than 4 because I would really like to be in attendance for the win Sudbury always got destroyed by the Vipers in the IHL, so here to hoping the Whalers will have the same success. The buzz around the league said that whomever came out of the Kitchner/Whalers series was going to be the Winners... So far it is holding true! Don Cherry just brought up the Plymouth Whalers and congratulated them and his buddy Danny Ryder. GO WHALERS!

And I can also guarentee you that if the Sabres score two goals within the first 10 mins that the fans will NOT be in the game any more and I would even go so far as to say they would outwardly BOO their team off the ice as a collective whole. They will come out loud and then if the play doesn't warrant cheers, they won't get any. If the wings make it to the finals I guarantee you that there will be multiple celebrations... The last three times we were in the finals people were on all the street corners around the Westland, Livonia, Canton, Plymouth, Novi, Northville areas during the game celebrating. The first two people were walking the streets with brooms chanting sweep! If you go to any bars during any wings games you will notice a nice collection of people rooting on the team to victory... Just because they don't want to pay the overly inflated prices to attend the game DOES NOT mean they aren't celebrating in clubs and basements around the state. As for today... looky, looky... the wings actually give the fans something to cheer for and they get cheers. The crowd was taken out early (0:36 into the game actually) Zetterbergs fluky goal revived the crowd... That is all they needed, that is all it would have taken for us to get into the game on thursday night... a single glimpse of the team actually caring about winning the game. I did cheer during the game on thursday, four times to be exact... When the Octipus was thrown on the ice at the end of the national anthem, Mo Cheese's curly shuffle, when the army soldier rode on the Zamboni and finally when the final horn blew to stop the misery. The team needs to do something to earn the cheers of the crowd, case and point. Tonight while blowing it early, they showed determination to come back and thus deservedly received the standing ovation! Mark my words... As the wings get deeper into the playoffs the Joe will get less and less filled, not because the fans don't care... but because they don't want to have to afford a 500% marked up ticket. I am not willing to pay $500 for two upperbowl tickets for 2-1/2 hours of entertainment... finals or not. I know I can buy a helluva lot of beers for $500 and have an awesome seat on my couch... then after they win, head over to Downtown Plymouth to rock out with the street parties and crazy ass fans! I was at games 1, 2 and 1.... Games one and two they gave us something to cheer for coming out with excitement and we as fans gave it back... I have been to 10 playoff games so far in my life and Game 1 last thursday was the worst effort I have seen the wings put forth to date, in the playoffs. Their effort was totally underserving of any sort of cheers. The crowd was lame, but so were the wings efforts

Eventhough the JLA doesn't sell out nightly now... its nice to see that the arenas around still have a STRONG following for wings fans... That to me shows just how spread out and strong (albeit some just bandwagon) our fan base really is. Hardly ever is there a greater number of opposition jerseys in an arena than when the wings are in town And yeah that had A LOT to do to the lack of enthusiasm as well What was there to cheer at... oh yeah BEER GUY, YOU ROCK!
-
He is the opposition... It has no effect on him whatsover... Its all done in jest. There I am done spouting off the rebutles from people on here about booing certain players.

Detroit is known for mainly the Auto Industry... right now Auto Industry Layoffs left and right. I go to work EVERY DAY wondering if today our company will hand out the pink slips. The Auto Industry and manufacturing jobs as a whole are suffering. Suppliers all the way up to the actual Big three and firing left and right. Therefore your bolded statement does carry some weight!
-
I wonder if the Pistons are blaming the Wings for not selling out their home playoff games.
-
Well in all fairness... not many people actually live in the actual city of detroit. Most come from the suburbs and well just 25miles west of Detroit there are Million dollar homes up all around... so it really is all relative... 390,000 in DETROIT is a huge rip off!

Also remember that the home team as well as the away team can take the crowd right out of the game. The wings did absolutley NOTHING to demonstrate last night they hadn't packed in that game... the last 50mins the wings couldn't keep control of the puck for longer than a quick dump in and line change. They gave us no reason to cheer. The desperation of being down 2-0 in a game in the playoffs was not felt by the fans... They seemed complacent getting their arses handed to them last night.... how can you cheer for that, how can you get out of your seat and be excited when the team doesn't even want to be there? With all that said and my many many many times being at the joe... this was one of the worst games I have seen the wings play... especially in a playoff game. Games 1 3 and 5 last round had just about as many people but the team was energetic and the fans also thrived off of that. Its a give take relationship.

Mr. I is placing the cost so high that yeah, only Corporate folks are the ones that can afford to buy a 41 game package and a 16 game package for the Playoffs. I don't know of a single fellow season ticketholder that actually accepted to pay the 16 post season package. I know there probably is some, but I haven't found a joe schmo non-corporate type that did it. However, the whole corporate complaint is moot now and has been since the lockout (that would be a vailid arguement between '97-'03 ) Anybody with $$'s can walk right up to the box office, Log into ticketmaster.com or call ticketmaster instead of typing on a message board or calling into a radio station to complain about the atmosphere or the lack of attendance there. Tickets ARE available and have been for several years now... people still complaining about Corporate types are just complaining. If I had the cash, offsides and I could have sat lower bowl for EVERY SINGLE home game of the regular season. (obviously that was being directed at you specificially vipe... just a generalization) People are not going because the Demand exceeds the supply its because the Cost exceeds the paycheck. A thing I noticed that canadian teams allow and/or use in their arena A LOT during the play is those stupid air horns, cow bells and those Oil Funnel horns. That makes the sound louder than it really is also. I for one don't cheer consistantly through the play as I am watching the game. I wil do the Lets Go Red Wings Clap Clap Clap... or yell, "Break His Head!" or clap when they clear the puck... but I don't go nutz alll the time throughout the game play. If the arena wanted fans to remain loud at all times (specifically those who don't allow noise makers) they wouldn't turn off the music midstream when the puck hits the ice.

I was going to say... WTF? but then I read the horrible part
-
This quote stuck out to me... So very true... being an avid jersey collector, I would much rather put my money towards something that would last longer than 2hrs and 38mins... if given the choice. Last night was the first time I have actually ever been to the joe (and after watching the game really really really regretted spending the money on the tickets). Its a shame to feel that way, but it is the truth. QFT and another funny thing... the Pistons are also having issues selling out their playoff games. Its Michigan people, its not the caring for the team that is lacking, its the GREEN in the wallets.! We were loud last night right up until the puck dropped and we saw how uninterested the Players were in achieving anything out of the game. Its a give take relationship and neither side was willing to give for something unearned.

I'm game... what time should I arrive at the arena?
-

We need to throw quality... and quality being the key word here shots on goal. Enough with the twisted wristers from 60ft out or the unscreened shots to the logo on the jersey.... any goalie can save those ALL NIGHT long. We NEED to get traffic in front and Nabokov will once again join the human race as beatable. If not, then well the Wings will once again succeed at promoting a mere human to GOD LIKE status.

You wanna hear some butchering of names... Attend a game at the Joe. Its sooooo funny how Bud can't spit out the players names... Its a fun little game I play trying to figure out the person he is saying without looking at the # of the player. Sometimes I am just so stumped I have to look at the scoreboard to see got the penalty.
